The Split sisters have been sailing for over 30 years, through econimical highs and lows. There are adult people for whom these ship have always existed. Gabriella is the last one still Cruising on the Baltic sea. So, I guess, the concept and the design of these ships was exceptionally good, and they have been real work horses here. We can see their long service time in another light, too. Thoygh they were built when the USSR still existed, they have served throug relatively stabile slice of history. It has been possible to use them as planned and maintain carefully.
Each time a new cruise ferry enters the service on the Baltic, it is said that this the biggest sensible thing sailing here. That was the case for the Aurella back in the early 70s. The current ferries between Turku and Stockholm, Grace and Glory, might finally be that: in order to have a longer ship, it must have a joint in the middle to navigate the narrowest sound of the archipelago. Moreover, our world has become more unstable. The risks of investments are, possibly, something else than back when the Split sisters were built. Or.. maybe not. The old eastern block was collapsing and the days of the threat of a major nuclear war were not so far in the history. However, back then, the major environmental threat that was generally spoken about, were lead and sulphur. Only fuw spoke about major changes of our atmosphere.
So, althoug there are bigger ships now, I still think the Gabriella and her sister are kind of monuments of the Nordic welfare, flourishing economy, tourism and so on.
    Thanks for the video!

I agree, I’d say that the split sisters are one of the first ships that comes to mind when someone mentions the cruise ferries to and from Finland!

@@emilvaneryd4676 Split sisters. The group of four sister ships built in Slip, former Yugoslavia, now Croatia. Not sisters split in parts! :D But actually, Split Sisters could be a female - or trans girl - band. You may decide the genre!
