The point system should be weighted…The main attributes of the guitar (frets, pickups, playability, weight, color) go to the Performer.

Hybrid II is phenomenal, in my opinion, it stacks up against any of the American releases (not custom shop) that fender has, I do recommend swapping the bridge saddles for Gotoh compensated ones, but everything else stock on it is fantastic

I cant justify paying the extra $500 for the Performer especially no belly cut, for me no belly cut is a game changer. I have both models. Same colors too! I found near MINT used versions of each and paid around $950 out the door for each. In my mind, both have little differences but both keepers. Both are advertised as having a satin finish neck. My Hybrid II definitely is a dull satin finish (look of bare wood) and slick as ice. Incredibly smooth. The Performer is smooth but definitely has a gloss finish layer of something on it. I smoothed mine out with some 1500 grit sandpaper. I'd say the finish of the fretboard, edges and frets is better on my Hybrid II. Both better than an American Professional I had a while back that looked like it was finished off with a wood rasp. I actually prefer the original vintage style tuners (non-locking) so installed those on my Hybrid II. I did pick out the correct X & Y guitars in the tone test. I wouldn't really say I prefer one over the other. If I play them both on a purely clean amp setting I think the Yosemite (Performer) is a bit sharper but still close. The Performer has the Fender Greasebucket system while the Hybrid II uses the more common capacitor (an actual Orange Drop BTW!) , no tone saver in my Hybrid. The Orange Drop cap on the Hybrid II is HUGE! Finally found the ID number on line after some searching and it is a 0.1uf 600V. Normally that would be associated with really muddy-ing up the sound compared to the more common today 0.047 and 0.022uf. I haven't really found that the case so I am guessing Fender Japan knows what they are doing and designed the cap, pot , pickup system to work well together. I have plenty of highs and no real loss when rolling off the volume. I think it was mentioned in Landon's other vid of the Hybrid II that the body cavity looked like it had shielding paint. Mine definitely does and has the typical grounding wire screwed into the body. The Performer , mine at least, is also shielded but not quite as thick a coating. Last thing, the neck/neck pocket fitment is surgically precise on the Hybrid II. It damn near snaps into place. Zero slop. Both the Hybrid II and Performer are much better in that area other Fenders I have had.

I bought the Honeyburst Fender Performer Telecaster last month....before the price went up.....again. I was going to buy it from Long & McQuaid, but ended buying from another local dealer for $1900 taxes in (brand new). I got a pretty good deal, so I'm quite happy. Love the way the neck feels and play. Also, for a reason or another...I find that the Yosemite pickups on mine almost sound like they are noiseless...I tried with a few different amps and there's no hum coming out....Glad I bought it.

Whenever I listed to a blind comparison I always assume the less expensive guitar is Y, and the more expensive guitar is X, and I get it right about 50% of the time. Statistically there is no possible way that could happen purely by chance.
Aesthetically, the Performer is beautiful and the Hybrid couldn't possibly be more plain. I get it, I'm shallow. For that type of money I deserve something that looks nice.

The MIJ sounded a little darker to me, but that could easily be rectified in many different ways. To me, the MIJ Tele (or Strat) is just more guitar for the money (or Strat).
