Hi Kate! My first cruise to the Caribbean for 10 days was on a brand new Royal cruise ship. It was truly an amazing experience and I was hooked! I loved going on the deck in the evening with the cool mist hitting my face. I haven't really traveled internationally since COVID. Thanks for your common sense talks on life and thoughts to cruise again. I took a local rec center class to learn about native plants and trees to attract bees, birds and other critters to create a biodiverse environment that is critical to live abundantly. Take care!

Kate I absolutely agree with you about no extra school work for children during the summer.also I'm completely against homework because that is my time with my children. A couple of suggestions up books you may like would include The four winds by Kristin Hannah and also by the same author The Women about a group of nurses during the Vietnam war. Both are fiction. Hope you are nowhere near the fires in northern California. Praying for you and your family.

Hi Kate! Oh my gosh, I wish I didn't have to have a car. I never thought I'd say that but it's true. My car is older, I've broken down several times and get so worried driving anywhere, especially in this heat. However, where I live, you can't walk to anything, so I need one and I have to take my dad to his doctor appointments. It's so congested here in the valley, so I try to go at off times but there really aren't any off times anymore it seems like.
Your garden is looking so beautiful! I love your pet blue jay that follows you around. I'm surprised Molly doesn't chase it off.
That's so great that your hubby is into switching chores for a bit and is good at them. You're all such a wonderful family.

I love living in a place where I don’t need a car. Save a fortune. No gas, no maintenance, because even a paid off car still need maintenance and replacing. My mother in law is now 74 and she has never had a car, my sister in law is 47 and never had a car. We bike, walk, bus, train, airplane, haha

I think of you just keep getting rid of the preservative laden foods and eat as Whole Foods as possible, as much as you garden, walk, and exercise, the weight will just naturally drop off
My husband was diagnosed with Type II diabetes last year and our diet has changing significantly in the past year due to the above.
Lots of water, Whole Foods, cooking at home, fresh fruits and veggies, salads at least 2x/week for dinner.
I dropped 20 lbs 4 years ago but was eating crap and ended up at the hospital twice for severe anxiety. (I had shared this with you before).
Also found out I am allergic to Aspertame which was in all the diet soda I was drinking , foods, and even the gum I was chewing at a pack/day…
So unhealthy.
No more.
Keep doing what you are doing and be well and healthy my friend

Control issues 🙋♀️. Mine comes mostly from anxiety, I think, but the older I get, the more I let go. And decluttering really helps me in many ways. I’m back on that, too.

Book rec: The Ten Thousand Door of January by Alix Harrow
Generally I am not a fan of Harrow. This is the only Harrow book I've enjoyed. This book touched the sad broken little girl in me in the best way possible. It is wonderful magical realism, but not too much.
ETA: love Car Wash! It is HIGHLY offensive by today's standards, but I could not care less. Too many good memories! "Those" movies are just part of our generation's entertainment. Yesterday we watched Caddyshack. Still hilarious!

The Pointer Sisters, yes!! We also watched Beverly Hills Cop last weekend. I'd forgotten what a fantastic soundtrack it is. The Pointer Sisters are featured at least twice on the soundtrack.
VERY personal question: How are Bali and Sam adjusting to Mariah being Mariah?
Sam could care less. They still play and argue the same. Bali took time. But we are here to nurture and protect and love. That is it.

Kate can you show the process in budgeting a cruise on a tight budget.
Well, there wasn’t much of a process. I received our tax returns and I chose a cruise and flights within the money that we had allotted and I worked with Travel Agent and I told her this is how much money I have this is a cruise I want to take. How can we make it happen.
