The anti-smoking organization should use this for the whole year of 2021 everywhere... My question is did both of these guys smoke... Please post whether they did or not... That would be very interesting!
Phil’s gift was his calm, confident delivery that would belie the chaos of his character’s thoughts or surroundings. From Bill McNeal to Troy McClure, Phil’s character was always perfect for the scene.
Greatest example of this was The Mr Belvedere Fan Club. "I should want to cook him a simple meal. I should not want to become him; to tear the flesh; to wear the flesh; to be born unto new worlds where his flesh becomes my key."
RIP Phil Hartman (September 24, 1948 - May 28, 1998), aged 49 And RIP Chris Farley (February 15, 1964 - December 18, 1997), aged 33 You both will be remembered as legends.
We'll get to how funny this is later. Let's start with how brilliant it is. Genius. Most comedians never get anywhere near this level of observation of people, let alone be able to act it all out, let alone make us laugh at our sad weaknesses. Hartman delivers an absurd, screwball send-up of "authority figures" we're apparently supposed to place our trust in (but who don't really know any better than the rest of us) and Farley (again) brings real life, sweetness and raw honesty to a human being who's a little lost. He wants us to laugh but he also wants us to feel something for this guy. And both of these performers could pull that kind of thing off...Incredible. Rare and precious. God I miss them.
Man... Chris totally put in very good performances in Tommy Boy and Black Sheep with those heartfelt moments, I always tear up when those scenes come up.
The amount of genius in this clip is astounding. Two of the funniest people that have ever existed. The world is significantly worse off without them. 😢
So true. Both of these guys were so incredibly brilliant comics and unbelievably funny. And it was true comedy, without relying on a bunch of nasty words to fill a lack of talent.
yeah I don't know how they kept a straight face when doing the skits. I know when I was watching it, I was laughing so hard my eyes were watering! Lol Those guys were awesome.
This was about the funniest skit ever, R.I.P. Phil, and Chris. I adored Phil, he was a rare master of all trades comic and was taken from us tragically and way too soon 4:48 was absolutely f**king hilarious, IMO
“Right now your body is producing enough testosterone to KILL a man in his 50’s”.....I’ve been laughing at and repeating that line since...I was about Billy’s age.
4:47 is the funniest part of the video. This is truly hilarious. I thought for sure Officer Miller was going to say he was looking for a woman to love him and keep him company, but that was the exact opposite of what Officer Miller said. lol :-)
Love these guys. Being somebody who people love to watch and Know they’re gonna laugh. May they Rest In Peace. For the sake of history, it’s “Freedom’s just another word for, nothin left to Lose.”
Hard to believe both these legends died within a couple years of each other. Shocking and tragic. No one will EVER take their place in comedy or the world
Yeah, always loved them. The world would be a much better place if they were still here. They were a good team, good friends, left a notable void that leaves this world badly lacking. I try to do what I can to help bridge the gap with my work and I hope to leave behind a legacy of hope for others while learning from their mistakes.
So relevant and on topic about human society. Gives a lot explanation to why we are where we are today. Take care, peace, love to everyone. Chris Farley is a reflection of all of us.
@@tomripsin730 It was Lionel Hutz in the episode Bart Gets Hit by a Car. The first appearance of Troy McClure was a month later in the episode where Homer pirates cable TV.
Better than the Chipendale sketch with Swayze and the Herlihy Boy with Sandler? Those are mine next to Matt Foley. It's a real shame he didn't live long enough for us to get a Matt Foley movie.
I just checked- my friend, who retired in May (2022) started his 31 years at the county on 1/1/91, a month or so after this aired. Holy cow I’m old af. And still working.
Wonder if Phil ever did infomercials on snl. He has the perfect delivery for them. Chris Farley could be the uninformed side kick. Perhaps for some kind of carpentry or hardware miracle product. But the product is dangerous and everyone gets injured using it.
@@adellegiles377 YES, he did! He fulfilled his purpose; therefore, he left "us". Good Comedy, good laughs, good memories 🤣 and a dollop of a hearty belly ache!! R.I. P. ❤❤
I suppose it's true of anyone who makes you laugh, really laugh, but there's never been anyone since Chris Farley that physically and mentally pushes me toward hilarious joy.
I honestly believe had he not OD'd, he would have transitioned from "just" a funny guy into more serious dramatic roles and I believe that right now at age 58=59, he'd have at least one Academy Award already.
It is real, as is hell. Although those men made us laugh, i have no idea if they were saved in Christ Jesus or not so I can't tell you whether or not they're in heaven or hell currently.
Hartman was one of the absolute best. Farley was very good and only 32. He would have been one of the greats too. I still watch old Simpsons episodes where Phil did so many voices.
Both of those guys are gems. Gone too soon. But what a legacy they both left behind.
Nobody can really touch Hartman and Farley
The anti-smoking organization should use this for the whole year of 2021 everywhere...

Yep, and Chris' gift was chaotic and anarchic, combined with childlike gratitude and wonder. Their styles match very well.

I didn't realize. Chris was only 33 when he passed. Love Phil Hartman. And of course, Chris Farley. Both were amazing.
6 months apart damn man
Not many actors could entertain a studio audience like this without breaking character. This was great 😂
Two brilliant comedians taken way before their time. RIP Phil Hartman and Chris Farley. Thanks for all the laughs!
