Peteragain: The reason St. Anger is the worst selling Metallica album is because they sold out, they are unispired, they don't like what they are doing anymore, and the only reason they don't break up and recognized that is for the money. They went heavy because they thought it would make money. But because they hate what they are doing, they created a piece of crap. If you want to see a long lasting band that didn't sell out, check out Iron Maiden.

Based on their interviews, they did it for the money. They should have disbanded and done solo projects when Cliff died, because he kept them honest. Also, St. Anger was heavy because heavy is becoming popular again, not because they themselves wanted to go back to heavy.
peteragain - they are sellouts if the reason they are succesfull is that they changed their sound in order to make more money. Also, everything they put out starting with the black album is just stupid. They should have broken up when Cliff died.
I was at this show. August 3, 1987 at The Stone in San Francisco. The opening band was Trouble. As for where is James. He appears for a few seconds on the right side of the stage at 2:27. No Jason at the show.
