I hate to be a bummer with a sad PSA, but I wanna bring attention to the fact that there have been recalls recently (Feb 2024 when it first started) of a lot of grain and oat foods like Cheerios because of excessive levels of the pesticide chlormequat, so it's worth looking into if it's a risk for rattos like it's a risk for people! I know some chemicals are safe for one animal and not another (which is why they insist on using certain pesticides to begin with) and considering Cheerios are just little treats, not a staple of a rat's diet, that's another good thing...but nowadays I get really anxious finding out about this recall because I think I can connect some of my health problems to when chlormequat started being used in 2017 Just wanted to give a PSA for a pet owner and anyone else who might read this, I don't think it's really being talked about like it should be

I've talked to quite a few people like you who haven't been affected, but then myself and someone I know can connect the chlormequat "contamination" (that's what they're calling it but it was authorized increased usage by the US president Trump and now US president Biden is trying to add it to more foods) to problems with personal health or pet health. It's super worrying how these changes can be made to food and no one gets told about it!! Aaa!
I got an ad, and the rat didn't look shocked to me, and I just watched a video that said sleeping cat bumps it's head and goes back to sleep, and the cat barely touched his head on the table, it wasn't a bump, all these animal shorts are clickbair
I find this so heartwarming about how we take everything for granted, but theirs this little rat, enjoying a little snack while being sad after because it was finished. This is so lovely i love this rat ❤

When I finish my snacks, I also generally feel shock, disbelief, and then sink into mild depression and existential angst.
That only happens when I look down at an empty bowl and realize I was eating without noticing what I was doing, so I didn't enjoy the flavor. 😔
