“It’s important to make things, to make things” I resonate with that. It’s what keeps us creative. Fun ideas here, thanks for sharing.
I love the result, and as is typical of NFC videos, they make me want to queue up a build just to explore the awesome ideas. For some reason, I thought your office space was a lot darker when you described it, so I was quite surprised to see how bright it is. Peace!
Yeah it was a dungeon, but that dungeon is occupied by all the S4T inventory. So I moved to the bedroom. Half of the space is bedroom, half is an office. It's REALLY small in person, but in the video it looks a lot bigger. It's perfect though now that it's organized and everything is in arms reach.
@@NotFromConcentrate what is your discord cuz I'm trying to join the server but the invite is invalid now
Love the design, looks clean and minimalist
Another ahhhhhmazing design, Josh!
Imagine rolling that into a LAN party ^_^
Dude, is time to let the long beard go! be strong, I believe in you!
organization wise, check out Gridfinity and the various mods
Love the setup Josh!
Standing only effect productivity, because you wold rather do heavy physical labor rather than standing.
You aren't wrong. When I sit I'm more likely to waste time but standing takes effort so it reminds me I should be doing something.
Dude you are one of the most hard working creators in the space, don't ever say you're lazy haha.
I love how the desk/room turned out, keep it up!
This video may be different, but I like the breakdown and thought process you had for this video. If you make more like this I'll keep watching them.
i looked around for something like this before and found that studio desks are basically full of rack-mounts, if anyone is looking for something similar.
Nice to see Erick is watching over you all the time
I sent that to him as a joke. I laughed when I saw it.
I been thinking about making a rack mountable desk for rack mount equipment. However I cannot type standing up so I need a sitting desk. Plan is a box frame on one side of the desk with a top draw to hold items (USB sticks, notepads, pencils, etc) and the lower section for rackmount components (My desktop PC is a 4U rackmount). On the other side of the desk will be a pair of boxed in legs (two columns with a top & bottom plates using 1"x6" wood). Keeping the one side open with just legs for the table top to provide a wide space for your legs when sitting. For the top I will use an oak plywood sheet cut using a tracksaw, & edged using oak edge banding. I finish off the top using Bona Traffic HD (hardwood flooring Finish) applied with a foam brush & top coat sprayed using a HVLP spray g(u)n.
For parts storage I build some Lista like cabinets out of wood. I use six casters with Rubber wheels (more weight distribution & rubber to avoid damaging floors). I made a lot of drawers using 1x4 wood & 1x6 wood with 1/4" plywood screwed to the bottom, and full extension ballbearing slides (side mounted). The drawers are about 36" wide. For the sides I use birch plywood & painted using BM Command paint. Command paint is the best paint for making cabinets. Its a water based urethane paint (no fumes) but as tough as pre-catalyzed lacquer paint.
For painting metal you got it right using the phosphoric acid for prep. Your probably the first channel i seen that uses the phosphoric acid for prep!
I use the klean strip prep & etch sold at Lowes. For painting metal I prefer to use Eastwood Direct to metal (DTM) Urethane 2K. Very durable & no primer needed. Has a automotive quality finish when applied using a HVLP spray (g)un. I recommend getting Eastwood fish eye eliminator. My process for painting metal is to use the phosphoric acid for prep, then wipe down using acetone until the paper towel has no visible dirt. If you parts arrive dirty (or coated in oil) I wipe down using acetone before applying the phosphoric acid.
I used Schaller corp plastic bins, can remove them from the drawer cabinet when you need the contents. You can buy all sorts of sized bins from Schaller. The issue I had with Tool roller cabinets (harbor freight, lowes, HD) is the draw sizes are not that create for bin storage, & draws are rather narrow (limiting the number of bins you can store.
While I have a lot of Akro-mills storage bins, I don't like them for heavier components like fasteners because of the thin plastic construction. I use the Akro-mill bins for electronic components: connectors, capacitors, etc. I also use the HF Portable Bin storage containers for really small fasteners. I like these a lot since you can pull out individual bins when your working with them, and move the as a set to a work area without worring about spilling them as you move them from your cabinet to your work area.
THANK YOU for the detailed comment with helpful tips for everyone! The KleanStrip (Lowes and HD) is a great low cost product, I have a lot in my shop for big projects. Check out the Prep and Ready if you have something specialized I think it works way better but it's also much more $$$. Thank you for the tips on painting, I am looking into the F.E.E. now that you turned me on. Again, great comment, thank you so much for all the insight and knowledge.
Whoa! Just discovered your channel and I'm in love with it! I feel like many of us nerdy types don't care about the asstetic but this is gorgeous!
Thank you and welcome. Please check out some of our recent videos to see if you like it here. This one is really different. xD
Love all your content so make what you want! I'll gladly sit through another non PC video!
Thanks so much for that. I was dreading publishing this because I don't want to disappoint you all, but I didn't know how to share the PC Desk part without the organization story.
The only thing where I'm jealous of Flexispot desks is the fact that they have designs where rolls can just attach. But, I have take a look at my desk and I have a couple of ideas on how I can make this possible with mine (it's really needed for me since I'm always bothered but I have a pretty big desk).
I also envy your racks. Gave me the idea to do a similar project. Wanted to mount my work laptop under my desk for a longer time now, since it's just taking up space here.
When I moved, I will tackle all these problems with my setup!
Sick, glad it gives you some ideas for your project!
Glad to see you healthy
Really cool, the real question is how long is it gonna stay this organized for 🙂
🤣
Where did you get those mini bins you put in the akro mils organizer bins for your bolts/hardware?
Ugh yes, I forgot to include the link. They are 3D printed. I did some but my friend Gabriele did like 40 of them for me. www.thingiverse.com/thing:2851931
this is SO BEAUTIFUL
This man skyslot's. Literally everything, even the cupboard!
What are the storage dividers inside the acro mills drawers? Are those first party? or printed?
They are printed, but a VERY high quality file. I put the link in the description. My friend Gabriele helped me print over 40 of them and they are fantastic. They print really well too just do a pressure advance calibration.
Awesome, thank you
Ironically i think more people are going to be spending money on the Ikea ROG sit stand desk then the flexispot. the flexi spot is way too expensive and aimed at business users more so then consumers.
Edit: I was completely wrong, check replies.
Maybe so! But in my market, the Flexispot is actually significantly cheaper than the Ikea desk. Like a 100 dollars less! :O
@@NotFromConcentrate hm... I thought the flexispot was 1k+ and the IKEA was 700, I will have to double check.
@@TheObsesedAnimeFreaks The E6 I used is like $299 on Amazon in my country and the Ikea is 480. But both have different models so maybe thats where we are getting confused. But I do love the 299 E6. Definitely FEELS like a $1K desk. :)
@@NotFromConcentrate yeah, I also have the larger 70" version of the IKEA desk, which is 850 USD right now, and apparently IKEA just released some cheaper models for about the same price as the flexispots. So yeah you are completely right, the flexi-spot is far cheaper than I thought. I probably was also going off old bad info from my research prior to getting my desk. Sit stand desks were expensive not to long ago.
Fantastic video
The modularity is awesome, man! Nice build.
Is it a hassle to reload the wire spools since theyre so hidden away?
Takes seconds! I really recommend it.
A joy to watch, brother. The new office looks great! So jealous!
This new workspace is awesome! Makes me wanna start a project right away. That white tool chest hits hard. Great work 💪🏽
Thank you for sharing the files and your video! Great to see you again in a video! Peace.
Wow, very cool!
Supah cleean.
I’m so very impressed!!!!
Now just turn the table 180 and you will have a normal desk? :) that's what most want right, not to limited the use of the desk? Or did I Speedrun the video too fast and missed something
Yeah I have a segment about that in the video--just turn it 180 and it's a normal desk with a super cool backside to impress your co-workers. :)
1:12 I did not want to google that...
Im sorta jeallous of that camera tool box shelf :P All I currently have is a box from ikea with some dessicant to keep humidity in check.
It's a dream come true. Like I said 12 years of putting stuff in Amazon Prime boxes. And you know how thin and flimsy those are! xD
This video was awesome!
NFC! NFC!❤
I need more skyslots in my life
700 of them? I think it's what the count was for this project. xD
Sit stand desk gang 👊🤘
haha xD
Thanks, I hate it.
