"Clearly Bill was NOT optimizing his read of the paper. Notice he was sitting in a chair, and not on the can as he should. A clear oversight on his part you'll agree."
Nowadays you have to read the bottom paragraph to get to the truth if they bother publishing it in the first place. Also kids, learn to read between the lines. 😂😂😂
I delivered the Chicago Tribune in the early 1970s. At the time, there were at least four other daily newspapers in that city (that I was aware of). Each paper also published several editions of each day's paper, with updated news, and occasional "Extra" news of important stories. Of course today we have so many sources of information at our electronic fingertips, and people can be better informed than ever. But somehow I think we'd all be better off with the newspaper habits we had in those days.
Bill started out glancing at the sports and the funnies. Pretty soon he's taking two papers, pasting articles in a scrapbook, and reading the editorial page. Someone's OCD got triggered.
In 1963 I took a class in summer school about newspapers. Very interesting. We even visited the local newspaper company. I delivered a newspaper for a few years, and I've been a newspaper subscriber ever since I was 18. I lived in a lot of different towns and cities and always had their local paper delivered daily and Sunday. Best papers? L.A. Times and San Francisco Chronicle...but not anymore. They both are absolute fish wrap papers. I'd rather watch paint dry than read either of those rags.

Al Bundy would agree.
Page 5 - Cat stuck up tree for eight days - it has one day left. Firemen fear the worst.

Now it's not even a human writing or narrating.
Comics first.
Who reads a hard copy newspaper in 2023?
"First, make sure you have eyes. If you do not have eyes, ask a friend to read it to you or learn some Braille."

Worked at Michigan City News-Dispatch Circulation in those days. Read both Tribune & Sun-Times

I'm sure the manager was involved on that gem theft.
Brought to you by the Newspaper Publishers Association and the wood pulp industry
I thought it was a little odd that they included Waltz of the Flowers from The Nutcracker until I saw that Bill was wearing an ugly Christmas sweater.
That 30 year old high school kid was on his way to an ugly sweater party when the newspaper came...

I'll bet this was made for an introduction class for journalism.
Apparently you misunderstood.
I was referring to the same time period when this film was made.
I hope that clears things up for you.
@wendilandkammer8368 I just realized, I replied to the wrong person. I guess I'm the genius I will delete my comment

Newspapers? Haven’t seen or read a real full sized one in years-now it’s the internet!
How to spot government lies & propaganda would have been a better title. At least for the modern day.
G-d willing, By G-d's help in Father and King Jesus' Name, Amen✝️✨
