So glad you did this song. The lyrics were a huge influence on me quitting drinking (6 years dry and counting). Gotta reccomend the groove metal gods White Zombie , electric head part 1 would be a perfect intro , but more human than human's better known.
Tool is by far one of the most technical bands that have ever made music. It's not very often they write songs in 4/4, but even in odd time signatures they still manage to groove. I don't care what type of music you like, Tool transitions across all styles and you just have to respect the music they put out.

I love the reactions to Tool 😂 I absolutely love them and I could argue Danny Carey is #1 🤤 When I first watched him in Pneuma I was stunned. You hear so much more of what's going on when you can watch the drummer. Polyrhythms galore and crazy ass triplets. He's a God. He can separate all 4 limbs and play a different rhythm on each. He's like you said "🐙 on 🥁"
Yes, the instruments are mind blowing.....so are the lyrics. It's a transcendental experience to go through, embracing all of it. Tool is profound to the state of consciousness, the instruments help carry us there. The lyrics are always just as powerful!✌

It really is a rabbit hole, but such an incredible journey to take...these are early Tool, this is still my all time favorite song. Every album is awesome and so are Maynard's other bands A Perfect Circle and Puscifer. You might want to check those bands out too 😉
Just learned about this channel so I will have some late comments. Cool thing about this band is that if you heard the instruments on separate tracks they dont sound like the same song. Some some how, put together, it still sounds good. Definitely the drums that makes this technique work.
I know you are loving Danny's mad skills but you should check out Maynard Keenan's trilogy tribute to his mother. It starts with the song Judith from his side band A Perfect Circle then continues with Wings for Marie pt 1 & 2 from Tools 10,000 days album. In my opinion one of Maynard"s greatest works. The songs take you thru his grieving process of losing his mother, who suffered for like 20 years before she passed away. But she never lost her faith. Thanks & keep up the great reviews man.

You're the first reactor Ive seen that's commented on Danny's solo where it does sound like he's changing tempo. He's actually not, but the way he plays with wierd syncopations makes it sound like he is.....the whole Aenima album opened my eyes to what you can do with the drums instead of just keeping straight 4/4 time. Danny totally plays by feel to create what can only be described as a monster behind the kit.
You like drums? Ticks and leeches and Jambi have some amazing... As well as Disposition/Reflection/Triad(should be listened together). Keep listening to Tool and your life will never be the same
