Ypres Then and Now: The Last Post

- The Last Post Ceremony is one of the most moving commemorations on the Western Front. Each night, thousands of people gather beneath the Menin Gate Memorial to the Missing, to hear buglers from the town of Ypres perform the Last Post, a tribute they have carried out for more than 80 years.

It's a tradition to honor the soldiers who gave their life in the war.
It's honestly really impressive that they do it every day on 8 pm.
Thank you for respecting our traditions
Been to Menin Gate seven times and its always special. Never forgotten
I went there for a history trip a few years back and was an amazing experience. Lest we forget
It is so special that the Belgians don't forget the sacrifice of hundreds of thousands from other countries. It has to be said that these images are from the 11 november not the nightly service. I have been to several nightly ceremonies and one nov 11th. The nightly one is more important to me.. that they remember the fallen every single day is awesome. Yet Sassoon summed up the Menin Arch as " these incredibly nameless names" because like Tyn Cot the human mind cannot take in the immensity of the tragedy.
proud to be a Belgain

Most people haven’t watched the entire 25 mins of my Ypres documentary, so I’m breaking it down into more manageable chunks.
Lots of new content on the way in the coming weeks.
The pipe tune - Cock O The North, I believe.
