best part of caraval is the use of colours
To be honest, I want the second book to stay in Scarlett's POV. I don't know, I just like the way she narrated everything and I want to stick with her.

Same! I’m on chapter 6 of legendary and I actually had to come here to look for a review to remind me of some details! It completely threw me off that the second book is in tella’s point of view!
I read Caraval too and I loved it! Definitely a 5-star read for me, just the writing and the use of colors alone was so beautiful.

I know you wrote this a few years ago but YES! i've just finished it and OMG loved it so much, I'm also sooo heart eyed for Julian!! I keep daydreaming about scenes with him and Scarlett and longing to read more of them ugh!

I loved Caraval, too! I am trying to get my boyfriend to read it. I loved that Caraval was an interactive place and not just a show you go see for a couple of hours. It's almost like Garber was taking the "running away with the circus" and turning it on it's head slightly.
My favorite read of 2017 so fare. I fell in love with it. I have never second guessed myself so many times while reading a book as I did with this one. Literally setting on the edge of my seat.
I really appreciated the spoilery discussion... I just finished reading the book and was interested in seeing what other people thought of the story, but no one was too specific when avoiding spoilers. Great video!
i personally felt the characters were too flat... and the fact that we didnt get to see anything about other competitors, felt really lackluster the whole 'caraval' thing :/

I love this book so much! I can't wait for book 2. I'm not sure how I feel about Donatella being the main focus yet, but I'm still super excited for it

just finished reading caraval and honestly it was very repetitive. I didn't really enjoy it. I've read alot of books with magic and this one didn't capture me at all. it was really slow throughout. I had a hard time getting into the story and wasn't very into the charaters. I feel bad because I really wanted to like this book. but after reading it I know they're better written descriptions of magical world's. all the adjectives in this book are way to much. I will try to read this again later.

I finished it in 8 hours. And I loved the writing style. It wasn't repetitive at all. If you're looking for something more fast paced than this, then you better start looking right now because Caraval had an excellent pace. It was rather fast tbh, but not overwhelmingly hasty. Idk what do you mean by the 'adjectives' because the author definitely didn't throw bombastic words at our face. Everything was well explained with beautiful imagery and I loved how magical it was! Honestly, cannot wait for Book 2!

Steffi Erkens i finished 25 minutes ago and I nearly sobbed throughout the entire book because I didn't want it to end
I honestly just couldn't get into this book. I didn't really enjoy it until I got to like the last 100 pages. I was kind of confused and lost throughout this book, I didn't get the whole concept of caraval. I felt like scarlett and julian fell in love almost instantly and it just didn't seem as real. I did like a few aspects of this book though! I loved the bond between the two sisters, how it talked about their abusive father, and acknowledged the fact that scarlett wasn't necessarily "property". I loved this review though! your videos are always amazing, and I love hearing your thoughts!!

I found it had a slow start. Well, I wasn't really gripped till about 100 pages. I did really enjoy the novel and finished it just then. ^-^

I agree that it's a very good book, that blurs lines between reality and not. But I do wish it was drawn out a bit more and longer... As I wish for some other books.. The ending was a headache but I liked the writing!!! I want to read the next one!!!
That book is one of my favourite! I loved the atmosphere so much, dark, magical... I wasn’t sure about the second one because I was attached to Scarlett POV but OH GOD Legendary was even more amazing!! Uuuugh so much love for this serie!

Just started and finished this today 😂😂 I couldn't put it down, I gave it a 5 out 5 on goodreads.
SPOILER: Well with the two days of her life thing, she didn't want to do that but she had no choice because she not only answered the question incorrectly but she wanted to know what was in Aiko's journal.
I loved it so much! I listened to audiobook and I couldn't stop! It draws you in to a very ,magical world!
I like the discussion addition to the reviews, they really bring out your personality and are great for relating to your thoughts and opinions!

I just finished the book and directly came to your discussion. It makes me so happy that I feel the same way as you felt (though this review was posted a long time ago).
I do admit I left myself get into a argument with another reviewer who just ripped this to shreds. But I ended up watching other reviews of hers and see she has a pattern of doing this to success artist. First time I have ever got into an argument of a book review lol I was kind of upset with myself over it but I guess I loved this book that much. Bardugo, Taylor, Maas have been my three favorite authors but now we have Garber and she just might take the number one spot!

tbh even though I enjoyed the book, it seemed quite predictable to me, because since they said it all was just a game, I doubted anything that was happening it the book, and kind of thinking helped me figure out what was actually happening about tens of pages before Scarlett. I'm not really whether it made me enjoy the book less, but it honestly made me feel smart and get irritaded by Scarlett
(Hope it makes sense at least a little, I'm still trying to figure out English and stuff)

The game of Caraval was like Hunger Games?? Better watch The Game with Douglas. And why is Caraval always described as a carnival? It is a little village. Overall overhyped and the twist/reveal was awkward and never happened. Also, insta-love. 2/5.

Scarlett was the most naive and annoying character I've ever read from - I hated her 😑 Also when Scarlett said to Tella "You can't be in love with someone you just met" I laughed out loud, because she knows Julian for like 5 days, but it's totally true love 😂

i hated this book it has a lot of cliches plus the writing's just okay... The way she writes her supposedly cheesy lines reminds me of the most dreadful line anyone can find in a book: "i let out a breath I didn't know I was holding" though in third person.
