- Got this truck on E-bay back in Jun 2022. It was in pretty bad shape. Got it for $75. This one was really fun restoring. I like the way the paint came out.
The sticker on the side came out a little crooked as I tore the tendon and my thumb and could use it. Now I need to have surgery.
superb job, Jimmy. Thank you for the video and hope to see your next Restoration…🔩⚒️⚔️🔧⛓️🛠️🛠️🔨👍
Very nice job
I'd like to see some more realistic, or modern type, tires for these toys. Some fat low profile wheels, and tires make a big difference. I had a Tonka 58 Ford dump truck back in 61! LOL!
They're sold now, although they're custom made on a 3d style printer but look awesome when painted to match or contrast. The guy that does make them does it on his time when he's on his slow time during the year.
Great job, Jimmy. I like the color too. Nice beard by the way!
Thank you!!
They don't make toys like they used to
What kind of paint do you use on the type of rubber? Is that to prevent dry rotting?
looks good, where did you get the replacement stickers?
If I can't make them myself as water decals, I get them from Gasolinealleytoys.com.
If the truck was just going to be restored to look like any other truck you could get anywhere else it should have been left alone because that patina took decades to become what it was and now it's just another plain, everyone has it truck. These videos show trucks being ruined that should have been preserved. It's only original once.
To much orange peel! If you guys would get off the powder coat and put some real paint on these, such as basecoat clear coat you would have a very glossy smooth finish. I have been painting these for years and haven't had the amature looking jobs you guys do. Also you can put two tone and stripes on them.
Sorry, but this is a medicore restoration. The paint job could have been better. Given the amount of rust, puttying was really necessary.
Paint no good
