Poor Squirrelflight, any time the authors needed drama, (especially in New Prophecy) it seems like they just dumped it onto her.
Repeat after me: Making Bramblestar abusive was not a good way to add conflict and drama into the story. I mean come on, Erins, you could have looked at her internal struggles or her sister's death and the impacts of her family slowly leaving. But no, you literally had to just make Bramblestar do a flip.
@Mia Mauldin Reading TNP, there was not an element of control there. It was a teasing, affectionate relationship, with arguments on both sides. Then it got toxic after The Broken Code.
I think the problem started with the age gap. Then things got worse when he became leader, her superior.

Squrrielflight is one of my favorite characters.
Also very strong despite the tragedy she went through like she lost so many of her family, had to deal with an obsession ex-friend(Ashfur), and constantly being belittle by her own mate(Bramblestar).
I swear when first entered the community there was nothing but negative stuff bout her😭 she deserves better

The popular view of her has been very heavily leaning towards “brat who constantly pisses of her reasonable partner” for a very long time until the recent video breakdown explaining how she is very clearly a victim of abuse. I have always held the view very firmly that both her love interests (ashfur and bramblestar) have abused her in one way or another but have been ridiculed often for thinking that way until recently. Warrior cat community has a victim blaming problem which is especially an issue considering the fandom is primarily kids, this isn’t what we should be teaching kids about relationships

I used to really love Bramblestar and I was completely oblivious to the fact that he was being so abusive towards Squirrelflight. So at the time I saw nothing wrong with the situation, after reading Squirrelflight's hope and watching Moonkitti's video on him my views have very much changed. As much as I loved Bramblestar's character in the past I cannot proceed to tolerate such actions and I honestly just want Squrrielflight to break up with him. I personally think they work better as simply friends. Also the Erin's from what I hear never intended for him to be abusive, I wish they would just make him have a normal and healthy relationship with Squirrelflight, that's all.

Tbh I personally think that after her mini break up with bramble in tnp and the Ashfur drama, squirrelflight only went back to bramble cuz Ashfur set the bar so high that at the time bramble seemed ok, atleast better than Ashfur
EDIT: I'm not saying that bramble is a good mate, he's not, I'm just saying hes a tiny bit better than Ashfur but in the end they're both bad mates and squilf deserves better
I love how this demonstrates that before the Imposter, before he was made leader, before even the Three were born, Bramble was bad to Squilf and made her feel inadequate.

When you edit in. Hitfilm you have to make a composite shot of the audio, then press edit and click audio. then lower the thing ( I forgot what's it called lol ) to make it quite and not break. hope that helped. sorry for bad english-
