Thank you! I'm just learning how to wrap cords properly as I'm just starting out my backpacking adventures.
I've watched a few different ones on how tobwrap cordage and this is the easiest and most efficient one ice found and think this will be my go to. I especially like how you can pull a small section off a larger on, cut it, tie it and not disturb the rest of the bundle. Thanks again
Thanks for sharing this. This is now my favorite way to store paracord and small diameter rope. Awesome!
Boyscout style! It brings me way back. Thanks for the memories!
Thanks for the video. That's the exact method I've been using for both my Paracord and heavier rope. Nice...simple and efficient!
Thank-you. I have tons of Paracord bundles in my various packs and always struggled trying to keep them neat without tying them up too much (so they then become hard to use). This method is perfect
This is my favorite way to carry paracord. A clear demo. Thanks
Prefect timing! I was just about to store away some excess cord, and this is the perfect system imo. Easy deployment is key! Keep up the good work.
I love it.
so much faster than the other methods.
I took it a step further when I found the ust 550 tinder paracord.
It has an 8th strand which is fire tinder.
when I do my outside wrap I wrap it around my fire flint as well.
It doesn't pull out from the center but it still deploys very quickly.
Now I have my paracord and/or a fire available in about 10 seconds.
Thanks for sharing this.
This is now my preferred method.
Thanks, I just wrapped my para-cord up... worked out perfect!
I have seen a few of these demonstrations, this one is made easy. Thank You!
Great tip, will definitely have to rewatch this video a few times and practise to get it locked down. Thanks from here in London ~Peace~
Great technique, works really well. Cheers for post, love the channel.
Great way to wrap your cord. I usually only use a few loops around the bunch to avoid a twisted cord when deploying but your method of wrapping the whole cord would for sure be less prone to snag. Thanks for sharing ;)-
Very cool way to store paracord. Thanks for sharing.
I have a jig set up for that. basically a 2x4 with nails at each end. works well! great video.
Good job. Always a good way to carry paracord or rope. Thanks.
Really good tip. Nice and easy, thank you!
SUNLIGHT HAZING VIEW
Awesome Vid. Very helpful, thank you. Now I know how I will store my para cord in my pack.
Great tip... Thanks for posting it.
Nice demonstration. Thanks
Awesome! I've been doing similar for years now but I haven't been getting the initial section of rope in that criss-cross pattern. Will have to try this. Thanks!
i just tried this, this is easy and useful, thank you!
I like it, thanks. This will help a lot to keep my cordage undercontrol when using it. =)
~Joe
Cheers Mate!
The finger weave is called a butterfly weave. Good video and information. Thank you
Great Tipp! Thank You!
Its fast its tidy and ready to use, thank you
Thank you!
My favourite way of storing paracord is what is called a "Paracord Donut". It is super easy, depending on how much you have you wrap some of it around you're fingers and do a daisy chain all the way around. It is a lot more compact than the fast rope way and deploys just as easily.
I like that method Ill be trying this method
Great video! Just did a similar tutorial on my channel last week! Love the quick deployment of it as well! -Woody
Great way to store paracord for larger amounts of cord I use a 2x4 with 2 nails and use this method works great.
I feel like this method is good for smaller portions of cord. If you are using super long pieces I would recommend the donut method
I have 2 of these (smaller ones of about 20 - 50 ft) clipped to each shoulder of my hunting backpack. It also allows me to have a carabiner available to hoist game with a trucker's hitch too. The paracord slides over the carabiner better than cord over cord.
Thank you and it works.
Thank you so much!
I like your method. I would combine the way you wrap a quick deploy strand with Paul Scheiter's method of joining a group of strands by looping them together with a strand if para cord. Thanks for all your great videos.
awesome thanks and by the way those gloves are cool
Works slick. Tanx.
Another great video Krik and Stony. Simple and very useful. I was also wondering about the gloves/mittens. Hard to find much hardcore winter gear here in Georgia but we could use some right now.
they are the gander mountain guide series. i forget exactly what i paid for them, as i have a pair as well. but i'm pretty sure they were under $20. check out gander's site. they may have some left. - stony
I couldn't find any left on gander mountain but I saw some similar ones by Fox River (the sock company) they are called Glomitts on there. Don't know how good they are but worth checking out.
deepblu01
Thanks for the detective work. If I get some I'll do a review of them.
Cool vid nice and tidy
I like your idea. I’m going to use it on my next BWCA canoe trip. I like your checked jacket. Where did you get it?
Hey Krik, just tried this out and what should I say? Its Awesome! Put 40ft of Paracord into this. Thanks for showing!
How do you measure how much you need to coil the outside part, do you just eye ball it. I always end up having to much or to little.
Thanks for the video again!
I've been wondering how to do this. Thanks.
Grazie è veramente un'ottimo metodo
I do it the same way but for cord too long to do on my hand I use my feet instead of sticks, its just as easy, good in the mountains where there may not be any sticks and I get a little sit down after packing up while I do it
Nice
I use my hand for smaller lengths. For the longer ones, I drilled 4 or 5 holes in a 2x4 with a forstner bit and put 12" long pvc pipe sticking up like you used the sticks. I can choose the hole depending on how much length of rope I have. I also use carabiners in the tag end with the loop attached to my pack. If i need rope quickly, I just grab the hank of rope and pull. The tag end stays on the carabiner and I am able to pull the rope out quickly for whatever I need.
"I use my hand for smaller lengths."
That phrase could work on so many different levels.
Nice idea.
I like to create daisy chain donuts to store my paracord. It allows me to pull off just what I need from a larger section of rope.
I like it. I'm gonna have to give this a try. How much would you say to leave out to wrap around for a 40ft length?
-Jacko
I really dig the gloves/mittens. Where did you get them?
Thanks, fast and easy
Jayson Bird You're welcome.
pretty interesting, what do you think of the spool tool?
Just out of curiosity, why do you weave the rope in your hand. I've seen others do that too. Very good video
Cool
sweet way to tie the cord
This is similar to how I pack and store my heavy duty extension cords
this is very helpful. i often times find myself wanting for a longer stretch than what fits my wrist.for that reason, i have never taken a bracelet apart. this would be great with the cord that contains 8 lb test fishing line as an 8th strand.
not to get totally off subject, but who made your glommits? i've been searching for a fingerless pair that also has the ability to fold back the thumb... 100% wool, as yours appear to be. my search has been more difficult than i thought it would be. i had given up for the winter until i watched your video just now.
thanks!
Robert Marriott I bought them at Gander Mountain. They're alright. But to be honest, they didn't hold up that well.
i think that if you make that knot you just put some stress in the paracord if not use often.
Where did you get ur red jacket..I want one.
How do you keep the first wrap from unwrapping?
Put the carabineer through all the loops. Thanks.
where did u get ur jacket... and what make is it.. ?? great vid by the way...
james town I was wondering the same..I want that jacket...if u know please tell...lol
Yeah ive seen it around, they seem alot cheaper then filson but i live in washington so they are everywhere but i cant afford a 300 dollar wool coat, they look killer tho.
You ever try checking out the thrift stores for clothing/gear? The other, older, Woolrich coat I wear was found in a thrift store. Super cheap. -Krik
That's how I do it.
Is turtle in the intro a reference to
the typical folk who take their shell
ie: their tent around with them?
Or is it some sort of first nations terminology?
+Allistaire A none. TMNT reference.
+Black Owl Outdoors TMNT Big fan of those guys. They kick butt!
Kirk can you do a video on that coat? Is it filson?
Not Filson - Woolrich. We've been getting a lot requests to do a video on this coat. Are you familiar with Woolrich? -Krik
Hi, and greet's from Ireland. Firstly, and I delive this to be the most perplexing, but why do you refer to your viewers as "Turttles"? I have watched several of your videos and like the content, although I would NOT like to be the cameraman! Especillly in this episode!:-P I purchased a roll of "Mil-Serp" olive green paracord and have cut 1 length of 50Ft for a ridge line and 4 X 25Ft for the corners, I have them bundled with the tail/working end wrapped arround the middle and the last wrap arround the end tucked in. Your system is FAR more effective. (Not to mention easier to deploy and neater!) So I would like to thankyou for this tutorial and with your permission will use it on me own paracord. Have a good one! :-) Kev B
Not really tangle free was it?
What kinda gloves are those?
RAG WOOL MITTENS
Yellow King Thanks for letting me know, I've been waiting for the answer to that question for three years. Now would anyone know what company makes that jacket? Black owl does not respond to peoples questions.
What brand caribiner is that? (Waiting for another 3 or so years until they answer me).
Yellow King.......they’re from Carcosa!
This is quick and easy. The only problem I have is using my hand. It's so small.
Use your thumb to index webbing down your forearm to your elbow, it will make a longer loop for you. Or wrap around your calf or thigh and slide it down over your foot controlling the loops for in between sizes. Hope this helps
i like your gloves, where can i find them ?
gander mountain had them. not sure how much winter inventory they have left. - stony
Its not bad, but i prefer paracord doughnut!
No pigs tail - clean.
I like it better than the doughnut.
In a survival situation, other than tying and lashing items, how would you or why would paracord? You wouldnt be suspending yourself down a mountain with only a small portion of cord? u carry a LOT Just curious. As I am trying to figure the best option for my pack.
+yotagerlie the 40' section you have would work to suspend yourself, what knots would you use to do so?
+yotagerlie hey yota, looking forward to your adventure. Stay safe. I'm a new subscriber
+Brisco Blank I dont have a youtube channel right now just because the world wide web is a scary place for a single girl.. I hope to one day have my own, but once I find a mate (I feel it would be safer that way)
Milan: woo, a scary man.
Did he just call me a turtle
did you just assume my species!?
turtle
I used my big toes.
+Nein1ron You must have really long toes, or a short cord. :-)
Take the FN gloves off and stop calling me turtle!! :-)
