mr. Marquez refused to sign off the film rights because he requested that if they filmed; each chapter would have to be released per year for 100 years or something fantastic like that. i read the book once in high school and now (10 yrs later) and it's different every time. i'm not sure any director can do the book justice. you can not squeeze such masterpiece in a two hour film. and i don't think he liked americans lol.
i know a film it's impossible, but what about a tv series? Could be done by HBO, ITV or BBC. Or even Netflix or Amazon. Each chapter can be an episode and if there is a chapter with to much on it, than it can be split in two episodes.
+stranget92 A series could work. I don't know about squeezing the whole book into one season. That seems a bit ridiculous, but none the less it can be done. There was a series in Colombia called La Saga. The series followed the story of a family through at least five or six generations. It starts somewhere around the 1920, where the main character and his bloodline is cursed by his bestfriend after the protagonist kills him. Each generation shown has its struggle and deals with similar tones as One Hundred Years of Solitude. I think if the series was done in a similar fashion, with every season being a specific time in the book, it would be a success.
@@eliasfunez9982 Really? A bit concerned to hear that, this book is a masterpiece, I'm not sure I can say the same about the shows they produce, no matter how truly entertaining they are.
I was almost fooled for a moment. Then I thought ... Hmm. A little derivative. Oh well. For a small sliver of time I imagined my most favourite novel of all time was going to be a movie. But on reflection perhaps it is better it should only exist in our imaginations. If gem million people read this book then there will be ten million versions. That's maybe as it should be.
It was for a high school Lit project. I wanted to capture the magical realist feel even though there is very little to do with the actual story haha. Thanks for commenting!
Aguz Rodri If Hollywood ever takes this book, it needs to have an amazing director, actors and team in general. Also it has to be put in 3 movies at least. Otherwise, it will be a bad money as it will be impossible to capture the whole book in 2 or 3 hrs. I wish I have the money to be the producer.
Wow got my hopes up for a moment - would be great if thre were a movie trailer. Would have been nice idea to find some stock footage that related to the story (like a firing squad rather than a ballroom!). By the way, his name is GARCIA Marquez, it gets filed in the library under G, not M. So the red text at the beginning should be on Garcia.
I really do hope a movie will never be made out of this novel. The poetry that lies within its pages can't be put into motion pictures.

Exactly as nonsensical as the bullshit novel!
