I never give money to beggars. Instead I give them something that a person in need could truly use but would mean nothing to these scammers. Bottle of water in the summertime. Handwarmers in the winter time. The ones who are actually homeless or in need have always been very thankful for these things.
Great idea! Also, MOST people who are genuine and actually homeless, don't plea with people for money, and are ashamed to look people in the eye. They tend to sit quietly in hope!
I want to agree with you. Unfortunately though, in some cities the beggars are more interested in money so they can purchase drugs. I have attempted to offer food before and was scoffed at. Need to remind myself that some struggle with mental health issues, so it is what it is.
@Sound wave Its not commen to find a homeless child ussually in the us people are very concerned to children so if a person finds them they will cal the police but if you are somewhere else like india, afghanastan its common to find homeless kids under the age of 18 but also china takes care of kids aswell same thing like japan though there are some places there that have a ton of homeless kids
@Sound wave Wait but shouldnt you give money to adults to? if you see a homless man/woman you should give them money or food yeah they might be pranking but if you give them like 1$ its okay
I remember 20 or so years ago in my country there were beggar women with sleeping children on their lap, people felt bad for the child. But happened that after investigating, the childs were always sleeping and turned out to be "borrowed" children that were given sleeping pills to stay asleep the whole time. Most disgusting thing ever
I saw a woman who had a sign that said "No way to get home, need money for taxi", this was on a Walmart parking lot. I was sitting there in the car waiting for my younger brothers to get out of the Walmart bathroom and then I seen the woman with that sign drive away in a very nice car.
I lost my right leg from 6" below my knee in a motorcycle accident. So I like to lay on the ground beside my car and close my jeans at missing legs in the car door. W.hen people come by I holler and ask them to help me get my leg out. When they try to open the door it's locked and I say, Oh. My key is in my shoe. And point to the door. Lol. . Jk. I have wanted to do that for so long and get some good video but It never comes to fruition. Lol. Maybe one day.
The worst thing about Homeless people is that they make you feel bad if you do give them anything. My mom gave a Dude a cigarette and he threw it on the ground. You bet I fucking kicked him to the street and he ran away like a bitch.
The woman begging for money was earning real serious money daily for pretending to being in so bad in condition and disabeled, while she was actually young healthy rich woman.
I stopped giving to beggars, when one day, a guy asked for money for food. I had my lunch on me so I just gave him the food. He got mad and chucked my lunch at me and starting yelling and swearing at me. I wised up fast at that point.
@@Baka_Oppai wish I was. This was not my only experience with this type of behaviour. Our congregation did an outreach program to feed the homeless. We brought baged lunches to many homeless and they were greatful but we had a great idea to go where we knew beggers were. Most were not happy to receive a bag lunch. One even spit on one of our members for handing him a bagged lunch.
Another story: My dad gave his left over lunch to beggars. One day, he was working, and his car got ransacked, and some of his money got stolen. The security cameras showed the beggars he had given food to, had ransacked his car. My dad has never given stuff to them ever again

My family used to take care of a homeless man we new wasn’t faking. He would sit near a mall only asking for food, not money. We offered him money and he refused saying we earned it so we keep it. Most of the time we would go to a restaurant and bring out our left overs which was quite a lot to him so he could eat. We would also bring him things like a tooth brush and paste, and some clothes. I hope he’s doing ok, it’s been a while.
This reminds me of something two classmates did in grade school. They lived on a street where a beggar with a missing lower leg was constantly begging. One day my classmates found the beggar's hidden shoes and good pants and they decided to star playing with the objects in front of the beggar at which point he stood up on his two legs and started chasing them. They quickly got in one of their courtyards and were safe.
There was a man in NYC in the ‘60’s, ‘70’s who was truly handicapped, no legs from his hips. I don’t know how he got that way, but he was a familiar site in midtown Manhattan for many, many years. He’d get around on a wooden board with roller skate wheels under it. He had a tin cup with pencils and beg for money. People were generous, he was funny, pleasant and entertaining. When he passed away, the New York Daily News, the paper, ran a story on him. He was really handicapped, and he lived very frugally. He left an estate worth three million dollars, which he bequeathed to charity. The thieves in this video hurt people like that man…..those who really need help.

The old "I'm not gonna lie, I just want a beer" trick has been used for many years. Beggars are cunning, and have discovered that humorous signs like that will get them more donations. The irony is that the money you think you're giving them for a beer is actually paying for their next heroin fix, so the joke is on you.

Yeah, I'm a busker in the UK (and lived homeless for 7 years) and have played in over 100 towns/cities and I can say outright that more than half the beggars out there are fake. In this country most of them receive benefits but still beg off people who receive exactly the same benefits. Simple rule is offer food or drink instead of cash - most fakers will not accept anything except cash! If you really really want to help, offer to pay for a night in a b&b (motel) but insist you personally book it and pay for it (not just giving cash and hope they'll be honest). Many fakers will come up with very convincing stories which are either just untrue or are in fact stories stolen from genuine people with problems, if you really are undecided as to the legitimacy of the beggar, offer to call a homeless charity for them and judge by their reaction, but don't give cash unless you are convinced this person is going to use it wisely.
there was this story.....someone did this and the homeless person stole the tv and trashed the furniture and such. the poor man had to pay bc he booked the room.
Ya I always try to offer food but they wouldn't accept it. They just want the money. And one time my grandfather gave a warm blanket to a poor beggar cause she was shivering in cold in winters. She took it but never wore it. Cause she wanted to look helpless. I just stopped helping them.
I remember getting a warm pastry for a homeless guy in my town. He ate that thing like he'd never eaten before, and was filled with gratitude afterwards. I went back and got him more hot food several times after that. I've done the same previously and experienced the same as you. A refusal to accept hot soup on a cold evening? You can normally tell when someone really is having a hard time. I very rarely will give money, though I will at least offer food. 1 young man took me up on that offer. I went inside the store I had just come out of, bought him a sandwich, chips and a drink. Another time I was walking around downtown Seattle and a man asked me if I had money for food. I said, no, but I have a sealed package of hummus of pretzels he was welcome to. He declined. Another time I was waiting for my grayhound bus to leave, man asked me for money. I had no money and said he could have one of my sandwiches. He asked me what kind it was. I said it's the food kind. Again, food was declined. People like this are either dishonest or dishonest.... or dishonest.
Having worked in a homeless shelter, yes, sometimes this is true. However, just because they decline your food doesn't mean they aren't hungry or won't spend the money on food. Often times, people mistake homeless people for being desperate for anything, which they often aren't. That guy maybe didn't want the sandwhich, or didn't trust you. Just because they're homeless and hungry doesn't mean they're going to eat everything offered. People fuck with homeless people all the time, our neighborhood had a group of kids that liked to give homeless people food with laxatives in it because they thought it was funny. A lot of the time they do spend this money on food, just food that they want to eat. Just because someone is poor and homeless doesn't mean that they don't deserve to eat the things they enjoy, within reason. There's a myth that people who are hungry will eat anything. They will not, some people will literally starve to death before eating certain foods. It might be because it makes them sick or they loathe it so much they'd prefer death. Studies have shown time and time again that starving people will not eat literally anything. A guy could be starving to death and have a choice between a tuna fish sandwhich and a pine cone, and he might just eat the pine cone first because he hates the tuna fish for whatever reason. Some folks are just not capable of eating whatever comes their way.

That's why I never hand cash to beggars but when the situation is right I'd offer to buy food or stuff for them. You will immediately tell if they're really in need base on their reaction. I've seen this happen in downtown Seattle where a well dressed man handed a bag full of food items and a hot drink from Starbucks to a beggar. The beggar yelled and him and he walked away with the food.
i used to do it like that too in Las Vegas it was good move though i would make 700 a day faking being sick or homeless , but its better doing that than stealing , you dont hurt nobody , you dont force them to give you money and also something people dont realize is that many people only give you 5 dollars which means you have to spend the whole day to make some bread though.
@@eradigital4082 You're wrong to assume that "you don't hurt nobody" with this practice. The people that are caring and giving by nature are hurt to discover they've been duped by a scammer, which is what these people are and what you were. Giving money to a fake beggar and realising that you've been deceived is a disgusting feeling. I remember coming across a foreign woman with her kid near an ATM. The woman barely spoke any French (Which is my native language) and both her and her kid were really dirty, it seemed like they were on the streets since a long time.. I was struggling back then and didn't have much on me but I gave them like 5€ I was struggling but I was not heartless. While coming back from an appointment I met them again in the street over the opposite sidewalk.. They were properly dressed, clean as fuck and they were shopping.. The kid was jumping on place and mocking me with a finger pointed at me in a language that I couldn't understand. Since the I've been super wary of beggars. I don't like to judge and I like to help out but I always remember that awful experience.
This woman in Philadelphia was sitting on a bench at night, it was really cold out, my friend and I were out on the town. She asked us for money as we passed and hardly anyone else was on the street. We had no cash. However, we decided to get her some warm food. We spent $15 on a decent meal for her. She didn't thank us just asked for money again as she accepted the food. :\ Another time, when I was super young (16) and in Philly with another friend during the day, a woman walks up to me outside the Reading Terminal Market and said "You're buying my lunch today" I thought "Oh okay sure" but I only had $20 left on me. Lady orders $14 of food without batting an eye. The person behind the food counter was like "She's a regular, always roping people in... you ok with this?" thank god I had just enough money left for the train.
I had the exact same thing happen as well!! a women ask me to order food in a restaurant and its like a expensive menu... The first time I saw a homeless person, I was desperate to give them money... thankfully, my sister was with me and stopped me, because at that time I didn't know scammers existed. She was trying to get me to move on, but I refused, I contacted my mum to see what she thought, and that's when I learned I should get them a drink. Since then, whenever I see someone who looks homeless, I'll either give them a drink or, if I don't have any, buy them one.

In my opinion if someone can walk up and down and through a moving subway, all am/pm they were doing better than me. Lol I still go with my gut and SURE I've been had but hey, that's the way it goes. I highly doubt someone living in a mansion begging for money will not KEEP that lifestyle up, their prob...not mine
I donate to legitimate organizations which I have vetted, global, national and local. I acknowledge beggars and wish them a good day. I may have food or water with me to give them. But that is it these days.
I've had to deal with a begging scammer where I live. Always asking folks for change, then trying to ask others to give him bills in exchange for the coinage. He once tried asking me to go back into a grocery store to use the ATM to get him a $20. That's when I learned he's been banned from dozens of stores, local malls, banks, etc.. for this constant stunt. He also lives with his mother, who he's been seen walking around with, so we know he's at least got welfare support. He's even tried starting off with the whole sob story too. I never once bought into that garbage. As soon as someone starts up with a lines like "Please listen to my story first," that's a red flag for me. I don't bother carrying bills around with me if I can help it. Best way to deal with a beggar/homeless person is to offer to buy them some food and see how they respond. The scammers are more likely to get dejected because they want to spend that money on something else.
They need the money to pay off the guys who actually send them on the streets. They are criminal organisations and those poor devils are just the end of the food chain.
First time I move to Bellevue, Seattle greater area, I see this old gentlemen in his late 50's wearing nice ironed cloth layered with vest ,shiny leather shoes just like an executive or businessman in the corner of busy traffic lights showing a cardboard sign " Need help to pay rent and food". I thought that probably some unlucky person who got laid off because this early covid 19 pandemic, so I gave him $5 and he said " God bless you" in thick Italian accent to my surprised. I keep seeing him in the busy traffic light for a year with different nice outfit and I keep wondering " why such a person doing shameless things...?" . After almost 2 year then I am sure this guy just fooling some people like me

Imagine this: In 90s and early 2000s in Poland people from the East and South-East kidnapped children (1-2 years of age) from poor families. Then they drugged or intoxicated them with alcohol to start begging in different parts of the city, pretending to be single moms etc. If a child died due to freezing or intoxication, it was disposed in a dumpster... Children that couldn't be of use (as they grew older) were sold for organs or to abusers. If you approached these beggars and confronted them, you were almost immediately surrounded by 5-8 bandits who could either kill or beat you up. They were all part of the same begging gang, making anywhere from 2 to 10 thousand dollars per month per beggar. Minimum wage in Poland in 2000s was 200 dollars per month... Many journalists died trying to uncover this horrendous activities and many families lost their children because of those bandits. Never give money to anyone unless you are a 100% sure that person really needs it, because you might be financing child abusers or murderers.

Where I live in Toronto, quite a few people have been seen panhandling and then jumping into a nice Mercedes and driving away at the end of the day. As much as I'd love to help homeless, just can't determine which ones are genuine anymore.
I have nothing against actual poor/homeless people lying about injuries/disabilities/military service etc. If you need the money to survive, it doesn't matter how many limbs you've got, or what your history is like. Of course the beggar would choose whatever strategy that has the highest chance of working. It's like people who depend on tips so they dress nice and act friendly. Those who don't actually need the handouts though. Yeah, f 'em.
Scamming people is always wrong, no matter if you're homeless or not. Begging itself is in a gray-zone. Most people could at least do something to make a living, for example performing in some way, working illegally, going off grid (building a home themselves) or recycle bottles. There are many more options and although none of them may be pleasant, that's what I believe I'd choose if I became homeless. Nonetheless, begging is one thing, scamming/lying is another and that I don't tolerate.
@@bumbelbop411 I'm sure your values would change drastically if you were ever to actually be in that situation. I was broke and homeless for 2 years. I never begged, but that was a personal choice. Plus I was in a country where collecting bottles and stuff was a viable way to survive (and only survive mind you. We're talking a few bucks a day on average). In many other countries that simply isn't possible. You say perform in some way? Well then, acting is a performance art. And everyone would do everything to survive. And I'd hardly blame them for acting.
@@Zanian19 Sure but there's a difference between being homeless and surviving, at least in a lot of places in the world. In Sweden no homeless people need to scam others to survive, they do it to make money, usually for their illegal network. That's plain wrong and they should instead be punished for it. But if a homeless person in maybe a poor country need to scam others to live, so be it, I would probably do the same. But I can't see that many situations where your ONLY option to survive is trick other people into giving you money.
@@bumbelbop411 And that's why I made sure to write "if you need the money to survive" in my original post. And saying that every homeless person in Sweden is only doing it for profit is fallacious. Housing costs in Sweden is at an all time high, and it's a country you definitely don't want to be without a roof and walls in, especially if you're further up north. My country isn't quite as cold as Sweden, but I still remember the winters as being near death sentences. And just because you live in a rich country with good welfare, doesn't mean innocent people don't fall through the bureaucratic cracks and end up with nothing.
I used to work at a soup kitchen which is generally for the needy in our community well everyday this man would come and eat for free well-dressed nurse briefcase and when confronted he said that why should he has to pay for lunch when he could come to the soup kitchen and eat for free. We will only make like a certain amount of food and his meal should have gone to somebody who needed it but couldn't get it because he was in there trying to save a buck that kind of crap infuriates me
One creative begging sign I saw said "My brother was kidnapped by crazy squirells. I need money to buy supplies, weapons and booby traps to get him back."
Others care and spy on them because it's simply wrong what they're doing! That's a lazy person's way of scamming, robbing people of their hard earned money. That's why I ignore beggers. I have just enough to pay for my daily necessities, and I can't afford to lose it.
It happened with one of my cousin's too. She used to give money to some older lady almost everyday after school. Cause she thought she was homeless and hungry. But after some days it was later revealed that she actually living in a big mansion and was quite rich. She regretted giving her money. 😅😅
Oh! Someone was begging for money cuz they “have 3 kids and can’t pay rent” when their son is holding his younger sister while watching UA-cam on the latest IPhone. That’s suspicious 🤨
There is a family of beggars that beg around the area I live in. You can find them at any given time just in the entrance/exit of a grocery store or strip mall. They travel within about a 5-6 mile radius. One time we gave them money then saw them soon after at our neighborhood grocery store. This time, I asked if I could pray with them. They acted like they didnt speak English and their older child translated what I was asking them. They allowed me to pray with them, but appeared disappointed that I didn't give them any money. Hopefully the prayer worked and God gave them an income other than begging.
One time when I was off to go to karate a lady came to my mom saying she needed money for the bus (we were in the car) my mom didn’t give her the money and she left, then I entered karate class so I didn’t see what happened, when I came back my mom told me that she went behind a building (I think) and left on HER motorcycle so I think she hid it somewhere and tried to scam us.
Idk but this is something thats kinda similar so someone asked us for money we were In our car and she went behind a building idk wat she is there but that’s it
Most of them started doing it when they don't really have anything, now, it's a problem for them to quit as they found out it's lucrative, and anything can be addictive. The bottom line is wherever or whatever original has a fake. My comment is not an endorsement but just an opinion.
A couple of weeks ago I saw a man claiming to be homeless on the high street. He had a sign saying ' pls I am homeless and can't afford food'. 10 minutes later I saw him with an iPhone, calling someone. He said to whom he was calling ' I've finished work and got some money. Pick me up now ' . A while later I saw a lamborghini come and pick him up and they drove away.
So one time in Manchester I saw this guy begging for money and my mum said no and my mum told me that she had a job but he was very very lazy. I meant he😂
This is so true. Reminds me of that scene in the first "Scary movie" Where a begger asks for a dollar but Cindy gives him a huge sandwich instead, he then gets upset and throws the (very good looking!) sandwich at her head.

Dangerous too. A lot of this scammers are also connected with the mob.
Not where I live, there’s so many fakers out here. Most of them use their kids as a means to get more money, even tho they own a house.

Oh yes it is 😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮
This woman in Philadelphia was sitting on a bench at night, it was really cold out, my friend and I were out on the town. She asked us for money as we passed and hardly anyone else was on the street. We had no cash. However, we decided to get her some warm food. We spent $15 on a decent meal for her. She didn't thank us just asked for money again as she accepted the food. :\
Another time, when I was super young (16) and in Philly with another friend during the day, a woman walks up to me outside the Reading Terminal Market and said "You're buying my lunch today" I thought "Oh okay sure" but I only had $20 left on me. Lady orders $14 of food without batting an eye. The person behind the food counter was like "She's a regular, always roping people in... you ok with this?" thank god I had just enough money left for the train.
its sad how people exploit the naive
fuck that no random person should be coming up to you saying "youre buying me/my ____ today", bum or not.
I had the exact same thing happen as well!! a women ask me to order food in a restaurant and its like a expensive menu... And when I paid... the people in the restaurant later tell me that she is a regular and are you sure you want her to get it. I myself struggle financially but it's okay I just let it slide...
Omg 😳. What they do will turn around and hunt them later . That’s so horrible to find out the truth.

It's sick that people use kids to make ppl feel bad for them when they pretend to be homeless
After almost 2 year then I am sure this guy just fooling some people like me
Maybe he lives in the high rent district, and has expensive taste in food.
Seriously, I've never heard of anyone holding a sign that was actually trying to keep their home from being foreclosed on. That kind of forward thinking would keep them from going broke in the first place.

50-500$ an hr? how would any homeless people even exist in that area
A doctor friend of the family trained at medical school in London. Often everyday he would see this very dirty and bedraggled man sat on a piece of cardboard making a seemingly meagre existence selling cheap boxes of matches (it was the 70's so most people smoked) to passers by. One day the doc had finished his shift and was on his way home when the matchbox seller was also 'clocking off' for the day. The seller was a good few paces ahead and the doc, coincidentally, happened to followed him. A few blocks later the seller suddenly turned off, got his car keys out of his pocket, and opened the door of his very nice, very shiny, and very new looking Rolls Royce! True story.
