I've used these a lot in the past. My bettas have always liked them, and it's helped with feeding as well, making cleanup of dropped foods easy to pick up off the bottom of the log rather than the bottom of the tank. They also look nice when certain mosses are superglued to them.
ive only ever had a couple bettas who've ever used the leaf hammock, all my bettas however love the floating log. definitely recommended by yours truly! lol
Caution!!!! I love this for my betta! But be super careful to look for any sharp edges! The inside of mine was riddled with little sharp stabby bits. Over time it can sink but if you take it out when cleaning the water will drain and fry and it will still float.
My Betta boys love their betta logs. I have a 20 gallon long divided tank, and the logs are placed up against the dividers. They use them as bedrooms at night. It is the sweetest thing. When ever it's bedtime you can be sure you will find them sleeping in their logs
I have 2 of these for a plakat and a half moon male. Both of them absolutely love it! It takes them a little bit to associate the log with a safe place to rest, but they love it afterwards.
I just put a betta log in my friend's tank this morning. I didnt expect him to go in, but immediately he went inside and was loving it. Happy i wemt with it lol
I loved how he looked up at the log like... "What is this?...." Betta" go check it out. 😂" Also when he backed into the log, that was priceless. I have a 4 gallon biorb tank, not sure this would work since my tank is curved. Thanks for sharing 😉
One of my kitties Monty must also inspect everything to make sure it's safe. People think he's trying to get snacks, but he doesn't like much hooman food, just needs to check for poison. Unless it's alge wafers, for some reason those are his favourite treat.

I like to DIY my betta logs using craft mesh tubes covered in java moss. You do need to file down the edges to make sure there's nothing sharp to catch fins on. I also put them in shrimp tanks because they love them too.

There are two things to watch out for the betta log: One is paint flaking, which I have experienced myself, and the other is that these things can apparently become waterlogged after awhile. I haven't personally experienced the latter but I've had several logs with flaked paint.
First of all love the name Big Daddy! 😜 makes him sound gansta! Also that little wooden knob bit might be to keep the log balanced so it’s not rolling constantly! Great video. Might need to get some for my babies!
My betta's floating log just began sinking for some reason and even after drying it out it was still sinking. I might get him another since he liked it so much and usually slept in it, but there are also lots of plants right at the surface and I like the look of the tank without it in there soo idk. And if it just sinks after just a few months, I don't want to constantly have to buy him a $15 decoration, (only because I have other tanks too and already have too much budget going into fish gear lol) so I think plants should do the trick and he also has a whole pirate ship that he can go into to really hide.

He just did a Vermont Turnabout, lol (If no one has ever heard of that term, it's actually a 2-point reverse turn or a 2-point turnabout) lol He looked, checked, backed in going one way, and swam out quickly and went the opposite direction, he's a smart cookie, lol
I've had this in my tank for my boy for approximately a month and a half. I'm now noticing that his bottom fin is tearing. There is no infection and there's nothing else sharp in his Aquarium. He sleeps in the log, laying on the bottom. I'm going to remove it and provide him with more plants than he even has now and see if his bottom fin gets better. I honestly think it's too rough inside for their fragile fins. Will be experimenting with a moss covered piece of PVC with rounded edges.
How does it perform in a tank with a current? How can I get it to stay in one spot? Also, once the betta moves in will they go out and enjoy the rest of the tank. Thank you.
Interesting. I wonder if a floating log can be DIYed with papier mache, or air dry clay. Maybe air dry clay mixed with LECA pebbles? You would need tank safe ingredients though.
Might be useful for breeding? Covered to hold the nest better, shorter in height for returning fallen eggs and wigglers. Like to hear your opinion / poss a vid of a trial.

What’s everyone’s thought on a 10 gallon tank with 2 African dwarf frogs and 3 female betas in it (all from the same community female beta tank at my LFS) is it over crowded? I have a nice piece of drift wood with live plants around it that the betas like to hide in, and then a fake stone cave surrounded with live plants that the ADF call home. Haven’t had any issues or anything but the 2 female betas are recent additions. For the longest time it was just the frogs and 1 female beta from that community tank but she would follow the frogs around watching what they were doing so I figured she was bored/lonely and got 2 from her old community.
I just noticed your review. I put one of these in my tank less then a week ago. I went to do water change and noticed it is flaking. I took it out and rinsed it and it flakes so I left it out.

technically yes but no bright colored males as male Betta may see them as another betta and target them. I personally haven't had community tanks but generally larger than 10 gallons is reccomended

U could strap something that floats onto it like a cut up dollar store pool noodle & some zip ties. Might save u some $$$

A small sponge filter is your best bet.

I have 3. Two in my 30G betta sorority, 1 in my 2.5G with my big female.
I had one of these for a while, and it actually stopped being able to float. The paint chipped off as well. My betta loved it though
