For Memorial Day weekend, we went up to the Duluth/Superior area for the weekend and also for some railfanning. I must confess that I hadn't been up there for years, a time long enough that I can remember almost full DMIR power on trains. Fortunately, we did see both DMIR painted units. Unfortunately, neither were moving and idling in the CN Proctor Yard. We were staying right next to CN's ex DMIR Proctor Hill, but did not see a ton of ore traffic; partially due to Memorial Day, and at least half of it was at night. We did see some tunnel motors (SD40T-3s) though, which I love. We ended up seeing action from CP, UP (both have trackage rights on BNSF from Twin Cities), BNSF, and CN. we saw tons of cool EMD and GE power on the trip that is rare almost everywhere else. We also saw the Duluth-Two Harbors "excursion train" being led by an ex. DMIR geep. We also drove north to Iron Junction and Hibbing, MN; unfortunately, it was a very quiet morning.
I will be uploading Rochelle Railroad Days stuff straight away, and I will also be in Chicagoland the first weekend in July. I am hoping to go down early on Friday to get a full Metra Rush, preferably on the Metra BNSF line, but nothing is for certain. I will also be up in Green Bay, this Saturday, so I am hoping to get some videos in the Fox Cities or somewhere else on the CN Neenah Subdivision. Someday I’ll go back up to Duluth and railfan CN. It’s been years since I was last up there. But I remember seeing an IC SD40-2 with an OL logo which could very well be that very engine at 46:08.

Nice catches!! Which day in the first weekend of July will you be in Chicago? And which day will you be planning to head to the BNSF? Also not sure if you guys remember me from Rochelle Railroad days?
BNSF Fan 7695 Thanks! And sure we remember you! We want to head there Friday, June 30th, but I'm not sure how early we will leave from home or where exactly we would railfan. I can let you know more over this weekend.
