- I stopped by the Curtain Pole Rd. Pond area of the Tennessee Riverpark in Chattanooga today and made a video of these ducks from a great distance using my Nikon Z6, VR 500 f/4G, and various teleconverters. First I had to drop my daughter off at School.

Great shots of the ducks. Thanks, I enjoyed it.
Thank you!
Beautifull style
Thank you!
Cool video.
Russell Mondy thank you!
i don't understand the hate on this bird, it minds its own, it can't decide how it looks when its born. i don't know why a rare few hate this bird
I think the shoveler is beautiful and I like it's unusual beak.
Northern Shovelers are common in Colorado but you have birds that are uncommon here. I like my Z6 for stills but I have heard that it is excellent for video as you have shown. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching! As a disclaimer, there were another 5 or so minutes of footage that I didn't include because of focus issues. Some of the Z6 footage here is poorly focused too but I included it because I liked the narration that was with it. Also, lots of the canon G7XII footage (the vlog sections) is poorly focused as usual for me and that camera. The Z6 video autofocus is at it's best in face-detect, that mode doesn't work with wildlife. All of the duck footage is single-point.
@@PhilThach I have recently used the Z6 for low light dance performances. The AF on the Z6 is definitely not D850 or D500 class. I found it quirky but better than I expected. I use Auto Area AF and Dynamic Area AF with fairly consistent results. I hope that Nikon will add some firmware updates soon for this. They need to take a cue from Fuji and their frequent firmware updates.
One of the subjects I often photograph is live music which can sometimes be in extremely low light, I haven't had the chance to do any of that yet with the Z6 but I'm hopeful I can get it to perform in those situations.
Phil Thach The high iso is excellent on the Z6. Not D5 caliber (which I sold to finance my 300 F/2.8 VRII) but better than any other camera that I have used otherwise. With stills the Z6 produces very good images at iso 12,500. The noise has a better look than the D850 and D500. The Face Detection in stills is not reliable and the single point continuous focus tracking in stills is a joke. Nikon needs to take a cue from Fuji and come out with some firmware updates for the Z6 soon.
@@stanobert3475 I'm looking forward to trying out that high ISO performance! I'm not sure if I think Nikon will make major improvements via software. I love that Fuji does that. Somehow I just don't think Nikon will. They certainly could and should. I've never used the 300 2.8 but I've heard nothing but great things about it. Consider me jealous!
Hi Phil...have you ever used a teleconverter with the Nikon Z6? thanks.
Very often, including in this video.
@@PhilThach great...does the final image suffer at all using a teleconverter? i am planing to use a teleconverter with my nikon 24-70 so i don't have to carry with me bigger lenses as traveling to New Zealand. I have never used one before since I am more of a portrait photographer rather than anything else. Thanks
Image quality is reduced when using a Tele converter. The higher the magnification the more the quality is reduced. My biggest concern in your situation is I don’t believe the 24 to70 is compatible with a Tele converter. I know my 24 to 70 is not. I have many many lenses but only four are compatible with my teleconverters.
@@PhilThach That's the only F mount lens I have got. I will continue to research to see if I can use my 24-70 with a teleconverter....If not...oh well I still stick with my classic landscape.LOL...Cheers anyway.
Great video. Which profile are you shooting the Z 6 video with? Did you make any changes to the profile?
Cactus Tweeter I’m shooting 1080p 30 FPS. Flat profile. I boosted contrast and saturation and dropped highlights slightly in post.
