Now that's a man right there raising his daughter and showing her skills this is awesome
Came to comments to say the same thing.
@Jordan Jones Well said. It's essential for fathers to teach their children to cope with the physical universe, becoming competent by their teens in tool use, furniture making and repair, home repair including plumbing and electrical---the child doesn't have to master these skills, obviously, but she needs to know enough to be able to figure out how to learn what she doesn't yet know, and to not be afraid of any task in these areas.
A competent child is, I'm certain, a reasonably happy child.
First actual wholesome and powerful short I've ever seen. Badass dad with a badass daughter
Agreed that it's wholesome and badass but the first powerful short you've seen? You must be new to short videos.
Also... Why not just pack a mallet instead of a tool that only really makes mallets? It's not like that tool is tiny in comparison because a mallet doesn't need to be that big...
Because if you just bring a mallet, and it breaks? Then you have nothing. If you have this you can make another..
@@StabbyJoe135 did I stutter? No it's letters
@@StabbyJoe135 but now you can make comically large hammers. Also I guess mallets can break, and t suppose you could make other stuff too.
@@gerardkaspar5373 uhh read Tim Walker's reply I'm too lazy to write it out again.
So good to see you sharing your knowledge and expertise with your daughter . That's a sign that you are a good dad .
This comment is 100% underrated!! It is absolutely amazing to see him teaching her what she would need to teach her children. She looked like she enjoyed being with her Daddy!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Your daughter will NEVER forget Daddy spending time with her. You can see the love for you in her eyes.
Where did you get tha I want one
@@klaymermiranda2352 get what? A dad, a daughter, or love? Lmao
@@mahmoodabdulbaqi824 He’s looking for a daddy, obviously.
When you're long gone, your grandkids and your great grandkids are going to be benefiting from the time that you spent with your daughter. Stay awesome!
As long as the crazy republicans dont destroy this country , following a sociopathic con man trump & thinking that fairy tales shoukd make laws
Daddy/Daughter days are the best days of our lives.
@Dr. Pill yo wtf is your problem
@Dr. Pill WTF are you talking about?
A DAD WHO ACTUALLY TAKES THE TIME TO NOT ONLY SHOW BUT TEACH HIS DAUGHTER MUST B AN AMAZING DAD TO HAVE ❤️💓
You're a good Dad. You can tell she is a good daughter, too.
Suggestion: allow her to fail rather than do it for her. Failing is the best learning opportunity and the inevitable success afterwards is more satisfying.
Love to see daddy and daughter bonding. Nothing like the love of a girl for her father 💕.
I like that a lot!!!
That's really cool taking your daughter with you in the woods. She'll grow into a very smart woman. Good job dad!!!
Want me to get it started for you?
*Proceeds to do it all
If you watch closer, you can see the daughters hands are the ones drilling the hole, so he did not do it all.
Ah reminds me of my dad 😆❤
She will rember the days camping with dad for the rest of her life.
That is so great that you can have these experiences with your daughter.
Really kool to see wholesome family interactions; just a bonus that you also show us a useful tool tip!
Awwwww have fun you 2!! 🥰
Great teachings, Dad! She'll have good life-skills because of practical and loving, caring dad. Hooray!
"Get the video camera" I want to teach my little girl something
Awesome 👍🏻 These are the things she’ll remember for ever.
I so don't need one of them but ironically I feel like I need to buy one now lol
They are only 10$ on Amazon. I know because I just bought one 😆
Same lol
Or you could just buy a mallet..
@@billjones5658 you can also make stools, even shelters. Very useful
@@Dwightpower88 but not without buying this tool. Correct?
Also I didnt comment on a video about making stools now did I? It was a video about making a mallet for camping purposes. That's why it's silly to me.
Been using Scotch-eye augers for 50 years. Never heard one called a "settler's wrench". Learn something new every day.
Dads doing things with their kids, especially daughters, is awesome! Keep up the good work!
Really cool I have never seen one but being a machinist I am going to make my own. Great idea
Cool Father and daughter bonding that's Family ♥️👍
I love to see your father and his daughter spending awesome quality time together especially in nature and teaching her something she could survive off of you are a excellent father and Outdoorsman keep up the good work
God Bless you dude for being a real dad!
Real cool, you didn't let having a daughter change how you spend time with your child. Teach her all the manly stuff. I have an 8yo son, I wish I had these skills to teach him. Thanks.
You have time. Learn one, teach one. Make the time or regret later.
A memory that one day an elder grandmother will pass on.
Great tool. So many different things you can make using this tool.
Good Dad.Building memories and lessons that will pass down through the ages-
That's awesome you got a seriously f****** cool daughter that actually wants to get involved and learn things and help her father out and just be there with him that's so cool I'm glad y'all have a great Bond
Obscenity? Really??
Outstanding, that looks really awesome, I've never seen such a thing, now I suddenly have an overwhelming need for one.
Love that you had your daughter a part of your video. I purchased the same settlers wrench, and what I found or felt was that the drill could be a bit longer. Tried making a Swedish torch, and it ended up having to be pretty short.
Where did you get the wrench, and what is a swedish torch?
@@wesman7837 I believe there are at least two different ways in which to make a Swedish torch. The first is where you would take a smaller diameter log (4-6"), and take the the settler's wrench (scotch eye drill bit) and drill down the center of the log. Then you would drill a horizontal hole in the side of the log to match up with the first hole. Next add small dry tinder, and start it on fire, continually feeding it till the log starts burning from the inside out. You could use it as a heat source for both warmth and cooking with, plus it's a slower burn, so last a little longer. The second way is to take a log, would probably be more effective on a larger diameter log, and split it into fourths. Next it out a bit of each wedge. Once that is done, assemble the pieces back together then use some type of material (wire, rope, etc) to bind or hold it in place. So it should look a bit like a hollowed out log. Add kindling to the center, and light it on fire and feed it till the center of the log catches on fire.
I might bring one along camping just in case I need something tougher than my foot to stake a tent. I'm sure that could be handy with starting a fire too and it's pretty small
You can also make a ladder with one. Many things can be made with it. A lot of cabins were built with this tool.
Get it started for her, he went on and started and finished it, bless.
I have to say that's a nice tool
That's excellent, I've never heard of this before.
That tool looks awesome!
Uh… that first line got me “me and my daughter decided to…” All dads should be like this.
I will never need to know this, but now I want to. Thank you
Very useful tool but the quality time with your Daughter…priceless.
When you watch this while holding two drills lol
That settlers wrench is awesome
Dad and daughter spending time together that is more valuable then any materialistic purchase.
Awesome that your daughter wants to hang out outdoors with you
So cool to see father and daughter out enjoying time together!!!

My step dad taught me so much and a good work ethic too. He was killed in an accident when I was 12. I think of him still and thank him always. That was 50yrs ago.

Absolutely the most important tool after a knife, and a firestarter.
There's still hope in America's what this shows us a good dad spending time with his kid God bless you and your kids

Good dad!
I LIKE this!!! Far beyond WHAT they're building... it's HOW they're building it! As a team... Dad and daughter... from one father to another YOU ROCK!!!
That is badazz!! Learning skills like this when you're young is priceless and good character building!
I like how the high five at the end sounded like the mallet lmao. Also you guys are cute in the sense that you can do stuff together and she seems interested. My daughter never does anything I like hahaha
Hammer for all occasions.
Beats rock and paper... and probably ✂️ too
Awesome that your little one is out there with ya in the woods!!!👊
Very nice.
