Good luck with one of the best coaches there is, Cardinal. He's a great recruiter & an even better guy. Best of luck with your Stanford future, Kyle - you will surely be missed in Pullman
Wish him the best, but his response at 34:20 gives me pause, looking for "6-tool" guys who can "dribble, pass, drive, shoot, defend, rebound." That was Dawkins's and Haase's ideal player too. Problem is everyone else wants the same and ACC teams like Duke and UNC will get the best of the 6-tool recruits. Stanford is successful when they recruit to their strengths. I would prefer some guys who can post down low and rebound, other guys who can dribble and drive, and others who can shoot and pass. Specialization and division of labor. Montgomery understood Stanford's recruiting limitations and implemented a system that worked at Stanford. Harbaugh did the same for football. You think Stanford football could have won the Pac-12 3x in 4 years by running a spread option offense like everyone else? No, they had to be different.
Coach Smith seems like a good guy. But so was the last coach. Stanford could open up its' NIL wallet and absolutely dominate in the major sports if they cared enough. A sleeping giant.
Thanks for everything you did for WSU, good luck and success for you and your family.
Best of luck at the Farm, Coach. I respect your decision to put family first and live out your dream in the process. #GoCougs
