I failed my test today because I used the middle lane to turn right third exit in Apex corner. My instructor always told me to use the middle as it is easier to come off
I teach to use the right lane on that one. (When following signs for Brent Cross ) But the middle one is fine too. Was it something you did as you went round? The middle lane just means you’ll be on the left lane but it’s more confusing when you’re approaching the first traffic lights.
@@ZONDOdriving no I was near the end of test aswell. I used the middle lane safely and stayed in it until I came off. There was no cars to my right and the examiner still said ‘ he would’ve had to brake if there was any cars on my right’
In Germany it should be the other way around. So for left 3rd exit it should be Left signal to get on and right to get off. The advantage would be that people waiting to get on can see where you’re going and can then decide whether or not to wait for you. But I’m not sure if that’s how they do it.
Very helpful video, thank you. If someone comes through a roundabout and they’re indicating right but fail to indicate they’re going left when they reach their intended exit should I not move and assume they’re doing a u-turn? My son is doing his test this week and I was driving with him and this happened. Was I correct in telling my son not to move until this individual gave an indication where he was going? Thanks.
It will depend on the situation but most of the time it's best to base your decision on the signals from the other cars. In other words, you have to believe the signal of the other vehicle.
Thank you for the video. I find the setting of the indicator to the right when you want to take the third exit interesting. I don't have this concept in Germany. In our country, of course, the traffic is on the other side of the road, so it's the left indicator in our country. The rest fits so far. If I come to the UK and don't turn right when I take the third exit because I forget, what penalty can I expect?
My husband made me confused with signalling in mini roundabouts that day i had to go to the second exit nd he said u have to signal right first then left when u approaching the exit but the instructor in the mock test told me no u shouldn't signal right off
I'm on here because I thought I'd missed a rule change. There's a growing trend of motorists who signal right to go straight on at an island and then indicate left to exit. The latter part is correct.... but the former is misleading and dangerous.
Calmly and clearly explained thank you
Thank you Sarah. Much appreciated. 👍🏾
Thank you so much for this video,i struggle with roundabout but this video has helped me understand.
Thank you a bunch for this video, it has been really helpful in preparing for my motorbike test .

@@albbzshkoder7382 I’m not sure exactly what happened but sounds like lane discipline. What was the serious fault marked as?
@@ZONDOdriving it says - Junctions Turning right. He said in Apex corner you must use the right lane to go third exit.

Thank you 🤩
Great video Mark, what car would you recommend buying when you pass your test?
Thanks Abdi. You can’t go wrong with a polo. Or for a bit more cash, Ford Fiesta Ecoboost 😁
@@ZONDOdriving thank you Mark 😊

Very good video I've learnt spo much thank you
Glad to help. Are you doing driving lessons at the moment?
@@ZONDOdriving yesss I passed today in Hendon thanks to your videos!
Thanks a lot for the illustrative explanations. Next time, if possible, kindly graphically indicate the exits as you pass them.
Ok next time
In germany we only use the (right) indicator if we leave a roundabout. I can't see the advantage of using it before.

@ Great, thank you. He took exit before us but didn’t indicate he was doing so, so I guess I was correct in telling my son to wait
Do you have a video ok Spiral roundabouts in hendon?

You won’t get a penalty but you may confuse other road users who might not know where you’re going.
So do I! I did this today during my driving lesson but was never sure if it was the right thing to do.
My husband made me confused with signalling in mini roundabouts that day i had to go to the second exit nd he said u have to signal right first then left when u approaching the exit but the instructor in the mock test told me no u shouldn't signal right off
You don’t signal left to come off mini roundabouts
@@ZONDOdriving why though?
People forget they goto give way to the right or the all alive from all direction at the same time

Thank you so much
You're most welcome
What about 5 exit roundabouts
it would be the same as 4 except you'll signal left as you're going past the 4th exit.
@ZONDOdriving but if you're taking the 4th exit, do you indicate like you would when taking the 5th exit, or would you not indicate.
@@wilddestroyer8927 you’d indicate right on the approach, then signal left as you approach your exit.

Rules are still the same, it just that a lot of people don't know or can't be bothered to signal correctly at roundabouts.
@@ZONDOdriving They just make it up as they go along. I wish it was something we could change before someone gets hurt.
