Awesome recap of an amazing event! Great job, Jason, putting this together! Matt did a great job being the frontman for interviews and walkarounds, as well! So good to see the AEV crew again. Sampson says thanks for the love! 😆
These events are the best--we are looking forward to the one in Virginia next month! Yes, Colorado weather is super unpredictable. I can't remember a year we didn't have some kind of crazy weather at this event :)
23'-24' Colorado ZR2 / Canyon AT4X guys would love Bison fenders added to the shop! Unfortunately we don't have the same instant aftermarket as Tacomas.
Why AEV parts are more expensive than all the other after market companies? Like the front bumper of the wrangler or Gladiator is twice the price of good and solid aftermarket bumpers like ARB, Evo, poison spyder etc. The dual spot lights cost a fortune however Baja design LP 6pro, 9pro are as good as the Aev one's. Last as long as the Aev one's. The spring and shocks comes pre-loaded so it intense to droop the rear of the 4wd vehicles. Tha hoof of the bumper is plastic, so it's not gonna protect the radiator, the fan, serpentine belts, rollers, pulleys etc. Where as the ARB, the Evo etc will do since they're made of steel. I do like the looks but it is too expensive. No offense intended I'm only sharing and asking my humble opinion. Please change the wrangler wheel design. It has been ages since AEV wrangler wheel design are the same. New ARB solis dual spotlight with spot and flood combo is one the best in the markets though it's not as expensive as the AEB 300 series. However same in quality, performance, attention to details, same materials used in manufacturing, Rigid also has one of the best lights, stedi too etc.. Falcon shocks with reservoir, ICON, Dobinsons, elka, Fox 2.5, kings, old man emu etc are all top tier shocks with thicker and bigger in diameter (reservior) with oem one's .
Tell me you don’t know much about AEV without telling me. For starters, the front bumpers on the JK, JL/JT have been crash-tested, because they were offered on factory orders. Find another aftermarket bumper manufacturer that had crash-tested their bumpers. EVO hasn’t. Poison Spyder hasn’t. Even ARB hasn’t. Also, that plastic hoop is underlaid by very thick steel, so it absolutely does offer the protection you are describing. Find another bumper aftermarket manufacturer that is hot-stamping their bumpers out of boron steel, which creates a lighter-weight bumper that is much stronger than plate steel. The Baja Designs lights are great, but they’re in the same price range as the AEV lights and perform similarly. I’ve seen them side by side in the darkest of night in the desert, so why complain about their price when the other options on the market that perform as well are all in the same ballpark? You not liking the wheel design is a personal thing. There are many, many more people that love their designs (and many of their designs have been crash tested, as well, thanks to their OEM partnerships). As for the suspension, AEV’s suspension is the best dual sport suspension in the world. Outer shock diameter does not matter as much as diameters of internal components. If you read even basic technical explanations of shocks, you’ll understand this. I have run AEV’s suspension on two Jeeps through very difficult terrain that most people that own 4x4s will never see because they have pavement princesses, and I’ve never once had an issue with drooping the rear when the terrain calls for it. Seems like you lack real-world experience with all of their products and are just looking at prices and pictures on the internet.
Honestly I shouldn't really give this troll account the time of day (I mean, who asks what engines are in a sport S wrangler in a UA-cam comment) but I would challenge you to find a company who makes a more complete, precision made package for a vehicle other than AEV. Wanna run your jeep over the Rubicon trail and then drive home comfortably at 80 mph, no problem.. Wanna circumnavigate Africa in your jeep (since you have posted on other Africa trips, figured you might know who Dan Grec is...) AEV has your back. When was the last time you found multiple OE vehicle manufactures using a third party part (bumper, skids, etc) on a factory vehicle? I know there isn't an EVO jeep out there that came directly from the manufacture.. ARB Chevys, oh yeah.. they don't exist. Just because something is more expensive than another doesn't make it "expensive", especially if the pedigree of the product justifies the costs. Do you think poison Spyder has ever crash tested any of their bumpers?.. Please go back to your parents basement and do some more research before you come out looking to cast shade on a brand that is better in every way over the companies you mentioned.

What a fun looking event-even with the summer storm! It’s nice the AEV equipment being used in the wild!
