I miss the days when SPAWN was the baddest awesomeness a$$ -kicker.... over the last couple of years McFarlane ALWAYS has Spawn being butt-kicked all over the place so mucj AL Simmons can't do nothing without someone saving his a$$.
Meanwhile ALL the other spin-off copies of Spawn are portrayed as killer badasses.....all except AL SIMMONS.
It has been my longesg suspicion that Todd McFarlane really REALLY wants to get rid of AL SIMMONS ever since his first attempt to kill off and replace Simmons failed.
I will say I didn’t read 101-299 of the spawn run. And even 302-349 I really didn’t pay attention too. But I definitely here what you are saying, I actually really enjoy the new run and that Al has now powers anymore. I was probably in the minority that thought Spawn was way to powerful, that makes it hard to tell compelling stories, almost the same reason the depowered Superman in the 80’s as well.
Yup I agree. Jim downing was a terrible character and I stopped reading the comics till Al got put back in.
I applaud them for wanting to do something different and I think the reason had to do with some behind the scenes things with the real Al Simmons. But yeah, Spawn is an always will be Spawn.
Wanda is probasbly the worst character in the spawn universe. Not interesting, I hope AL finally moves on fully.
She may have been boring but without her there would be no Spawn. So in that regard she is probably the most important character. But I do believe she should be used sparingly from now on.
@@joemsonntag A plot device doesn't mean we wouldn't have Spawn... Sorry but there's no logic in that. I'm glad they decided not to make her queen of Hell. Todd saw the writing on the wall.
Wanda is literally the only reason Al is Spawn.
