Pretty sure someone else in the comments already said this: 'Darko' is from the title of the film 'Donnie Darko', which is to do with stable timelines and shit like that. The full version of the quote behind the image of Doc Scratch is from the book 'House of Leaves': 'Who has never killed an hour? Not casually or without thought, but carefully: a premeditated murder of minutes. The violence comes from a combination of giving up, not caring, and a resignation that getting past it is all you can hope to accomplish. So you kill the hour. You do not work, you do not read, you do not daydream. If you sleep it is not because you need to sleep. And when at last it is over, there is no evidence: no weapon, no blood, and no body. The only clue might be the shadows beneath your eyes or a terribly thin line near the corner of your mouth indicating something has been suffered, that in the privacy of your life you have lost something and the loss is too empty to share.'. Hope this clarifies some stuff for you.
@Xennified Donnie Darko is about a boy that must come to terms with the fact that, to save the universe and his love, he must employ time travel in such a way that he is doomed, as he lives in what the Homestuck fanbase would call a Beta Timeline. Compare this to Aradia's role throughout the trolls' timeline, and what now seems to be the kids' role in their new, post-scratch alpha timeline and I think the similarities are rather stark.
for the first time in a few years I found a homestuck song that I have never heard before it just ominously showed up in the related videos with a spooky title and image
At least the quote is about House of Leaves, the title is about Donnie Darko. Donnie Darko is about stable time loops- any violation creates a doomed timeline, which can actually be integral to the preservation of the alpha timeline. The quote from HL probably refers to either Doc Scratch, an immortal, omniscient trickster who has connections to time, and apparently exists outside of it (typing conversations in seconds), or Dave and Rose moving through timeless space. Who knows how long it took?

SmileyTrashbag I don’t think that is, I think it is just an artistic choice. Although I do have a theory for this picture if you want to look real deep in it. You know how street lights block out the stars in a city? I think Doc’s head emits light and blocks out all else as result of this, this relates to the plot kind of because he is omniscient, enLIGHTened, or BRIGHT.
Rule 1: never use quirks in youtube comments. Its difficult to read sometimes and will make people angry. And the correct usage would have been "I was pretty much oblivious to it"
what are the words??? Here's the top and in the end they are born out of something much more akin to a voice, WHICH THOUGH INVISIBLE TO the eye and frequently unheard by even the ear still continues,
I could take both slenderman and doc scratch... >.> but only if I was drunk and they turned out to be my friends in costume.... and they were drunk... well more drunk than me... ok... maybe I could take on an imp... but only if it was drunk
Actuelly this has nothing to do with slenderman at all. It's not even Doc scratchs theme, it's Trace and Fin's, there past and future trail powers were inspired by Donnie Darko.

Its the felt manor, not doc scratch.
+zasetsu57 What are you talking about? That's very clearly Doc Scratch.
this has to be the oldest post that i still get activity on
+XsNiPeRPi3z More specifically: It's from Appendix B "Bits"
Extravagant Sobriquet
i still haven't read it yet (the book)

I have Lygophobia, which is a fear of the darkness. And seeing the title of this song, and listening to it, sort of speaks to me.
I do too. °^°
for the first time in a few years I found a homestuck song that I have never heard before
it just ominously showed up in the related videos with a spooky title and image
Hehe this song is so different from anything else so it's weird
Vol 8 and 9 are my favourites because they have some really unique and interesting songs
Darko yet Darko
stop
darkoest
The Darko keeps on growing, shakows cutting deepo
why would you be listening to this when you can listen to the stuckhome syndrome version
Darko, darkor yer darkor
shodows cutting dapper
the darkoness keeps growing,
photon rodings nogotive
whot do yoo too thonk?
Can anybody else totally see this as the opening theme to a TV show? It just sorta has that feel to it.
It's so strange rediscovering this cool soundtracks. Not all of them stand the test of time, but this one is special.

He doesn't need it, he is already the best host there is, a ring won't change that.
Plus the ring only works on carapracians.
@KaguyaHimex He sees when you are sleeping. He knows when you're awake. He has no understanding of bad or good and neither does the Rake.
Listening to this song again for the first time in years and just realized the guitar from Feel (Alive) is from here
same composer I believe
I'm pretty sure its a pun on the name of the movie "Donnie Darko" which is based around the world ending and time travel.
the words on the art are from a quote from house of leaves, just look up "who has never killed an hour?" and you will find it
Anyone else notice the faint black aura around Scratches head?
Doc is infact HorrorTerror/Grimdark?

sounds like beginning of something excellent backwards.
I believe "darko" is just dark with Doc Scratch's "o" on the end of it.
Slenderman is Doc Scratch's tormented ghost going through the motions of collecting errant scrapbook pages
What people are not pointing out is that maybe Doc Scratch and Slendy are ectobiological siblings...
Rule 1: never use quirks in youtube comments. Its difficult to read sometimes and will make people angry.
And the correct usage would have been "I was pretty much oblivious to it"
I wonder if this song sounds different in reverse?
makes me think the title is a stand name a jobro would call out: Afraid of da darko!
Dude, and no problem
I always remember the lil details.
darker, darkest, darko.
@Xennified This sounds something like Donnie Darko soundtrack music in a way. Im just happy Im not the only one who Knows what Donnie darko is. ouo
I thought of Donny Darko :/
I mean homestuck and donny darko are both time related mind fucks
+Ryan Gunnison Ayyy
what are the words??? Here's the top
and in the end they are born out of something much more akin to a voice, WHICH THOUGH INVISIBLE TO the eye and frequently unheard by even the ear still continues,
bro 11 years has past
we want a life update
Look up Variations Reversed from the Felt album... the first 40 seconds are this song
@KaguyaHimex Tall, skinny, suit wearing and faceless? DEAR GOD ITS THE SAME GUY HOLY SHIT D:
Two members of the Felt were inspired by it.
SPOILERS SPOILERS caliborn ( undying umbrage) is more likely a young lord english. just check [s] caliborn: enter. and you'll see.
Hussie actually got some ideas from watching Donnie Darko, like the time trails in the Midnight Crew Intermission.
Did he say that
@TakenInStride Whoa, they do.
... mind=blown
Guys, it's about House of Leaves.
Why don't we just keep our fandoms in their respectable piles and not argue over what sucks and what doesn't
that'd be really nice...
ARE YOU AFRAID OF THE DARK?
Dave Darko
the PERCUSSION
Holy crap, that's a /really/ good profile pic! Did you make that, it doesn't look like a canon character.
Was it not Catwoman 10 years ago?
@@gigantomastiaCuddler i remember it being catwoman back then
f0r a sec0nd i th0ught it said drak0
It's on the tip of my tongue.
It's the tentacles.
They did but I think it's both the tentacles and the suit.
Variations
I got a doc scratch vibe...
@KaguyaHimex I thought the exact same thing.
@hex37 some one shod make a video of that i feel like it would sound something signifigant
the part starting at 0:41 reminds me of the intro of Metallica - Damage inc.
Maybe Slenderman and Doc Scratch are related? ... I'd hate to be at THAT family reunion.
This sounds like another song backwards. Can someone reverse-listen to it and see what it is?
this lowkey sounds like the true lab.... just saying
Just realize this is a remix of... some song from The Felt.
Fin and Trace
Correct, you were saying a 'fact' was oblivious to you, yet it wasnt a sentient object.
woah someone doesn't like slenderman
I think they look alike. it's my opinion.
I swear doc and slenderman are related. they look alike and they are both omnipotent creatures
He's dead and alive and boy that movie was a mind fuck
-afraid of donnie darko-
I wasnt implying that you had seen the movie. And thats not the correct use of oblivious :l
I don't know why but I'm getting a huge slenderman vibe from the art for some reason e_e
oh.....wEll i havEn,t sEEn thE MOVIE so that was prEtty much OBLVIOUS to mE.....
Slenderman+Doc Scratch=why
oops.....thEn how would i word IT???: "i was unawaE of thE moviEs EXistEncE"

DAJKDJASKdaghj gfsh ddddddddddd
I could take both slenderman and doc scratch... >.> but only if I was drunk and they turned out to be my friends in costume.... and they were drunk... well more drunk than me... ok... maybe I could take on an imp... but only if it was drunk
ew don't lump Doc scratch and Slendercrap
Actuelly this has nothing to do with slenderman at all. It's not even Doc scratchs theme, it's Trace and Fin's, there past and future trail powers were inspired by Donnie Darko.
what was the other way implying? the said subject was oblivious to me, as in "it" did not know of "my" existence?
