One of my favorite VC seasons. Nobody expected them to do anything that year, but he was just like 'nope, we're going to make something of this.' That's leadership.

Vince's '08-'09 season! Max you did it again! Excellent editing and content!
This version of Vince truly shows his all-around game. It is true that this is not prime athletic Vince Carter, however his offensive game was still on point, his defense was still reliable, but let us admire his leadership. Coming off a disappointing '07-'08 season, full of changes and trades, the Nets came to one logic conclusion, the nowadays term "re-building". This means trying something new, a young team with no expectations whatsoever, lead by a "veteran" and past-his-time Vince Carter. Once again not only Vince, but this roster proved the media wrong. I said it before, this was Vince's undisputed and all-time all-around season, showing not only that his offensive repertoire was still polished and on point, but his leadership and enthusiasm was something otherworldly.
He never gave up on this team, moreover he gave space and shared the spotlight with an up & coming all-star like Devin Harris. I mean, Vince really deserved the all-star nomination, however he endorsed and genuinely rooted for Devin. Harris unforgettable season featured impressive numbers for a young promise (69 games): 21.3 PPG (1470 points in total) - 1.7 STL (114 steals in total) - 6.9 AST (476 assists in total) -3.3 TRB (231 total rebounds) - Percentages: FG% (43.8) - 3PFG% (29) - FT% (82).
Coming back to Vince, let me tell you that this man was on a mission. His percentages clearly rose and re-gain all-star caliber numbers. His field goal percentage remained in the 40's (43.7%), his free throw percentage as well, a consistent 81,7% much needed in clutch situations. But THE numbers I am most impressed are his 3PT% (38.5) and his Effective Field Goal % (50). This is not only Vince's comeback season, but one of his most efficient ones. Vince's '09 season highlights his basketball IQ and his leadership, facing a new phase in his career and in a franchise that changed radically from one season to another. However, Vince Carter kept the lights on. Keeping his offensive numbers up, and providing aid in other categories such as rebounding and passing. Averaging 20.8 points (1662 in total), 4.7 assists (376 in total), 5.1 rebounds (410 total rebounds). These three main categories helps to justify my argument, however you might really have to watch highlights of this season to believe me. In addition to this, we might have to create a defensive highlights compilation, but Vince's defense (I am not talking about his athletic blocks during the raptors days) remains on point. 82 steals and 38 blocks in 80 games are not staggering numbers for a DPOY contender, however Vince Carter never intended to be one in his career. But again, you might have to watch some highlights to appreciate Vince's leadership and tenacity on both ends of the floor. His clutchness is a whole other section for another time (you might have to re-watch his game against the raptors!).
Well guys, without further due, this is MY way of saying that Vince Carter is more than a dunker!

His game this season against Raptors with the game's tying shot and game winning alley oop... how many points did he score in under a minute at the end of regulation? In that hostile environment, with all eyes on him. It may be the greatest regular season game ever and the clutchest performance by an individual. Ever.

Vince Carter doesn’t get enough credit for Devin Harris having career years back to back playing along side of him (and without Jason Kidd who was traded halfway though 2007-08 season).
A lot of people talk about Steph Curry's “gravity” & selflessness, but in those last couple years in New Jersey Nets, Vince still usually drew more attention and double teams, as well as the opposing team’s best perimeter defender, which allowed DH to flourish.
It’s no coincidence that DH never performed quite as well before or after playing with VC. Just my 2 cents.

05-06-07 he was an all star. 08 I understand because of ankle injury and team in turmoil. But 09 he clearly should’ve been an all star. Local Nets media was shocked he wasn’t named. Although his numbers dropped down by seasons end, at the time he was pretty much 23ppg 5 and 5. Team was overachieving. He had multiple game winners. Truly was a robbery that he wasn’t named all star, or all Nba.

@@MaxaMillion711 I remembered that teams didn't do well at that time shouldn't have two players in All Star game? So Vince gave place to DH and said he has had enough experience in All Star and it's DH's first time, young players should grab this chance (turns out it's DH's only all star journey). I may be wrong because I was a primary school kid in China and all the information I could get was from local magzines lol. PS: I have been watching Max videos since then, some fans reposted your video in basketball bbs in China. I am a huge fan of your video, back in the day when the internet and social media was not well developed and I could only 2 live streams on TV and a 2-min long highlight of each game, your video was the where I got to know the best of Vince (still the best now). Love you Max!

Gilbert Arenas says a lot of crazy things at times, but saying that vince was too nice was very on point. Vince has always been unselfish even when it would have been better if he wasn't. Devin Harris was NOT better than vince this year or any, yet vince played wingman to him, despite being the closer and the one to get them timely buckets.

TLDR: the voters decided VC was the odd man out. There was backlash after his huge popularity early on. They valued other players over him for whatever reason. The media didn’t respect him because of how he left Toronto, in their eyes.
So 00 and 01 he was all nba. Only getting better. 02 he has severe injury, was left off. 03 he was injured most of the year. Left off. And then in 04, he was mostly healthy and still elite, but Toronto didn’t make playoffs, wasn’t very good. 05 he had all the drama with Toronto, media didn’t forgive him for “dogging it” those first 20 games. He was left off DESPITE averaging 28ppg and playing his best individual ball in 56 games with the Nets.
The real BS comes with 06. He played great all season long. Lead the team to the playoffs, 49 wins, Atlantic division champs. And he was AGAIN left off. The media just wasn’t interested in him anymore. The went with Chauncey Billups over VC.
Then in 07 he played in all 82 games, had much better numbers than the previous year, led team to the playoffs. And was left off again, for billups.
08 vc got injured, missed a chunk of time. Kidd left. Team missed playoffs. Left off.
And finally 09, his last season of being a lead guy, he played great. Tons of game winners. Inspiring leadership without Kidd. Missed playoffs and left off again.
The media just was done with vc after 03. They didn’t respect him. They wanted to move on and reward players like Michael redd. Chauncey billups. Tony Parker. Joe Johnson. It’s a shame. Vc number wise is comparable to what Damian Lillard has done so far. But the media respects dame and they didn’t respect vc.
