This summer I got a parapharyngeal abscess, a retro pharyngeal abscess, and another two abscesses in my mediastinum. I was in the hospital for 24 days. 3 major surgeries later and 6 weeks of iv antibiotics. Thanks for the video really nice to learn more about what happened to me!
I was wondering if one could get retropharyngeal abscess from dental procedures and how that would happen? And also, can retropharyngeal happen in a patient who is battling a mononucleosis infection?
give the heading of Parapharangeal Abscess in second last slide instead of just Pharangeal... new learner like me get confused... thanks for wonderful video
In the case you said the patient is adult . In my book say that retropharyneal abscess occur only in children below5 years as it occur in lymph node of henle ? I want to know what is the correct
@@MedicosisPerfectionalis I guess what I'm asking is could a retropharyngeal haematoma progress into a retropharyngeal abscess? After all it's stagnant blood in a confined space and you mentioned that bacteria love stasis. Is this a common complication of retropharyngeal haematomas?

was there a common cause for them ?

Harrison’s says that it’s more common in children < 5 years of age, but it doesn’t say “exclusively”. So, adults can get it too.
Good i lvoe it😂😂😂
Great!
Fantastic
Thanks 🙏
Why would spoon hitting the back of the mouth cause a retropharyngeal abscess? Wouldn't it cause a haematoma? Can this lead to an abscess?
There is no contradiction between the two
