"If you are wealthy and guilty you are treated better than if you are poor and innocent."
We are all f*****! 😕
That should go along with that pledge of allegiance bulls***.
If you're poor, in any country, you're f***ed. If you're rich, you're handsome or pretty, funny, fun, exciting. It doesn't matter how big of a douchebag you really are. Ahhh, America. Christian nation gots it all figured out. Jesus would be proud. 👍
The law is for people that aren't rich and connected enough to wiggle out if it.
The LEFT are the ones that are partnered with the corrupt CORPORATIONS 🤮 The corporations have liberal, woke and rino sponsors and corporations have to obey them🤮🤢😡 Trump made the bottom half of all wage earners and workers salaries grow at a higher and faster rate than the top one percent of all workers and wage earners😎🙂
The worst SLAVE owners were JEWS from Europe (it's true look it up)🤮🤢. Jon Stewart has every liberal, woke and rino sponsors supporting him🤮🤢😡🤡
It's not only a two-tier justice system, it also speaks to how damn expensive and inaccessible the law is for the vast majority of people. The law and medicine in the USA is a kill machine.
Those with money want to control those without.
It's all working as intended.
The poor actually supports the division. They adore the rich and powerful and hang in loyalty to them if they do wrong. Nothing is more evident than the adulation given to Donald Trump. And the gall of Lindsay Graham to beg for donations of $1 or $5 to support legal fees for him. The poor who scream constantly of the pressures of the bad economy, are willing to give their last to support this rich man in his troubles. So, yes the division of society between rich and poor is very much accepted
What good is it being wealthy and privileged if you don't have a routinely oppressed underclass to measure your privilege against? They don't want to just HAVE privilege, they want it illuminated in flashing neon lights. If those without the means got the same courtesies, it wouldn't feel like privilege anymore. (Yes, satire here)
You people are insane! Blacks are committing horrendous crimes in the liberal cities and released the same day!
People in modern societies deserved three free things: education, healthcare, and _justice._ Lawyers need to be affordable, contracts and laws need to be easy to understand by the average person, etc. Otherwise this happens.
none are available (for cheap at least) in USA.
"Lawyers need to be affordable" - Good luck with that! I'd be happy if Lawyers were simply HUMAN! I'm currently looking for one, and it's worst than being a ugly guy in a bar of ALL hot women. Our legal system is hyper monetized and mix that with good ole human nature. This is ALWAY a recipe for disaster.
We are not in a modern society. It’s regressed and we are going to have to figure out to civilize the degenerates that are ruining our country.
Lol, yes, and soon we will also have flying unicorns.
The new ai models should be able to simplify the laws and contracts for people within years, but im sure lawyers will fight it. Too many middlemen in all industries.
Rich people don't face consequences. They just spend money as "the cost of doing business".
That is the definition of "consequence".
@X P Do you live in a fantasy world? "Cause and effect" is the same as "action and consequence".
@@luciferthedoberman8991 come back when you're sober, I don't have time to argue with drunks
When the punishment is a fine, it just means it's legal for the rich.
That is how I felt as a kid having fun with my car... before the point system I alternated deferred and defensive driving so nothing on the record and just paid the fees.
Debtor prison, racism, classism, corruption, preferential processes, and so much more! Our system is chock full of it.
It's in the interest of the Upper Class to keep us fighting each other down here at the lowest rungs of society. They do NOT want a Class War, so they keep us occupied by stewing Race and Gender Wars. Do you think any of these Republican politicians REALLY care about Trans people? This is theater and we're all buying the hotdogs. The headlines are all Trans Outrage, but nobody reports on bills that sneak through filled with payouts to Black Rock and Lockheed Martin.
And no body wants to do anything about because those in power are getting rich off of it.
Most of what you listed sits under the umbrella of classism.
forget where i heard it, think was a cop. said its a inside joke that cops all know rich peoples drug dealers and can name every house they will stop at and arent allowed to do anything about it or they will lose their job
imagine robbing a liquor store at 15 and being sad that the cops tried to stop you
"If you're wealthy and guilty, you're treated better than if you're poor and innocent." 'Quite a damning and concise analysis of the state of affairs in this country. And it has always been this way in "the land of the free."
This applies to the rest of the world also. Ours is the same
@@Robbie_Smmmmm conservative shill says what?
I would not limit myself to two justice system, there are simply two different societies as a whole. If you have money your experience of society is dramatically different. As a whole.

Congrats you're a grown up now
Law enforcement and the justice system in America is a disgrace to humanity. Abolish qualified immunity and hold the police accountable for their actions individually. would be a good first step.
The most fascinating (and frustrating) thing is that there will be people that will defend this system
Jon Stewart delivering news again makes me so happy and hopeful.
Jon says he's not news.
What news? It's his usual lib b.s.!
Jon is not news in the true sense of what news is, but then again he never was trying to be despite there being any resemblance. What he had here was a discussion, let's not confuse it. Interestingly enough, the same way Jon is not news, neither is the establishments which claim to be news.
@@nicolamcostello Who said he's god?
Very weird thing to randomly say.

It is always good to hear Jon Stewart talking about topics that no one else wants to touch. It is done with intelligence and sincerity. We need to hear from more guests like this to help all of us understand the problem we as a country face. Now, we as a country need to take action!
Yes he is intelligent and sincere but he is also highly biased and partisan.
Nothing says independent journalism like being in bed with the ruling party and its apparatchiks.
"Stop resisting" is the work song the police sing while they beat your ass.
Vast majority of beatings occur after resisting. Watch all the tapes that have spurred protests. All people resisted before being beaten not after
Black people do anything but just stop resisting and be surprised when the police get mad
@@johnhenry4844 the police are beating up everyone, not just black people.....

He even had an appointment! He was such a busy and important man that he had an appointment to turn himself in. That he was late for. Over three hours late for. If it was any of us, if we even got an appointment, if it was 11:01 and we didn't show up they would have half the police force lining up to beat us to death.
Well, you also have someone who's the leading candidate for the opposition party being hauled into court on really dubious criminal charges prior to the election. That's exactly how they do things in, say, banana republics. The party in power is jailing the opposition.

Well, he was the king of pop.

It’s partially true, because the only laws the rich have is that everything’s “free”

What has your "eye color and quite white" got to do with it?
Please John Stewart, run for President one day. We need smart, thoughtful, charismatic people with good morals to run this country and inspire others like you to make the choice to attempt achieving leadership roles as well. You Sir could be the savior of the country and I truly believe that 🙌 ❤
What a line: "None of those people have been to law school". I would add that the "hard right" haven't been to any school!
They get there law degree from Fox News, lol.
No Republicans go to Law school. Jon has amazing guests.
Let's not get it twisted. A lot of them have gone to schools like Harvard, Yale, Princeton. It's important to keep that in mind, to keep in mind those schools' legacies of racism and classism
Stunning and brave! Nothing screams intelligence like extremist platitudes... Without even a hint of surprise, this is exactly what I expect someone like you to think. Devoid of reality, but makes you feel good in the feels department. I guess all those people who said not to underestimate your enemy were wrong...
It's very dangerous to assume that these people are just stupid. Some of them are quite intelligent and intensely driven and very, very evil.
Jon for President.
Jon, would have the support he would need to compete.
Nope
He'd probably never do it which is why he'd be great.
Without a doubt!! 👏👏
If he ran for president and won, a lot of what he does now would be stripped from him. He would lose his freedom to say and do a lot of what he does now. People don't seem to understand the restrictions the office of president places on a person who sits in that office.
The professor is absolutely hilarious. We need a bit of healthy humor to just make it out half sane folks. Reality was fucked up badly by Trump & co. ❤️🙏
I mean, reality has been pretty F’d up for a while. The former president just made it obvious just how F’d up it is.
Both sides are guilty, anyone claiming this is partisan wrong doing by the other side is lost within their own side's cult. Most people won't ever accept, or even consider such a concept, which actually also fuels the fucking up of reality that you claim was done by Trump and co.
@@south6bt PARTS of both sides are guilty. The whole two sides of the same coin dismisses the people in the system that are trying to change it. Those are the people who we should try to be reelecting
Actually we need to step back and admit that it was fucked way before him. He just was super obvious about it, and yes totally made things worse.
@@south6bt to every action, there will be a reaction - let's start out from these premises. A second approach would be to look at what makes people tick - if they feel threatened in their identity or rights. So you know, if you put these two considerations together, you can see why people will react negatively when they're challenged in their sense of self and sense of safety. We can also draw some conclusions on how these very primordial fears have been amped by authority figures and representatives to try and manipulate public perception. In this sense, it would be a very reductionist and not exactly accurate argument to say that ''they're both as bad as each other'', because there's clearly a party here that was expansive over another party's sovereignty and what we're seeing now that Trump was removed, is the reaction to his ''legacy'' of trespassing and disrespect. We entered the age of repairing all the damage that fool has done over the past years.
Melissa Murray and Jay Jordan 👏👏👏
“Justice” is now a commodity, with enough money you can buy it. Jon, I really appreciate you and your team for raising my awareness; hopefully you can spark some change. I live in Minnesota. What happened to Floyd was terrible. The pearl clutching began immediately and false information was thrown out. FOX News made it worse along with other conservative News outlets.
I tend to listen to NPR as it is straightforward. You need to watch everything you read as it may be slanted. The Internet is full of misguided and bigotry laden trolls.
More Melissa Murray!
How sad to know that in this country if you are wealthy and guilty you are treated better than if you are poor and innocent 😟
To be fair the more important factor is connected. This is what we need real democracy for. So that the common man can hold every aspect of government accountable.
Best is to be an illegal. Everything free and above all law.
Let's not get this twisted.... bad decisions usually have bad consequences. Stop making everything about race and poverty. This is called natural selection. Culture absolutely feeds the demon so let's be realistic in our approach.
@@Furiends that would imply government is prone to corruption, in which case, why should anyone believe this indictment against a private citizen by the state is justice and not persecution?

I'm sure the corruption prone government is completely above board in this one instance.

I don't know that it's "two different systems" of judicial processes, but it's PAINFULLY OBVIOUS that it's an easier process to navigate if you come prepared with enough of your own resources.😔
Seriously, we're screwed.
Having been a prosecuting attorney in the Military, I can say, it’s not a two-tier system. It’s more of a spectrum. It wasn’t just if you were black, but how dark is your skin? Do you talk with an accent? What is your social-economic status? All these factors not only decided if you were ‘guilty’ or ‘innocent’ but also impacted how long you’d stay in jail.
I remember getting a ticket for not stopping at a stop sign. When the city attorney found out I was ‘part of their club’ I was informed I just needed to bring them the ticket before the court date and they would make it go away. I was friends with the district attorney. When he was pulled over for drunk driving, the young policeman was told to simply ‘escort him home and not charge him.’ We do not have equal justice in this country.

If President Ford would have chosen to stand for justice instead of sweeping nixon’s bullshit under the rug, much of the last 50 years of politics would have unfolded differently.
