Best Italian Hot Chocolate | Ultimate Winter Comfort Food | Thick & Creamy Sugar Free Hot Chocolate

A full mug of rich & creamy, delicious hot chocolate topped with whipped cream and chocolate shavings is the perfect way to start a wintry morning. If you have never tried Italian style hot chocolate (Cioccolata Calda), follow this easy recipe to learn how to make the best hot chocolate. This homemade hot chocolate is the ultimate winter comfort food!
Ingredients:
Milk - 210 ml
Stevia - ½ tbsp
Cocoa powder - ½ tbsp
Dark chocolate (70%) - 60 g
Corn starch- ½ tbsp
Pinch of salt
Whipped cream to garnish
Chocolate shavings to garnish
Method:
Chop dark chocolate into fine pieces and set aside. Next in a small bowl whisk 60 ml milk and corn starch. Set aside.
In a small pot place the rest of the milk with stevia, salt and cocoa powder. Bring to a simmer, reduce the heat to low, and add the corn starch mixture. Whisk until well combined and cook for approx 3-4 minutes. Lastly add the chocolate pieces, turn the heat off and whisk continuously for approx 3 minutes until completely dissolved and thick.
Pour into a mug, garnish with whipped cream and chocolate shavings. Serve immediately and enjoy a cup of thick and creamy Hot Chocolate!
