Instead of complaining about simple things that are a little off why don’t y’all talk about her beautiful energy and appreciation for the sport? No wonder all of you are in a tizzy, you don’t have any positivity!
Hello everyone! I love everyones comments! absolutely Hilarious and endearing! I did these videos as a senior in a very tiny High school in the middle of basically nowhere. I had a color guard teacher for one year and after that it was basically up to me to keep it alive. I admit I basically had zero professional training. I made these videos so our small marching band could have some color when they marched our small town streets. I am in no way an expert in any universe. Color guard brought me a lot of joy in school and it was a lot of fun to hopefully help the continuing classes after I graduate feel confident enough to at least go out there and do something, even hold the flag ! This was created solely as a resource for students at Lake Placid.
i dont wanna be rude. but that is not a single toss. it's way to low. your hand is in the wrong place and u catch it wrong. also, when you are spinning, you are supposed to hold one hand in the flag so it doesn't roll in like yours. I don't know where u learned all of this but is suggest going away there...
Don't twist your wrist and you won't have the silk roll up either. Color guard isn't universal, there are toooooo many different ways to call and teach the same thing.
her technique isn’t the best. her free hands and her upper/lower body just looks not natural. i don’t know if she’s in a different country where technique is different but this is not all all correct where i do guard
My son is 4 and he has Autism. He just pulled a move with a bicycle flag that caught my attention. How he knew how to do this is beyond me. I thought I would look up maneuvers to identify what this move is called. He flipped it around, and he put it under his shoulder like in military fashion, holding the flag perfectly with just his arm pressed against his body. Pastlife memories? Who knows! Nonverbal.
iMeags ROBLOX yeah it's a bit on the shorter side. It's only a 5 ft pole. Normally for our performances we use a 6. I'm not sure what other schools use though.
Calum Palmer it could be that but maybe the flag is short?? I have only spun a 6 ft pole but a lot of the competition guards during competition use 5 ft pole usually because it's lighter and easier to get your tosses around. It could also be both maybe?? Either or usually because when the girls are a bit shorter it is just easier for them. Hopefully this helped in some way. :-)
Honestly, you guys need to chill in these comments. Some people only do this as an expression and as a hobby. She never said she was a professional, it is literally just for fun. It's comments like this that make people not want to express themselves.
That toss looking more like a wrist roll rather than an actual toss... Anyway, Imma share my favorite toss and it's very simple. It's called a flat 1) Flat, silk facing right side of body 2) Right hand over a dollar's bill length into the silk 3) Left hand under splitting cheater and thirds 4) Lift it up, silk should be in front of u facing directly in front of u with the left head behind ur head. This release point should be flat and not angled. 5) Release, catch at right flat (right hand under at tab left hand over at thirds) 6) This toss is kinda high. It should take 3 counts. Release on 1, smack ur thighs on 2, and catch 3. Side notes: When tossing u almost always pull or push down depending on ur hand placement with ur left and u push up with ur right for height. Want more rotation? Push/pull with ur left. Want more height? Push up with ur right
I love how some people are commenting crap like if you know so much about it then why are you watching videos like this? Also people are commenting about names of things, in different places or organizations ((high/middle school color guards, college color guards, professional development etc.)) They'll have different names. So what you may call a windmill would be called a back sweep to someone else. So stop hating and enjoy the fact that people actually take the time to make videos like this. Also to the few positive people commenting on this video thank you for staying positive :)
I'm watching these videos because I'm making a routine for a solo and also a class performace and I'm trying to expand my knowledge and get more moves. This video isnt the best and the moves just weren't executed properly/professional looking. I appreciate the time she took, but a little extra time to make the moves look better would've been better. No hate towards her though. Just constructive criticism.
@@taylorw4735 That's a valid reason as to why you would watch a video about it. I was just noticing that people were commenting over the fact that she wasn't calling them the proper name (which I explained in my first comment that different places have different names for the same moves) or doing them properly. She took the time to make the video so I feel like she should get more credit than they're giving her.
@@margaretstrader3826 Yea of course! I just wanted to let you know we all arent hating on her for no reason😊 Thanks for sharing your opinion in a good manner😄
@@taylorw4735 Yeah I know not everyone was doing that I just noticed a lot of people were and thought I'd say something. And I'd have no reason to be anything but well mannered.
Learned a lot from your videos, you seem so sweet and I like the way you teach the moves! I don't understand why people get so upset over the technique, in my opinion there is no right or wrong way. Like you said, it's all about expressing yourself and having fun :)
My color guard doesn't really use the techniques everyone is commenting on, yet we scored a two at pre-UIL. We got scored highest on technique. Color guard isn't as strict a ballet. As long as the moves match the music and flow well, I don't think it's a big deal. Some repetitive moves can hurt you or tire you out if you do them incorrectly. Like, if you have a lot of drop spins and you move your elbows a lot, your biceps will tire quickly!!! I think that as long as your moves are crisp and clean, and they flow well, your technique will be graded fine. Not everyone makes a big deal, but idk. Some color guard UIL judge may freak out if you don't do it the way they were taught.....
Chloe Phillips so what. just because your guard calls it that doesn't mean that everyone does. for example, from what ive seen, a pop toss could mean anything at this point.
1) that's not how u do a single 2)all of these this I learned in what u call basics 3)a single double and triple aren't even a excel move there basic 4) your supposed to do a toss from the silk it's called a money hand toss 5) I think I would know all this I have been in color guard seince I was 4/5 and can do a double turnaround and all 3 pieces of equipment 6)I love how your trying and all and idk if your from a different country or something but please work on your technique 🙂☺️😊
Kara Foster it’s supposed to be some sort of variation because of how she catches it. There are so many different ways to spin and toss! That’s what gives us the variation! I don’t think she labeled them correctly, but so what. That was a mistake. For someone who has been in guard for so long, you should understand the concept of a team and you do that by *supporting* the guard community.
There are 5” poles at 6” poles, but most schools use 6” poles. My school(George Ranch High School) uses 6” poles for performance and weal get 5” practice poles :)
Does she have weights in her flag every time she catches it sounds hollow Bc if u don’t have weights in ur flag u can’t do much Bc the wind will blow it but idk
If you are a beginner then you will most likely be using g a 6 ft. Pole and this is a smaller pole so i would ask your instructor witch length and if you do use a 6 ft. Then this is not correct.
I'm sure you have an actual answer by now but you generally have to buy them separately. I recommend the band shop, it's where I got my poles, rifles, and weights. They have silk but I do recommend that if you or your guard go to BOA nationals in Indiana, to buy a silk from there. There are tons of silks in like a bucket that you just pick through.
For the first toss..your bottom hand placement is wrong..your hand needs to be in the silk not on the pole..doesnt matter the size of the pole. I cringed watching the rest..
This seems like she was assigned the project of doing this video, but she didn't really want to do it so she just phoned it in. Also, is that a five foot pole? Ugh...weak. And the technique is terrible

When you toss a single aren’t u supposed to be in the silk??
yes
Yes
Yeah that’s really awkward and girl stay in your toaster
I’m pretty sure that’s a 5’ flag pole so yah but I’m not sure. I’ve only spun 6’
Andrew B I've spun a 5 ft and it's the same way

Guess leave her alone she is just teaching u of what she knows guys don't be so hard on her
I'm auditioning for a professional guard in like two weeks lol after I get adjusted I'm gonna make my own version of this video
i sugest not doing that, well doing it is a great idea. but non of these moves.... there not proffesional or even near correct

wym if it looks exactly like it's supposed to be, it looks fine
And where i do it we do drop spins on the tab
Did you make this up?...this is questionable

why did you do a single like that? that was the most awkward thing i have ever watched omg
Hannah Pomrenke her hand is too close to her silk
Hannah Pomrenke I swear that would probs brake my arm 😂
Is the flag tiny or is she just a giant?
iMeags ROBLOX it’s definitely a small pole
A regular Pole is a 6ft. She has like a 5ft. Or even 4 1/2 i think...

Don't do anything like this.....
Chelsey Keathley I know right that single is rong
Im teaching private lessons and one of my girls saw this video and tried to do it. I had to correct her alot.
don’t spread negativity. just because this isn’t hard work doesn’t mean it’s trash.
GUYS IT DOESNT MATTEE HER TECHNIQUE SHE WAS TAUGHT DIFFRENT JUST CHILL... now my meme
Her: does a Quinta pole hit
Her: you’ll get it in no time
Maybe that is how she was taught

I enjoyed this video and found it very helpful, thank you. I want to teach the around the world and windmill to my friends in color guard
The "ac toss" is a blue devil😑

If u don’t have a flag what can I use
Usually I just use a broom to practice the spins💀

Since y’all know everything can y’all make a slowed down video ? 😩
I learned all of this in basics..😕
she should keep her hands on the tab of the silk, it keeps the silk from wrapping around the pole. she should know that.
And why her drop spins like that
Thank you for the tutorial.
Good video!
That you called a windmill is actually called a back sweep...
So should I follow her techniques or not?
the answer from me is no
I personally like spintronix because her technique isn’t sloppy
One that was a bad toss two you should never toss at tab you toss at the silk hunny
Why that pole look so small
It is
There are 5” poles at 6” poles, but most schools use 6” poles. My school(George Ranch High School) uses 6” poles for performance and weal get 5” practice poles :)
The sadder part is that the people who have never done color guard at my audition were better then her "excelling"...
I thought went you catch a single you go to slam.
Madison Holloway not always but you can for some routines it's just easier. Hope this helps O:-)

Did you make this up because like basically all of these tosses are so bad and your single is wrong. So like yeah?
Right

Wow
i watched this video 16 times and didn’t learn one thing
Thx
There different names people. Stop complaining.
Wrong move. I know that because i'm a color guard in phillipines
People do it differently not all movements are the same
There are diffrent names for moves it just depends
Tiffani schutter IKR so many people are hating on her because she calls the moves diffrent things
Why y’all flags so small
