After finding your videos while looking for some specific information, I now find myself watching your backlog of videos not because I'm necessarily looking for information about a particular topic, but because you sneakily hide gold nuggets and tips in your videos. Useful for amateurs and professionals alike. Much appreciated as always.

Mark, half way through the vid and had to comment... Short, snappy an to the point! Seconds to make a point and then on to the next one. Each of the subjects can be elaborated on for days, but so many covered in one go - a full portrait course in an hour. This one vid could be a masterclass on Udemy. An absolutely brilliant production - you are a true teacher!!!

Little long for a typical youtube tutorial, but once you start it's so engaging it cannot be stopped :) It waited in the bookmark for a month or so because of that length until I have the time, but it was so worth it! Now I finally know how to use exposure compensation for camera and flash, can't wait to try it out.

I love your approach. Wish more you tubers would speak well, informed and not scream in your face. I have a new appreciation for lighting and shadows. I'm using your techniques to help me in my puppet music video. It's most challenging since I am the puppeteer and the cameraman. Love the cropping of the head, putting the eyes just above center, and others. I will try to look at the video as a photo session, then get behind the stage and control the puppet while keeping it in that area. Awesome! Lots of food for thought. Shame I don't have the funds for a good camera, or lenses, pretty much anything but a $25 action 4K camera with no zoom or other effects but by using different lighting, different camera angles, and a lot of talent I still feel I can do well. Thank you for your insight!

When I go to an event I take a full frame and an APS-C. With the APS-C I take wide angle pictures of groups of people, with the full frame I take portraits with longer lenses. But I can also do the opposite, since I trust more in the depth of field from the APS-C for telefoto shots and in low light wide angle in a full frame can really make it worth it. I avoid going crazy with the background blur because I still use a DSLR and the view finder is not that reliable.

The power settings for three point flash lighting fixed an issue I’ve had since I shot on film in the bad old days. Thanks man. Also your review of the A1 helped me decide to go with the A9ii and pick up some good glass with the savings, not that I didn’t want the A1, I just didn’t need it for what I shoot, and since I just dumped Canon after 15 years, restarting my glass collection was more important.

I think capturing the actual moment is more important than colours that better suit our aesthetics but i guess to make a point of how you can change things it was a good example…or was it?
