Oof. The TXT universe is a trip. I'm a theory ARMY so I'm super entangled in the BU. The BU is obviously more built out but I think TXT has really pushed the envelope on their story-telling. It's very dark but in a whimsical way. Think Tim Burton, Roald Dahl, Lewis Carroll. There's a huge fantasy element that I haven't figured out if it's real or metaphorical yet. In the BU there's a sci-fi element that I had the same question about so the fantasy elements could very well be literal. But anyway, as far as visual story-telling, they've been very innovative and fresh, so much that I've been referring to what they do as pop theatre. It transcends music. I don't want to call the music secondary to the story because the music is the point but MVs like Nap of a Star, Magic Island, and Eternally really test that. (In fact, the MVs don't even play the full song so I recommend reacting to the studio version in addition to the MV--especially with Nap of a Star bc the production of the song in the MV is really different). I don't have the complete list for the TU but do make sure to include the concept trailers for The Dream Chapter: Magic and The Dream Chapter: Eternally. Lots of narrative especially in the latter. Also, when you get to B-Sides, Can't We Just Leave the Monster Alive is something you absolutely cannot miss. So glad you're checking out TXT more. I really think they're doing something so different. Their songs are really experimental and for just three mini-albums, they span a wide range of sounds so some may not suit your tastes. But I think you'll appreciate the attempt even when the song misses for you. The rapper’s name is Yeonjun, and every month on the scoreboard he was first place in every category lol. He’s a very talented person! Tbh i think TXT inarguably had one of the best debuts in kpop. It had everything a new boy group needed, it was such a fresh concept compared to everything else. Also the lyrics made no sense until the storyline progressed more so I thought it was genius to have lyrics with a lowkey darker message I such a playful mv and upbeat song.

Fyi. TXT was trained more to dark concept and hip hop music before debut. Even Txt members felt awkward andfelt fresh new when they first listen to the debut song and their debut concept. But they still able to do the bright concept very very very well, just knowing that they were trained more to hip hop and dark concept. And now, we are gonna witnessing Txt growing more to dark and matured concept.
When I first heard crown I didn't like it that much either, it was to bright for me and I didn't like the whole young and fresh concept, but suddenly after a few weeks I couldn't stop singing it haha. It really grew on me, crown is a very clever song. Also Yeonjun, the guy you mentioned didn't just get 1st in a monthly evaluation, he was known as bighit's legendary trainee among all the other trainees bc he always came first because of his skills.

I truly got into txt when Runaway came out. So I’m really enjoying them and have become open to brighter type of music. Their live performances made me give them a second chance to enjoy their different sound.

Their storyline is like a fairy tale. :) It's so beautiful. They're using horns, wings as metaphor. You will understand it if you watch "Nap of a star" Mv. For a Txt guide you can watch the 40 minutes long guide by Yeonjunbabie. It is long but most recent and accurate one. It shows some clips of their song but u can mute or skip it.
The crazy thing about bighit is they don't just release MVs for the title tracks but they also release MVs of crazy good quality for the b-side tracks as well.. Like for TXT despite being a group only a little over 1 year old, they have MVs for almost all the songs in the first album and at least 2 MVs for the second and another 2 or more MVs for their latest album TDC: Eternity.. That was why some people who are not deep into TXT confused Puma and Eternally being completely different eras from CYSM but in reality they are B-side tracks to Eternity, the title track being Can't You See Me...
If we're doing a guide next, the most recommended one would be the 40 min long video as it is the most accurate as of recently! I'm actually a predebut MOA but at first Crown didn't fit my taste. Back then I preferred heavy sounding songs and intense beats, etc. But since I really like them a lot, I always watched performances of Crown and everything else they released then. It was only when Nap of a Star MV was released that I really really developed a love for Crown as well. It's when I realized that lyrics are just as important as the visuals and music itself. It's also the moment I realized that some of their songs (like Crown, Run Away, Drama,, etc) have varying levels of eerieness, darkness and sadness in their lyrics when read alone despite how bright they sound. Notably, each album DO progress into a more visibly darker and more mature theme but a friend of mine pointed out that it's like a spiral down into the insanity or loneliness that their debut album was questioning/holding back OR a progression of an innocent child growing up in a dark world where nobody understands them except for one person (as stated in both Crown and Run Away) but this eventually leads to a falling out between the two of them as well (in Cant You See Me?) Phew that was long 😅 Thank you for the reaction tho!!
I loved the sound and was amazed by the effects. I highly anticipated them when they first started. I did notice the little details in the effects too. Like the horns and tail and other things like the contrasting spots (black and yellow spotted rooms)

When I first heard crown I didn't like it that much either, it was to bright for me and I didn't like the whole young and fresh concept, but suddenly after a few weeks I couldn't stop singing it haha. It really grew on me, crown is a very clever song.
Also Yeonjun, the guy you mentioned didn't just get 1st in a monthly evaluation, he was known as bighit's legendary trainee among all the other trainees bc he always came first because of his skills.

The crazy thing about bighit is they don't just release MVs for the title tracks but they also release MVs of crazy good quality for the b-side tracks as well.. Like for TXT despite being a group only a little over 1 year old, they have MVs for almost all the songs in the first album and at least 2 MVs for the second and another 2 or more MVs for their latest album TDC: Eternity.. That was why some people who are not deep into TXT confused Puma and Eternally being completely different eras from CYSM but in reality they are B-side tracks to Eternity, the title track being Can't You See Me...

I'm actually a predebut MOA but at first Crown didn't fit my taste. Back then I preferred heavy sounding songs and intense beats, etc. But since I really like them a lot, I always watched performances of Crown and everything else they released then. It was only when Nap of a Star MV was released that I really really developed a love for Crown as well. It's when I realized that lyrics are just as important as the visuals and music itself. It's also the moment I realized that some of their songs (like Crown, Run Away, Drama,, etc) have varying levels of eerieness, darkness and sadness in their lyrics when read alone despite how bright they sound. Notably, each album DO progress into a more visibly darker and more mature theme but a friend of mine pointed out that it's like a spiral down into the insanity or loneliness that their debut album was questioning/holding back OR a progression of an innocent child growing up in a dark world where nobody understands them except for one person (as stated in both Crown and Run Away) but this eventually leads to a falling out between the two of them as well (in Cant You See Me?)

I loved the sound and was amazed by the effects. I highly anticipated them when they first started. I did notice the little details in the effects too. Like the horns and tail and other things like the contrasting spots (black and yellow spotted rooms)
This is actually my favorite TXT song. This is such a feel good sounding song and even my grandpa who doesn't know anything about kpop bops his head whenever i blast this on our speakers. No lies

Crown is basically about growing pains shown as horns. They are shunned for their horns until they meet someone who also is like them (the person with the wings) and then they could feel accepted together becoming "perfect." Then their horns turn to their crown because they learn that their growing pains don't make them bad and that there are many just like them; they can still be accepted.
The story behind Crown is better explained in the short VCR at the beginning of their "debut celebration show" performance of it. You should check it out if you have the time!

The story is abt a boy with horns. People bullied him and called him a monster so he felt that he was bad and a danger to this world so he decides to run away then he meets a boy with wings who says " your horns are beautiful" then he learns to accept his imperfection and calls the horns it's "crown"

Crown is actually about the growing pains of an adolescent and this also where the storyline starts (And even before that, their debut teasers "What do you see?" and Individual introduction film containing Morse Codes at the end already contained spoilers for their storyline).
The growing pains they kept on mentioning such as the "dizzy headaches and something on my head". As we know growing pains can vary differently such as literal pains we feel growing up, the insecurities we start to feel, making us feel different and isolated from the rest, being confused of our own identity.

This is also where the story of their universe with the boys eventually accepting their differences and doubts, wearing it as their crowns ever since they've found one another. You'll understand what I meant by their universe' imdividual difference means when you'll see Nap of A Star.
