Trevor is such a good interviewer. Clearly she’s brilliant but nervous- and he’s able to bring out her expertise and guides her into showcasing it so smoothly.
True
True dat
I like this woman so much, so much!
Good Job Trevor, great the way you make comedy out of serious stuff and they still stay serious. We are doing some funny stuffs of our own, Please show some love?
Oh my gosh, thanks for pointing this out. I wouldn't have noticed the extreme change in her affect display if you hadn't mentioned it. They are both brilliant, aren't they!
Her type is what society needs. People that are doing serious things, but can laugh and be normal. Everyone is so uptight now, I suppose with good reason. Laughter is better than a few deep breaths
I love this statement in every way.
I like this lady, a lot.
The lady is likable, a lot.
This person dr
@@lorrainewhite8080 Have listened to a few too many non-sensical PhD people to not put too much into it in public discourses. I like her intelligent delivery with or without the tittle.
@Captain Hindsightbiased you say? Guilty as charged, honest humble intelligent interaction gets me every time.
In my unbiased opinion this was a good interview
lol!!!
U must be a socialist Venezuelan anti police radical... Ieftist then.
u like the show - biased. He actually messed up the interview by making a joke that put her off. Fun to watch though
Lol..
surely her students watching this are like: omg, we've never seen her laugh like that! she's always so serious..we're scared!, LoLoL!! but leave it to Trevor, he can make *anyone* laugh out loud.
😁😁😁😁
such a brilliant woman, reminds me of so many professors i've had! all business, we believe - unless we're lucky enough to see them in a spontaneous, 'real-world-person' moment like that. 😃😃
Her laugh is AMAZING! I adore her! And wow that was a fascinating interview
Really delightful laugh. I think I'm likelier to trust a researcher who laughs like that. Hmmmm is that a bias?
I agree. She is obviously bright and knowledgeable and able to convey a tricky subject matter in a non-threatening way. But her laugh is what endears me to her the most.
@@EdenCroft SHE IS NOT ONLY VERY BRIGHT BUT BEAUTIFUL!!!! A CHOCOLATE DELIGHT!
The laughter by Jennifer though, Is she blushing? Trevor is really a charma
I love that you interview authors. I've read so many new books because of your interviews. Thank you. Keep it up!
me too and I am not a reader.
He seems to be the only talk show host who’s always read the guests’ books. Big props to him!
Really interesting. (She also has the best smile.)
I agree.
What a lovely and informative Interview between two intelligent and sweet individuals.
Now that's a book worth reading. We all have biases. Every Superior court judge has been biased at some point. I think pretending not to be biased is the largest part of the problem.
I absolutely agree.
Most extremely intelligent people are very socially awkward. Her laugh made my day. She so nervous dont worry you did great
Am I really on UA-cam?So much love 😍 on this comment section
trevor is the reason i still love watching daily show. keep it up trevor!!
Same!
Great interview the laughter from both of them was real and hearty. . Love you Trevor 😘
Her laugh is golden, it's so contagious.
What a wonderfully good humored person!
Damnn, never seen a guest have so much fun on set like this lady! Trevor always making his guests have their time! I'm my unknowingly biased opinion, this was a very good segment!!
That looked like anxious stress-relief laughter to me. She seemed nervous. I hope she walked away from it without feeling too critical of herself. It’s a nerve wracking situation to be in, when trying to present complex content in sound bite chunks on a comedy show.
thank you Dr. Jennifer
Bias is real and with us
I remember this, if in a more general context, being an important part of my social psychology studies.
Interesting to see it applied.
She is just so beautiful 💖
Fatana Wells you're so right!
watching her laugh made me smile😊
Her laugh made me laugh! Great content.
Infectious laugh, l loved a lot just seeing her laugh.
"What ever you're thinking...NO!" I honestly think that's how it is..like talking to children "Stop it! Bad cop!"
He's such a nice interviewer and also, he always reads the book of his guests! I don't think it's a common thing to do and I find that awesome!
If you’re reading this, you’re gonna have an awesome day today ✊🏿
-Josh Otusanya
Superstition destroys accomplishment.
Lies!
Believe you me, that's the way I'd act around Trevor too.. ☺️☺️Much love from 🇿🇦
A very shy Professor! Very very nice person!
Trevor must read a lot of books!!!! Every guest who is on he reads... His dedication is amazing
She is absolutely adorable with this laugh 💚
How many books does Trevor read a week 🤨
Most of the books on show would probably be sent off season. Outside of Nancy MacLean's book, "Democracy in Chains", most of the books whose authors he's interviewed can be consumed in a day or two.
"U see the black person, NO!..." Lmfao 😂😂😂
LOL
I think this is the only comment section so far I have found where there is not even a single negative comment! !! Love you all so much!
bias is not bad, it's a survival instinct. when bias turns to bigotry, then there's a problem
It's good in most occurences when we have to think fast and be efficient, but it's better that we know we have them when we really take the time to think about a specific issue and make an important decision.
What a treat this was to watch. If this interview is any indication I imagine her book is great read.
I'd never heard of her prior to this, but I find her inspiring.
This was another fantastic interview with a brilliant guest.
Great interview! I love this conversation especially the part absorbing environmental clues to form a bias. This bias is something that people will say they don't harbor but it surfaces in their actions.
The doctor laughing at Trevor's joke is so relatable. He's hilarious and I would have done the same.
I am so grateful to you and your team, Trevor. What a painless way to get a bite of news and information that may not make the headlines. You've helped me find so many great books and stories.
Sorry I don't want to dimminish her important work but she's super adorable with her nerdy giggles and all. 🥰
I think she is smitten with Trevor
Lol, I thought the same thing. She thought he was FUN-NY!!!
I think I'm smitten with Dr Jennifer.
Who isn't?
"they can't tell the brothers apart". If I hadn't watch the entire video I would think this was the punchline to a racist joke.
Give it time the internet will make it so
Good job! You’re managing your bias already 👍🏿
Great interview, great guest, great topic... keep up the great work!
This is fascinating and important. Trevor is the most amazing interviewer and he wanted to show this brilliant woman in her truest representation. We, as a society, have rooted out the most egregious inequalities and now we have to do the more difficult work of fixing more nuanced bias. Important work for a better society. Thanks for posting this.
Her laughter is so sweet!
A very good topic. Thank you for this interview.
Enjoyed this interview! What a smart lady!
Very good interview, the Dr is super smart and Trevor remains always quite brilliant!
This interview made me want to read her book and it’s something I will never regret.
It also gave me faith in people, purely based on Eberhardt’s personality. She’s such a genuine person trying to help. We need more people like her in this world!
Wow, cognitive dissonance. The majority of the comments are about her smile or Trevor’s great interview skills. Not the actual subjects bias and how to eliminate innate biases.
They are just so charming and delightful that it does kind of overwhelm your senses. Trevor is smooth, but he feels genuine and she is so present and real and natural...it was all such an astonishing contrast to the canned crap you usually see on TV. Plus they are well, you know, black. And white people love to be able to say, "I like them, I really like them...so I am not biased, Hallelujah!"
Her losing it laughing was amazing.
he gives off such a warm caring aura... you can see how much pleasure he gets from making people laugh!
Brilliant interview...
Thanks. This was a great interview! I listened to it, arrived at my destination, and now I am late, sitting in my truck typing, thank you. 😌
Anyone who sees my picture and says black women are always late; careful cause your bias is showing.
We love you, Dr. Eberhardt! Beautiful work!
My favorite interview thus far.
Yours, without bias.
1:45 Hahaha she just keeps laughing! xD Nice.
It should be mandatory for police to practice meditation.
I have thought that too
She is really anxious to be on the show. I can relate to her a lot. I’m sorry for how she feels.
Joke right? Trust me this is a big step for her career and messages!
Wonderful interview.
I love this interview!
Awesome interview...
WOW I like you Jennifer L Eberhardt. I just purchased your book. Great information. Thanks Trevor
Best guest in years. Keep bringing it!
She lost it (on a humour level) with that first question from Trevor. She just had a hard time controlling herself hahaha. Trevor is really funny.
The very end alone is so worth the watch👍🏾🤣
She's so lovely
She really is! She’s so cute ☺️
Great interview and man, her smile and laugh is cute as hell
I need to read her book. Right now. This interview and woman are golden.
Going to read that book. :D
Short correctin: A biased AI doesn't reveal the programmers bias, but the bias of the people who's data the AI learned from.
How is the programmer prevented from biasing how the program analyses the data?
@@dontaylor7315 I dont know any programmer who´d intentionally make his AI biased. Its an algorythm that learns from humainly solved problems. So for example police officers are shown pictures of subjects and they have to decide wether or not they are guilty. These photos are processed by the algorithm and then the algorithms procession is evaluated from the police officers answers.
So the more pictures with solutions the algorithm "sees" the better it gets in self evaluating. But if those humain made evaluations were wrong the algorithm will be wrong too.
For example the police officers were biased against people of colour. The effect is an AI biased against people of colour.
As those data samples are often collected from people all over the internet (f.e. Googles racist bot.) those AIs dont represent the programmers.
Fun fact: You know recaptchas? Those also feed some google algorithms with data.
@Tim Tom I don't think you understand the idea of bias. It DOESN'T have to be intentional. Yes, the data is a source of bias but you can't completely rule out the programmer either. Someone without that bias or is at least aware of that bias would recognise the problem in the data. A person with the bias would see nothing wrong with the data.
@@hanskover I know next to nothing about recaptchas and it sounds like something I should look up, so thanks. I do know about the profiling research you describe.
My question didn't presuppose a scenario so unsubtle as a "programmer who'd intentionally make his AI biased." However I did presuppose that programmers are much like the rest of us in that they don't universally possess such deep self-knowledge that they'd always know whether they're biasing a program or not. Most of us aren't aware of what all our biases are - nor are we aware in every instance whether we're judging or acting, in part, on a bias. I don't know if there are safeguards within the nature of programs themselves that make them less susceptible to being inadvertently skewed by the programmer. That's what my question was aimed at.
@@JC_923 Thanks, you stated it more economically and succinctly than I did.
Great laugh, great insight!
I think the first step is for people to learn what their implicit biases are. There are tests available online, if people wish to take them. Once you know what they are, you can start breaking down WHY you have them, and possibly even dismantle them.
I love their interaction
This is great
"disquassed" ha!
Hit like if u love this show
Thid was so awesome!
Sounds like an interesting book and topic. I might buy the book.
I might also buy it.
here is the link, it’s 50% off right now for the hardback www.amazon.com/Biased-Uncovering-Hidden-Prejudice-Shapes/dp/0735224935
That was one contagious laugh
This is very interesting.
Her laughter goes very deep.
Bias stands on the shoulders on linguistic absolutism. It speaks volumes that persons of mixed ethnicity hardly ever get mentioned. It speaks volumes that statistics kept do not record mixed ethnicity. There is a statistical bias when someone 75% white and 25% African is counted as black when they commit a crime.
Smart and beautiful woman.
Good book I will get it
When it comes to AI it's the data which is biased and not the people who program the computers. Programmers just use the data available in the world to train these Artificial Intelligence systems.
there's no comedian like you trevor
Trevor I'm glad you brought up Airbnb. Please try to book with cash and when on the form asks which passport type Eritrean, you'll be surprised...then ask me
Thank you so much for sharing my brother your the coolest and I love your real deal show. I hate that scumbag that talked shit about you. Mad Respect
Trevor made her laugh brah 🤣
well, i liked that! goog Job!
Shucks!!! She's soo sweet!
😂😂"They can't tell the brothers apart."
I love her laugh
She's super goofy and I love it. Great book too
I think in our nature in our mind if we feel weaker or threatened around different races we act differently kinda like the elevator effect we get nervous and weird. Better example?
This conversation is so tricky. When reading Malcolm Gladwell's Blink, he mentioned a study about people being asked how they would react if they were in a dark alley and 2 white males or 2 black males appeared on the other end. I cannot remember exactly how it was administered. Even the blacks were astonished to find out they too would most likely turn back if they came across the blacks. Sadly I discovered that I would too. Question is, is there a legit basis? Could it be true that a select few have spoilt for the rest? I feel it is possible. Granted I live in Kenya and we are mostly black so race is not a huge deal but I have seen this in other ways.e.g there are places I would not stop to help someone with directions or dare pick my phone or show valuables and there some people who make me turn back or feel unsafe when I see them 😬
Legit yes, moral no.
@@theBear89451 sadly...
She's beautiful.
Don’t think the good doctor was nervous, Trevor is very sweet and seeks to charm the guests he adores.
I honestly didn't think that the overall population's connotation for the definition of 'bias', was synonymous with racism.
Racism is just the first context that jumps to mind
I love you trevor
