Yeah, Martin 'against the grain' / 'everybody loves it - so I hate it!' Popoff strikes again. Interestingly, when Pete brings up the song, Martin says 'Writing on the Wall' is "...such a cool song"...and it is basically Stranglehold Pt. II + the WotW vocal melody closely follows the riff...for which he dogs Cat Scratch Fever (though that song is not one of my faves either).
To me, Stranglehold is one of the greatest rock songs in the history of rock . And cat scratch fever is classic. Martin being contrarian. Lol. The look on petes face cracked me up. Haha
Glad you did both silly and heavy Nugent songs. Ted was a big part of my liking and wanting to hear heavy guitar players with great tone and good rifs, leads and jams, and he really brought the stuff back then. 👍
I had to check the date when Martin said Stranglehold. Had to make sure it wasn't April 1st and this was going to be another classic prank. I'm still waiting for the punk show.
I bought all of Ted's albums, cassettes and CDs from Ted Nugent through to Little Miss Dangerous and all his Amboy Duke Albums. The reason Ted Nugent, Free For All, and Cat Scratch eventually went double Platinum is because of the coat tails of Double Live Gonzo. The same that Kiss's Alive album did for their first 3 albums.
I don't know much about The Nuge but listening to this episode I noted that both Iron Maiden and Judas Priest have released a song on their respective 1990 albums with a title that was previously used by Ted on 2 of his 80's albums. Tailgunner and Painkiller, which both happen to be closers on the Ted albums but openers on the Maiden and Priest albums!! 🤯 #mindboggling
I agree with Pete. I love Meat's vocals on every song he sang on Free For All! Teds music and Meats vocals ooze that gritty all American upper mid west Michigan, Ohio, Illinois working class mid 70s bleak griminess. A really cool vibe. My favorite album from Ted's first 3 albums.

@@ericrobertson2024 I agree. I was lucky and got to see this tour with Brian on vocals. It was in New Haven, CT. in an old theater with an upper level, place held maybe 500 people. When Ted was playing Great White Buffalo I thought the high ceiling was going to fall in on all of us. I was a huge Ted Nugent fan from the late 70s to early 80s, then I kind found other music I liked better. Just starting to dig back into him. Man, you guys are spot on about the lack of bottom in the mix of Weekend Warriors I love the album but the mix socks Wish they'd fix it
I've always seen "Writing On the Wall" as a superior re-write of "Stranglehold." Love both songs, but "Writing On the Wall" is one of my favourite songs ever. And while I do love "Stormtroopin' " on the debut, the "Double Live Gonzo" version is the ultimate for me. Everything about it can be summed up in one word ¬> 'excellent.'
Interestingly the Amboy Dukes albums created once Ted had became defacto leader - from 1973 + 74 are extremely heavy for the time.. Tooth,Fang & Claw is the sole Ted and/or Dukes album I consider perfect but Scream Dream and Craveman are close.

All of Ted Nugent's early albums of the 70's and 80's were okay with what I call an eclectic rock and roll sound they were okay but his latter albums of the 90's and 00's however I don't listen to them at all but I really enjoyed listening to his best and worst albums thank you Pete and Martin. 🎶🎤🎸🎸🎹🥁🎶
