Every year like clockwork the Chargers get a huge surge of preseason hype. Every year like clockwork they fail to live up to the hype. It's as consistent and reliable as the tide coming in and out. It's a force of nature at this point. If you put all your money on the Chargers chargering for the past 10 years, you'd be retired by now.

Harbaugh and Herbert. For 86% percent of the teams that make the playoffs have top tier coach and quarterback. Broncos have 1 of the 2. Raiders have none. The chargers have both

Don’t fall for this ‘Harbaugh-Love’ just yet and please remember the Raiders have finished 2nd four times out of the last five seasons despite all their turmoil. The Raiders have gotten stronger each year and as you even mentioned, that late run last year that cost us a higher spot in the draft. That doesn’t happen by luck in the NFL, nor is it lucky to absolutely destroy the Chiefs in their backyard. 🏴☠️

I do appreciate that Rich is always optimistic for my Raiders. Not sure we got a 10 win QB on the team right now, but maybe the defense can build upon last year and carry the team.
8-9 last year with a worse team. 10 is in reach. Minshew isn’t winning MVP but to think he can’t game manage with that offensive talent and that defense is crazy. Look up his turnover percentage all time vs every other QB you might be shocked.

I just don't get it. Who came in second place in the AFC West last year? the raiders. Who's the last team to beat the Kansas City Chiefs ? the Raiders. Who improved the most in the off Season? adding Christian Wilkins to a defense that was already the best defense in the division. And adding Brock bowers and a legitimate professional offensive coordinator and a full year under antonio pearce. Seems like every year guys like you pick the chargers to do great? And they come in last because they're the chargers and every year, guys like you pick the raiders to stink and they come in second. I don't see any way. To be totally Honest im a huge Chargers fan since 2006 and you can't just give us a playoffs spot just because jim is our coach. Chargers need to show us they can win close games and play defense for once to know that we are legit. I love the hype but we have been constantly great since 2006 - 2010. The Chargers are the most likely, but I think the correct answer is none of them. The Broncos going with a rookie, and the Raiders with a journeyman backup QB. Rich always picks the Raiders in August, and how has that worked over the last few years.

I thin the Raiders can be a serious WC contender but... Minshew has to take care of the football. The Raiders have one of the best tight end groups in the NFL and the WR group is underrated. The biggest question mark in my opinion is the OLine and whether they will be able to mesh in time. JPJ and Kolton Miller both missed camp and that will put the rookie behind schedule big time.
Harbaugh is a great coach but people forget when he took over the 49ers and Michigan, the teams were loaded with talented. They were just missing a good coach. That’s why they had success year 1. This charger team has the least talent of the last 4 years
They’ve only really lost Keenan Allen. Mike Williams never played, ekeler was trash last year and was never really a good running back, more of a pass catching back. Their defense is stacked still. Lamar has been doing just fine in the afc without having any top name receivers. Herbert will be fine.

I believe the Raiders are gonna make a lot of noise this season that defense no one will want to face in any game situation. Their offense all depends on the quarterback if he is even average watch out for the Raiders, and they are a big threat to the Chiefs I think even more than the Chargers..
Nix looked good, but no better then AOC looked last year in preseason. Let him play against some starters and some real defensive play calling before acting like he's the steal of the draft.

How is this a comparison at all..? Zach had a short college career at BYU including the Covid year where they smacked down lesser opponents. Nix had a long and consistent college career. The Jets are where QB draft picks go to die. Salah was a 1st year defensive coach. Payton is an offensive (especially QB focused) coach. They aren't comparable at all.

Rich somehow forgot how long it took Jim to turn around the Michigan program and how he was almost fired before he finally turned it around.
It took him time to turn Stanford around as well. The first two seasons they had a losing record, the 3rd season they finally had a winning season and lost a bowl. It took the fourth season for them to dominate their schedule.
That first season with the 49ers was an outlier. The idea that any team Jim takes over would have a plus 7 just because it happened once in his career is just ridiculous.
I'm not saying it can't happen, but Rich is talking like it's a foregone conclusion that they'll be in the playoffs and have double digit wins and the only question is if one of the other two teams in the division would also be in.
