Oftentimes hope is the only thing that sustains us through hard times, and considering how hard life has been throughout human history, it's a good thing that people had that hope. Yes and no. It's good to be practical and objective about things, agreed. But please understand that religion, like Christianity, for example, has been giving hope to people for thousands of years. Oftentimes hope is the only thing that sustains us through hard times, and considering how hard life has been throughout human history, it's a good thing that people had that hope. You yourself might be able to survive on practicality alone when times are rough, but not everyone can do that.
