I am studying in the US and I SURVIVE on Yobuchobap! One of my Korean friends introduced me to this dish as I am a vegetarian and it was hard to find vegetarian dishes in Korean Cuisine. Your channel has helped me find great Korean dishes that are VEGETARIAN as well. I am a huge fan of Korean food and thanks to you, I can now cook so many dishes!!

As silly as it may sound, but I confess that she melted my heart when she said she prefers the pot also because we don't have a rice cooker :°) She's very kind, I haven't seen anyone using the pot because of us!

@barb rarick and no measuring cup! I learned half the rice you want plus one inch of water over the top or to the first finger joint's measure :D
Works great every time. Also for quinoa, millet and oats.

I think my favorite part of Maangchi's channel is that it never feels like anything is wasted. I hate waste and she shows me how to use everything, even the rice stuck to the pan. Thank you, Maangchi!

When I lost my job in the recession I was home a lot with no money searching for nutritious and frugal foods. From UA-cam I learned a lot of Indian dishes and Korean dishes from Maangchi. I still cook both very often because they're so tasty and nourishing. The frugality is just a bonus! :D

Hi Maangchi , in my part of India( kolkata) we eat basmati rice and cook rice in lot of water and drain the rice water. while cooking we always add 2 drops of oil. that way grain stays separated and rice is really fluffy. i love sticky rice too with butter mashed potato salt and poached egg. 😀

In Iran we call that crispy rice at the bottom of the pot, tah-dig. Literally means bottom of pot. Vey good with some Persian stew on top. It’s the best part, and always a fight over it. Even Persian rice cookers will make tah-dig. 😊

Hi Maangchi, its funny now I know from you that nurungji is precious. In my culture, my grandma always tell us that they had to eat nurungji all the time because we are poor. Nurungji is something leftover that the rich people will throw and the young people will eat because its consider rude to serve the guest or the elders with nurungji..

These are one of my favorite things to serve for lunch. I don't use a kit though. Instead I like to make my own rice seasoning liquid(rice wine vinegar, sugar, and salt), and flavor topping(dried carrot, green onion, gim, sesame seeds, salt and pepper). I do do buy canned seasoned tofu though as it's hard to make from scratch! I'm going to have to look for a kit next time I go to H-Mart. I want to give the kits a try. :D
