Fine if you're actually choosing to go through the SunPass lane without paying. But my complaint is that there are some tolls where there is NO option to pay. If you don't have a SunPass, you have to drive through because there's no way to turn around, and with no option to pay the toll, you then get a bill in the mail with a huge service fee tacked on. So, you get funneled down a toll road, money in hand, prepared to pay, and then you can't pay so you get fined for it. It's a huge scam!!!! That's extortion. There's no warning signs saying anything about if you don't have a SunPass, you're going to be fined, giving you an option to turn around and get off the Turnpike. I don't see how this is even legal.
I hear you. I'm going to be getting one too. Just keep an eye on your Sunpass account because my mother had one and she got a fine one day for going through a toll without paying, even though she knew she had plenty of money on her Sunpass. When she looked in her Sunpass account it was empty, so she called the company and they told her that sometimes signals from buildings, etc... as she's driving through town, will activate the Sunpass device and charge it as if you went through a toll when you didn't and that all the money she had put on the Sunpass had been used up. They advised her to put it in her glove box or keep it out of the car if she wasn't going to need it. :/
It is $2.50 fee, I always drive to FL from another state and bill comes in the mail. This time it is $6.50 for 2 bridges, free online payment. What is your problem?
It’s not a fine, you haven’t done anything illegal: if you go through without a SunPass, you just pay a reasonable service charge on top of the toll for the service of their processing the lookup of your license plate and registration and billing you for it. It’s not a scam; there’s nothing unreasonable about it.
Why the hell are cops helping a private company? IT the company thinks they need these peoples money it is civil, yet this is a public road paid by taxes? Anyone see the idiocy going on here?
Stupid sun pass stupid tolls money gets stolen highways are still full of potholes
Clearly, stealing from thieves can cost a pretty penny.

@@deseremere Why should you have to pay for driving down a road paid with taxpayers money?

This is exactly why people end up in jail over the dumbest shit.
I love the ending. :)
We have a Sunpass transponder. Worked for 6 months and for 10 days it didn’t. $1800.00 fines here in FL.
