- Well, Jill is back...another one anyway...time to unbox a Jill doll in what is my first appearance on UA-cam! I was very nervous I have to say so forgive the rambling on haha. If you have any questions about anything in this video or any of my others please throw them in the comments and I'll reply when I can.

Great unboxing video. Jill seems to have survived her trip and her audio was beautiful the second time. Keep up the good work.

This doll was way ahead of her time - too ahead, in fact, to make for a substantial and long-lasting toy. Jill is a toy in name and marketing terms only, but for all intents and purposes, she is a robot, a prototype that inexplicably got marketed to reckless, young children. If she came out just a couple decades later, I can all but guarantee she'd be built with all the kid-tough materials we expect from modern animatronic toys, and at a fraction of the manufacturing cost!
This was a great video! I have a Jill related question though, and it’s not a technical one. As you mentioned, Playmates are still in business, so my question is - do you think there’s any chance of Playmates reviving the animatronic toy line, or maybe making new animatronics similar to the ones in the old line? I’m not that optimistic about it sadly, considering Jill was such a big failure and nearly bankrupted them, but I really think a new line of animated talking dolls could be a really cool and successful concept!

Unfortunately, in my opinion no, Playmates have been left behind now even though they were ahead of their time with Jill. The big names have dozens of animatronic toys now - Hasbro, Spin Master, Playskool and Tiger Electronics have been the main players since that time. Stay tuned as i have loads of animatronics in the collection from said companies I'll be showcasing at some point in the future, Cubby the curious bear, Kota the triceratops and Luvabella to name but a few!
I feel you, Jill. Seems like my belts are slipping and some things in my AI are drying out.

Awesome video! I just subscribed to your channel! I love old vintage toys like this. I really want a teddy Ruxpin. Do those have many faulty issues?
Thanks 😊 glad you enjoyed the video, and thanks for subscribing! Yeah Teddy Ruxpin is a great little chap, but yes like all these old animatronics they are getting to be almost 40 years old now and more often than not develop lots of age related issues, wear and tear etc. But most of the time, a lot of the issues can be rectified with the right parts and knowledge
@@Dr.Animatronic I saw a couple of new Teddy Ruxpin bears on eBay. Should I buy one, and then see if it plays or not? What advice do you have before buying one?
