To dlcampbell. In a response to your previous comment, when the church of Christ began to acknowledge praise and worship ih worship services is your answer. Scripturally, tell me where they are doing anything contrary to what it says in the word of God? These stagnant COC members need to come to realize that God is doing a new thing in this generation. But He is the same God as always and He is pleased with this praise. Move into the new millenium of Christiandom.
You said it. I too have mixed feelings about some of these things such as hand clapping, and especially one singer going off in ad lib world. Let us not forget the reason we are to sing, to teach and admonish one another (Colossians 3:16). Singing isn't just to God here, it's to ourselves! I don't see a problem with multiple men standing up to lead as long as it's orderly, which this case was done orderly it seems.
There will always be differing views about Praise teams or the way song service in worship is lead (besides women of course. BIG NO NO) But there is no scripture to say it is or is not ok to do so. What we are to make sure of is that just because it does not say in scripture that it is lawful to do, we have to make sure it is expedient and not cause others to stumble. I have mixed feelings over all about it. This was nice but it "Looks like" a concert to me..
