The dugout is flooded, the water is still coming! Pumping out the water! Overnight in a log cabin

- Hello everyone, friends! We finally managed to get to the dugout and find out what was going on there. To be honest, we were not ready for this, so we had to go to a log cabin for the night.
The plan was clear right away, you need to pump out the water. At the same time, it was necessary to clean up the territory in the hut and see if the mice were running the place.

You guys be sure to check Hugo for ticks often!🐶❤👍
Perhaps you should think about laying drainage beneath the floor and continuing to drain at a slightly lower level. That means digging again and laying a drainage pipe! This will happen again in the future and is therefore a measure that makes sense.
Maybe add in a sump and pump. That's what we use when the water table is high.
Not a bad idea. Doesnt have to be a large pipe, 75mm would do it I think. Given the slope from the door, they might have to dig a trench about 50-75 meters, getting shallower as it goes.
@user-js4zx1lr2u sounds about right. They had no problems when building or even when the snow was starting to melt. Watching the water flow into the hole under the floor boards by the stove reminded me. Have dug sumps and surface wells by hand in the past so should be doable and seasonal. Curious to see what they come up with. Alex Wild's big dugout also flooded in the big melt but the terrain was different. At least the wood stoves dry things out pretty well but have to watch for mold.
Maybe a perimeter french drain around the dugout as long as it has proper gravel rather than dirt covering it. Would be a more passive drain and they could pump the sump out when it is at the critical time of high water table. Maybe even put up a sensor in the sump that they can monitor as needed. Always enjoy seeing what solutions people come up with.
@@Sharon-bo2se : It's a French term/word, but the Egyptians and Romans already did that with drainage to keep their feet dry. See the history of Great Britain where Romans often had to drain their settlements because it was so wet.
@@user-js4zx1lr2u : Drainage can also be made cheaper if, like the Romans, you use fields or bricks from demolished houses and create an underground drainage channel.
I think that you guys should wash the cabin on the inside with water and bleach, the moment everything is dry, and also underneath the floor boards.
To prevent mold.
My husband sadly passed away last month due to a long condition he had gotten after his longs were affected by black mold..
It really is a very deadly serious problem when your house, anything you live in and sleep in, gets this mold and gets in the longs.
I never knew this before and within 7 years my partner is no longer with me.
Please, do not underestimate this fungus, you guys are still young but the longer you live in spaces where this stuff is, the bigger the chance that your longs can get perceptive to this long disease. And sadly there is no cure and is coughing a lot, so extremely, and slowly suffocating the beginning of the end... 😔
I just wanted to warn you guys, not scaring you but this is reality and I am proud of you all for doing this dug-out lifestyle! I am following you for a few years now and hope to see you for a very long time to come 🙂
So sorry to hear about your husband
Good day guys 😊I felt for you with the dugout shelter been flooded 😢but at least you had the cabin 😊it's nice to see Hugo 👀 the surroundings beautiful and natural 😊 I really enjoy watching your channel 😊 😀 both have a good weekend 👍 Andrew south wales uk 👌 👍 👏 😀
Suggestion to solve flooding woes. Take up the floor board once the place is dry. I think the lowest point should be the entryway. Dig small trenches that go deeper as they get to the entryway, Then, dig a hole in the entryway for the water to collect. Then, dig a trench to lay a pipe in from the bottom of the hole and make that pipe trench head down hill and get deeper until it is where you can let the water flow freely. Put some rocks in the trenches and replace the floor. Put larger rocks in the hole and build an entryway floor so no one steps onto the rocks. This allows a natural flow away from the dugout so you should never have to pump it out again.
At least you have a pump. And the cabin will never leak. I love that cabin it’s my favorite place. Hugo is happy out there playing.
Woohoo! Spring! Big hugs to Hugo he's a great dog and so healthy looking. Greetings from Aus
This very same thing happened to Alex Wild shelter. He was able recover and remove the water from shelter. But even so black mold will be a problem no mater what he does to disinfect. It will set up growth on the opposing surfaces he cant reach to clean and disinfect and will constantly keep appearing inside on surfaces once cleaned. It will release dangerous spores and make those exposed sick. He wrapped his shelter and it was still swamped with water. It will be flooded every season and it will be letting in rain water year round every time it rains even if it isnt seen. Preventing water entry is the key. However one decides to try preventing it. I think that is why many are looking for a better alternative build method for dugouts. I wish you guys the best with the recovery of your dugout. Both you and Alex put so much effort into them for them to be flooded.
Don’t make a big Problem for some water. It’s not an overflow oft townshit, its just water and earth. If it’s dry, the problem is gone after heating for some days.
All they, and Alex, need to is first let it dry out, then get a paint or pressure sprayer and spray either a white vinegar solution, or better yet, water containing 3% hydrogen peroxide. These are biocides that will kill the black mold source on contact and are not harmful.
The sump pump ideas are excellent ones.
A good drying out and a new drainage plan... You'll be good to go!! 👍🏻👍🏻. Also, am missing Nastya! - Am hoping she is well!!
I Hope Hugo doesn't get any ticks, too bad about the flooding, great video
Excellent video guys.Water is always an issue when you go underground but can be prevented with a plastic pipe leading away from the dugout. The only issue is alot of hand trenching but should help with nature. Thanks for sharing😊
I always wonder why you dig a hole and are surprised it fills with water.
When I watched the video of the dugout construction, I could not believe they expected it to remain dry!
❤🎉❤goodvideo❤🎉❤goodworke🎉❤🎉
Sorry your logout floor failed, hope you don't grow mold, you did such a wonderful job on it. The old cabin was fun to revisit, Hugo is grown and settled into his life stile. I hope things work out at the dugout cabin. Take care and be safe. Much love. Afriend.
Somehow find a way to drain the water before it fills. Good work pumping the water out. Take care.
I love water from an artisan spring. Y’all are blessed
Another great video. Good to see Hugo looking so happy 🇨🇦
Sad discovery. Hope you solve the issue. Keep yourselves happy regardless. So happy you have your cabin to use when this happens. Good day.
How do you keep ticks off Hugo. Give him a hug from us in 🇨🇦💝

Hola chicos y hola hugo!!! Que pena lo del agua!!! Y que hermoso lugar ,es alli!!! Un abrazo fuerte!🇦🇷
You and Sasha put a lot of effort to build the dogout 😢. I hope that You can recorver and save the dogout.
A luchar.
I'm so sorry for the water. You have worked so hard on this cabin! Good luck in the.future!
I missed you. Glad everything is good.
I hope, you are not too surprised, what happened???, I knew this will happen, so much snow, and water has no place to go, you need to have some kind of automatic pump system in there, otherwise every spring you will have same problem!!! Good Luck =)
Problem with a pump system is that the dugout is left alone for fair periods. How to power a pump would be the problem. Maybe a solar panel and several batteries. Used a similar system on my boat for the automatic bilge pump.
Está cabañita me gusta más, querido Hugo🐕👍🙏🌹🌟💓🇦🇷
We love your dog...pls take care of him...
Ah! The joys of spring!!!😁
Hugo is the best! Nice 👍
That's awful to happen for you. Is it water that has drained from all the land around the dugout. Maybe you could put a drainage pipeline somewhere underneath so all the water can drain on out down the hill. I'm sure you guys and Hugo will work something g out to fix it.. lovely to see you both again. Always a pleasure to watch ur vidios thankyouvery much for making them. 😊😊😊
holes in the ground always fill with water. Just look at what people go to making a dry basement, even tanking a basement often needs a sump with active water pumping to keep it dry.
Lovely dog ❤
❤good morning
So sorry you got flooded, please be careful about the ticks.
So sorry about your dugout, what is the name of your village, , we love your videos, Big hug for Hugo
Good morning. The water may come back. It all depends on the level of the aquifer.
Hi Guys!🤗Doing great with the water patrol action. I admire the way you are raised to prepare various methods of cooking outdoors. And make delicious looking meals. Your so lucky! Take care, watch out for those ticks. See you next time!🤗🌹✨
Atleast you pump out the water and make delicious meal.
Call a company that deals with household flooding/mold issues. They can recommend Remediation and Cleanup plans. Wood is so permeable that getting mold started that is not treated properly is difficult to impossible to live in. An outdoor drainage contractor company, even internet can give you some construction ideas to fix the water issue permanently so you're not overwhelmed by this every Spring and Fall. Best of luck. You have put so much work in it would be a shame to see it all go to waste.
Be careful with Hugo and the ticks! They are deadly!
video rất tuyệt Chúc bạn buổi tối vui ve

I'm very sorry that the dugout is flooded. But you both make up for it. 👍👍👍❤ 🧡💛
👍🎥👍
Are you guys going to build a new box for the water? You guys are lucky youhave the cabin, since the dugout is flooded.
Nice to see you again, Kids. Ramiro, from Rosario, Argentina
The cabin looks so different when not buried in snow. With Aloha...

So disappointing but you handled it well! 👍🏼
I am so happy to see from you again. 🌟👍 But I am sorry for the dogout. Do you know how to do so it won't happens next spring🤔🌞🥰

Maybe you can build out a second over hang that come out may 6 to 8 ft where the snow will not melt an go into the ground. Make it go around all sides.
Like many dug outs that have flooded this winter precautions should have been put in place from the beginning, you built a swimming pool, my advice if you must have a dugout it to dismantle what you have as almost all you need has already been harvested and to start again . I read a comment on here about the rising water table. Rubbish, it has nothing to do with the water table, I watched this build from the very beginning and even then I could see that this dugout was going to flood like so many others have done this past winter and continue to do so . Great build and enthusiasm but not quite right .
where is Natashya? is she OK?
THAT is a LOT of water! Perhaps you have a seasonal spring of water nearby? Probably some online research into construction drainage will give you some useful ideas about perimeter drains.
Wow THAT is a lot of water! How frustrating to have that happen after all your hard work to clean it up the previous time.
How far is your cabin to the dugout? We love your videos!!!❤❤❤
I guess this is why people build their cabins 3 to 4 feet above ground.
I always wondered how the cabin would be safe from flooding.
Is there a way of water proofing your underground cabin?
Sasha where is Nastya? Miss her videos
I am in Canada and am amazed at how similar things are between there and in Canada. Same trees, same grass, same everything etc. I imagine other than societal changes I could be dropped into that place and not realize I had changed continents. >@^_*@
Ich habe euch vermisst. Ich hoffe euch geht es gut
Could you fashion a v-shaped diversion lying on the ground that would go behind the cabin that would divert the water away from the cabin? Not sure how high it would need to be.
The only hope you have is to dig a ditch below the bottom level of the dug out so the water will drain away from the dugout.
When the water table goes up/ground water floods happen.
👍👍👍
Where do you guys live when you are not in the woods? In a big city or in a small town?
Soak the ticks in alcohol- makes them easier to deal without getting an infection.
I missed something. This is a new guy with Michael. Where did Patrick go?
I am just curious, does your dog get Vet care?
Das ist ein Schock, alles voll Wasser
Hello friends, my question right at the start! How do you protect yourself against those nasty ticks? Do you have a special remedy or trick? Greetings from Germany - Walter 👍🏻
@lifeinthesiberianforest1 - Hugo, long tome no see. Missed you Hugo and your guys already. Is there a list from things you need or nice to have i the cabin?
You should put a water turbine on your spring.
Maybe set up some type of drainage system, for example, a French drain? I am not an expert and am just upset to see all your hard work being flooded like that.
