    This is the first time I have understood how this game is going to work. I feel much more confident in buying a copy now. Thanks!

    This is the first video that I've watched of yours Paul, but this is really excellent work. Clear, concise and with great use of effects to demonstrate your points. I'll definitely be watching more of these in future.

    Another great video. It was one of the reasons why I did by Codenames Duet in the end. I had my eye on it for a while, but only when I saw how simple the rules were, did I buy it, so my wife and I could play it. We've played it almost every night since... so thank you for the rules video.

    Nice work on the key card visual effects. Definitely helped show how the assassins work in this version.

      Thanks Tom. I experimented with a few different methods, and settled on this one in the end.

    My friend and I were having a terrible time trying to figure out how to play this v. standard codenames but this video helped us so much! Thank you!

    This video was really useful. I got the game to play with my mother, and it's really fun, even though we can't communicate to save our lives. She always gets mad if I don't get what she is describing, and I am always scared that she will throw me out of the house if I fail.. hahaha

      Thanks James. If people know how to play base Codenames, then this should cover everything. You could even just show them the vid up to 06:48 and then watch the rest of it when (IF) they succeed :)

    Interesting! So other than that clever little tip about using the assassin locations on your card to figure out what they are on the other side, there is no relationship between the two sides during the game, is there? I mean, each round is almost like its own separate game of Codenames, and when it's one person's turn to guess, they need to pretty much ignore what they know about their own side of the card?

    • @GamingRulesVideos
      @GamingRulesVideos  7 років тому +1

      3 of the agents are the same too. That's kind of an advanced tip though and you can rarely use it to your advantage. But sometimes you can, so it is useful to know.

    Great explanation and video as always. Is that the tree you ran into in the Codenames:Pictures video in the background?

    • @GamingRulesVideos
      @GamingRulesVideos  7 років тому

      I wouldn't have called it a tree - its a pot plant from my house - but yes, well spotted. That's the reason why I put it in the film :) Foliage: 1

    Guessing a bystander ends your turns but also costs you an extra turn because you "use up" a timer token?

    • @GamingRulesVideos
      @GamingRulesVideos  4 роки тому +2

      Exactly. If you just "pass", you use up 1 timer token, but if you hit a bystander, you effectively use 2 timer tokens.

    I came here after your stream yesterday only to learn, that I should watch tutorial for the original game first :( Ok, I'll learn about both :) but your link at around 0:30 points to this vid itself, not to the original guide (if you care to fix it 3.5 years later :D )

    • @GamingRulesVideos
      @GamingRulesVideos  3 роки тому

      lol. Will fix that. I did however, create two Codenames Duet videos. One if you already knew how to play Codenames, and another if you are completely new to it.
      This is the full one: ua-cam.com/video/VRAx-Yl1Aoc/v-deo.html
      I will fix the link. Thanks!

    • @GamingRulesVideos

      @@GamingRulesVideos Ah I'm sorry. I misunderstood. I thought it ought to take me to Codenames guide, not another Codenames: Duet vid, with exact same title (which made me think it's exact same vid, eventhough your shirt change color) :D After watching both guide and first live stream (+2nd truly live yesterday), game's on my wishlist now ;) I am fairily new to this channel and you've already made me interested in two games (Vindication is 2nd one) … that's an achievement, to make me go for a word game, when English is a foreign language to me :P

    I've just purchased this game and it was way easier than I thought it would be. Are there any tips to increase difficulty level?

    • @GamingRulesVideos
      @GamingRulesVideos  5 років тому

      Melvin Yong my first reply to someone who said it was too easy is that they must be playing it wrong :)
      But if you’ve watched the video, then you must be playing it right :)
      You adjust the difficulty by visiting the other cities.
      The average success rate for Prague on people first game is 20%. Your definitely using up 1 time token per round?

  • @beniknowaviationandhistory

    Hello! So I am still confused on the assasin part of the game. When you covered sphinx you said it was an assasin on the other side but an agent on your side so wouldn't that end the game?

    • @GamingRulesVideos
      @GamingRulesVideos  6 років тому +4

      Correct. When YOU are making guesses, it is only on MY side of the grid that matters. If for example, Sphinx was an Assassin on YOUR side. That means that if I ever guess Sphinx, we lose. But if YOU guess Sphinx, it doesn't matter what it is on your side, it matters what it is on MY side. In this case - an Agent. Hope that helps.
