Lisa stan yes,yes I did. It makes me sick too. There will always be haters on the Internet.when I said said changing ,it’s not something that happens over a few months. Compare the change in number of people in the past generation and that in ours that are embracing our skin colours. I do believe that social media has a major part in this. Or else we would still be stuck in our big fairness bubble.

Lisa stan also now seeing all the petitions and boycotting of fair and lovely and other fairness creams, and the variety in the foundation shades compares to one or two that were available when I was younger, gives me hope

Gay vOdKA that’s completely okay. It’s a comment section after all :) yeah I do agree with that but when the standards are change, don’t you think mindsets change too with the exposure the standards create ?I’m not saying that we’re already there and everything is perfect now. This is pretty much S.Korean B. Standards. It's awful the way you must to look tall, even if your genetics doesn't come for it, and look white, even if you aren't, and never will be., and to not speak about the weight is beyond health. Doesn't consider the individual's genetics and differences, it's like building an army of robots.

I find it interesting that the heroine of the Mahabharata, Draupadi, who was considered the most beautiful woman in the world, had *skin dark as night.* Arjuna's skin was dark as night as well, and so was Krishna, before later depictions began to show him as blue. The three were called "The Three Krishnas" because the Sanskrit name: Krishna, itself means dark skin.
And while I haven't gotton into the Ramayana yet, I do remember reading somewhere that his skin was dark as well. Of course, I might be wrong on that part, and would edit the comment if i am wrong.

I did makeup for an African fashion show. The girls where requesting me by the second show. Black skin in all shades was so different and gorgeous and exotic to me as a lady that had only had the opportunity to use makeup on light skin. I'll never forget using blue shimmer as a highlight on the blackest and most beautiful model in my own opinion. Ladies, wherever you are out there it was a delight to enhance your natural beauty those two events! One of the best artsy nights of my life...ooh and to watch them walk what a night. And to be asked and lined up for as a new makeup artist gave me artistiv confidence i still draw from after all these years. Black is sooo beautiful and I'm so lucky I volunteered to help out and see them walk the catwalk..

I want to put it out there that when Indians say they prefer light skin, they don’t mean the ideal skin color is that of white people. The ideal skin color would be light brown or the the Persian color (and that of North Indians from Punjab, Jammu, Himachal, Haryana, Gujarat etc) And this was true before any white person stepped foot in the continent. The Manusmirti mentions the ideal color as ‘not too dark neither too white’. No one wants to be white. I’m saying this because a lot of white people have this delusion that Indians want to look like them. That’s not true at all.

I see muslim south asians trying to claim that they look more persian and arab and unless they descendents of persio turkic families or Iranic pathans they really dont look that different, only a little difference but not closer to anygroup just different. A lot of 'activism' now a days is all about making us ashamed for striving for the looks of our ancestors, casting the natural looks and colors of our civilization-builders as 'non-Indian'. It's a deep conspiracy. I mean entire communities, entire region of people have those features, regardless of color. Yet the conspiracy is to tell Indians we do not look like that. We should either look like Europeans or the internationally idealized black skinned persons. Never mind neither of these have Indian features. Forget skin color, but we should not be ashamed of idealizing our ancestors' features, since they are unique in this world.

You guys don’t get just how much skin color affects being cast in film roles. In southern India, tollywood and kollywood often cast women from the north, because they usually have fairer skin. Even if the actress can’t speak in that language, she’s cast solely based on her skin tone. Even worse, in recent years, I’ve seen a few white British women who are cast as the main Indian female lead, like Amy Jackson. It’s really sad that they don’t cast people of their own ethnicity to represent themself. A lot of South Asian actresses aren’t south Asian, they're from the north.

I know that there wasn't enough time to dive into this in detail, but it would have been interesting to hear more about other Indian standards of beauty like large dark eyes. Even today, there are a lot of praises sung about that 'kala kajal' lining dark eyes. Only recently have they begun to praise lighter eyes and that is in contrast to historical perceptions of lighter eyes. In "Sea of Poppies" which takes place in the 1830s, Ghosh refers to how a hazel-eyed woman is considered a 'witch' for her light eyes, which is in contrast to today. It would have also been worth mentioning the role that hair plays in SA beauty.

I think some things you missed were
    - height. very important in South Asian that you are tall, for males thats 5’10 and above, for females 5’5 and above.
    - eyes. South asians generally have much larger eyes, you can see it in quite a few of the paintings you showed. Lighter eye colour is also considered quite important even if the features of the individual are not that great.
    - cheeks. South Asians all tend to have rounded and noticeable cheekbones.
    Somethings I want to add
    - there is a clear difference in the way skin colour is defined between men and women. Men can have skin colour that is much darker and still be considered attractive as long as they have good features and a good physique.
Unlike other ethnicities our noses fit with our faces because all of our features tend to be bigger and more defined.

And you're completely wrong about "lighter eye colour" preference. Its extremely rare here to have green/blue/hazel eyes. Large "dark" eyes have stayed as a classic beauty standard throughout ages in india.

You should look into the Navratan (9 gems): 9 famous scholars who changed the course of history forever with their discoveries and talent. It's not bc of any influence from 'Aryans' or Greeks. And the whole Aryan theory is redundant in itself, a bs narrative made up by Britishers. Aryans were Indian not white. 'Aryan' means 'children of Surya (sun)' in Sanskrit, meaning they were tan. A vid on middle eastern or specifically Arabian beauty standards would be nice! When it comes to noses - I’ve noticed lots of people think of more down turned noses or even hooked noses as characteristic of middle easterners, but I actually haven’t noticed it to be significantly greater in middle easterners than in Europeans (maybe when it comes to a neutral nasal angle or a downturned one, it might be a little more common in Arabs than north Europeans? But Europe is pretty big, so I’m comparing mostly to the UK, where I haven’t noticed much of a difference tbh), and I’ve lived in both an Arabian country and the UK. I know that, for gulf Arabs at least, there is a flexibility in what nose shapes are considered beautiful, as long as it’s small and proportionate to the face. Shape isn’t as important, but both straight noses and upturned noses are admired. When it comes to Bedouin Arabs specifically, there’s a word for upturned sloped noses - something like ‘sword’ nose, and it is considered beautiful, but straight noses are also admired, and a neutral ‘nasal angle’(?) is preferred over a downturned nose, but it isn’t like specifically noted if it’s just a slight down turn. Upturned sloped noses wouldn’t be a beauty standard for Bedouin Arabs of all people if it wasn’t possible for Arabs to have it as a nose, and I have noticed a good number of people with it. When it comes to skin color, Arabs can get both very pale and very tan when the seasons change, especially gulf Arabs who are on average darker skinned than Levantine Arabs. When I went to the UK for a few months I came back to my country pale. You can see it with older photos of Arabs who had to work in the sun a lot and who look quite dark skinned and then modern pictures of office worker Arabs where they look much lighter. Funnily enough it was the darker skinned older generation who considered it more of a beauty standard to have fair skin, while now the lighter skinned teenagers and young adults admire the tanned look and consider it very cool and chic - though fair skin is still considered pretty. Finally, there are African and African descent Arabs who have dark skin, so that’s a whole different topic that I admittedly don’t know enough about! Umm, for bodies, ‘tall’ (5’4 -5’7) and ‘petite’ curvy is stylish, but very curvy is more of the standard and slightly tall with long legs is preferred. A /little/ weight isn’t a big deal if you’re curvy. There’s a soft spot for naturally curly hair, but manufactured curls and waves is most stylish in the younger generation while the straight dark hair is the timeless standard. Thick hair is a beauty standard. Lighter hair is admired. So are lighter eyes. Eyes are a big part of beauty. Full lips are the standard too, even very full lips are admired. Femininity is a big part of the beauty standard, but womanly femininity is preferred over girlish feminist in grown women. Strong jaws are admired. They don’t shy away from womanly beauty, but they do still appreciate neoteny and cuteness, but when it comes to most young adults and older adults western beauty standards are more familiar than say East Asian ones. Quite a lot of teenage girls though are now starting to gravitate towards East Asian type of beauty, with more girlish charm. Oh, eyebrows are also important, but as long as they fit your face it doesn’t really matter. They’ve gone through different fads, from thin brows to thick brows and from arched brows to straight ones, so a specific type doesn’t really matter. Unique beauty is appreciated as well, which is why lighter hair or eye color is accepted as beautiful even with older people and why a lot of body types are considered beautiful and also why tan skin was quick to become popular here. Oh, being stylish is also very very important. And dimples are considered a beauty standard - I think this one is mentioned a lot in my country because I’ve noticed lots of people with dimples in my Arabic country but I was the only one with dimples in the UK, even though it’s a bigger country and I’ve travelled around a lot I haven’t seen a single person with dimples! While in my small country I encounter people with dimples quite often, and it is considered a beauty standard. Wow I’ve rambled. I really just wanted to note that ski slope noses are a beauty standard with Bedouin Arabs (but straight is also pretty), and with the younger generation of Arabs as well.

I agree :) I'm from the north of yemen and my family is very typically arab looking in terms of skin colour, very olive/yellow toned tan. I have a ski-slope nose! it's straight, small, and slightly upturned at the end. It's very round though, very button-ish which annoys me a lot because I look like a child lmao. My mother calls it a 'fudsa' which I think means like a squished thing like a tomato :'). And yeah, I think hair is super important. thick healthy, smooth hair. Also having some weight on you is preferred, I'm always being told to eat more.

I'm a bedouin Arab and my entire family (clan) don't have a big hooked nose. Some are straight and most are ski slope nose (natural nose). It's so small that they can't breath. We have different shades from light to tan skin tone. But all of us have sharp curve. All my family members have curvy body, they are one of the curvest clan out there. They have a small bone structure with large breast, perky bum and small waist. The problem is that the butt never stops growing it becomes heavy. Most bedouin grow their hair long to their hips and most don't dye it until marriage or mid 20s. I rarely met a bedouin with large nose most foreigners think we have big nose even other Middle Easterns.

Hey, I am from India, I love your videos.
I wanna tell you about beauty standards in our regions.
Whenever my mom or my aunt sees a girl, they mostly talk about fair skin, not really whiter but normal fair skin, then straight bigger nose. Whenever she or any woman in our area sees a small plump nosed woman, from their perspective she's not beautiful. Then comes teeth, they prefer whiter, square shaped teeth. And lastly hairs, they say "How long, black, shiny and silky hair she has !" This was the test of beauty standards for woman here when people see for a bride.
In my childhood, I was given partial treatment in my school because I wasn't as fair as my friends, neighbours and school teachers.
But when I watched black woman, women with small and not straight nose, with short hairs as top models on internet I was surprised and happy.
