- Reviewing the HERCULES Deep Cut Variable-Speed Band Saw: It's left a strong first impression on me. Time will tell its durability and longevity. Given the reliability of the BAUER portable band saw model for many users, I anticipate this one will be just as dependable.
Also a big fan of the HERCULES universal Portable Band Saw Benchtop Stand. There are a bunch of reviews already on UA-cam of that.
Thanks for the info on the bandsaw. Need a video on putting the hercules bandsaw and the bandsaw holder with paddle starter. 👍 also how to square up the blade.
Thank you. About to purchase one and was not sure if the extra $50 was worth it
I came after a post on The Den of Tools channel.
Gross
Got that excited, huh?😎

Would you still take this over the bauer? Looks like only difference is bauer is 1amp less, shorter chord, no led light and $60 less
For the price, the bauer is hard to beat, especially if you are not using it all the time!
Can you cut cast iron pipes?
Thanks!
Thanks for the review but you missed the most important upgrade ... the 11 amp motor.
That's true! although I didn't see much of a difference in watts from the two motors. Maybe I need to load it more.
My store had one for $70 after coupons open box. Might go get it
There are no brushes because it's a brushless motor.
You are very good at reviewing. Thank you sir.
Thank you! is there anything else you would like to have reviewed.
Thanks for the video. I have the Hercules stand and have my deep cut m18 fuel mounted in it. But would like to have the cordless m18 available for use anywhere. So thinking about getting this Hercules. Does this Hercules use the same size blades as the Milwaukee (both are deep cut)?
Yes, the deep cut m18 and this Hercules both use a 44-7/8 in. x 1/2 in blade. The compact Milwaukee version like I use in the video has a 35-3/8 in blade though.
Forget HF saw blades. Foot pedal is useful. Increased speed, well if you are a hobbist is it really worth it? I was waiting to kearn about the saw but now that I see it Im not sold on the upgrade from my bauer. The stand is a different thing. Its expensive for what its is but making one, for me at any rate, would be a pain. Finding "scrap" metal around here is a pain so I usually buy new depending on the project. I always have some left over, not always enough for a project but nothing goes to waste. Im old and grumpy and remember what stuff use to cost, ergo grumpy. Cheers all, happy new year.
Happy new year!
Thanks for showing the difference between the Hercules and the Bauer saws. I will be getting the Hercules.
I hope it works out well for you!
It is indeed a variable trigger. The trigger varies speed quite well I thought when I ran it today.
Do you have the cordless 20V or corded model?
@@BootlegBarry corded hercules
You're right, I just tried it again and can get a bit of variability but only like 2-3 speeds. Much lower resolution than the Milwaukee, but it could just be me.
I recently purchased a WEN portable bandsaw. I like the HF stand, but unsure if it will fit.
Nice review…isn’t that brushless ?
Thank you, I believe the cordless version is brushless and the corded is brushed.
@@BootlegBarry gotcha…. I think you are right 👍🍺😊!
Great review, I’m glad you had the Milwaukee to compare it to.
Thank you!
I am having issues with the bandsaw blade twisting when cutting pipe for instance. Can't get a square cut to save me! Well, it's square with the unit, but it does not cut the end of the pipe off, top to bottom, when trying to shorten a piece of pipe. Any Ideas anyone??
Solid review brother! I currently have the Bauer on a SWAG stand but was thinking of upgrading to the Hercules. Any noticeable difference with the speed with it being 11amp? My cordless Hercules is pretty solid so Im wondering bouth the corded version.
nice review , i just bought one , cant wait to try out
Thank you! I hope you enjoy the saw!
I didn’t get a blade with mine. Did your saw come with a blade?
Mine didn't come with any. I picked up some of the bi-metal blades they had here when I upgraded the saw.
@@BootlegBarry Thanks, I thought it was forgotten at the factory. Even the maroon horizontal band saw comes with one. I live over an hour away from the store. What’s a good blade you can buy anywhere?
I also assumed one would be included when I first got the Bauer. Do you live close to a Lowes? The LENOX bi-metal blades are solid.
@@BootlegBarry I’ve always heard good about them. Lowe’s is 1/2 hour away. May just look for some Milwaukee in town.
I just got this, corded, and the stand today. I couldnt cut 1" by 3/8 thick steel im forging. It got in slightly and instantly dulled both of the blades i bought at harbor freight. Ive never used a bandsaw before now, but I am seriously regretting the purchase right now and thinking about a refund for a chop saw.
Is your blade going the right direction?
I have had no problem with it's cutting ability. I've been cutting thick wall 3" well casing pipe with no problem. I am having difficulty getting the blade to stay straight up and down when making a long cut.
5:13 do you have a part # for the stand jig? Thanks
