Some comments on here are incredibly cruel about Davina. She's been through a lot in her life and worked hard to get where she is today. So glad she spoke of her addiction and was strong enough to defeat her drug habbit. Should be an inspiration to many!
Alcohol is the biggest fastest selling most destructive drug on the planet... yet it's sold on every street corner shop, bar and supermarket legally, usually responsible for every broken home, beaten child and ruined marriage... I think I'm gonna roll a join and think about that for a moment...
there was another sparkling diaologue on addiction that Craig Ferguson did, about his personal battles with alcohol, and how he says that addiction is not 'cured' in a month long program, he speaks very openly on how it is a lifelong problem that he has to face now...it is amazing how well he delivers it.
So many people commenting here show an amazing total incapability of listening to and understanding a single word of what she says. But Davina is an incredibly intelligent woman with so much integrity, what she has made of her life and how she can educate about things which really matter - healthcare, taking responsibility for oneself - is invaluable. ❤
Love Davina in every sense of the word, when she presented A and E Live (actually a long standing patient of that hospital trust as such for a relatively rare disorder) and really grown now to love her to bits, she's amazing truly in every sense of the word! That NHS Trusts amazing literally never (the staff on the floor as such) never had anything against them they work incredibly well compared to what those amazing people are up against and yeah I appreciate what she does and yeah fully listen to her, can't tell how much I love this amazing lady!
A terrific presenter and an all-round decent human being. This story here is relatable for anyone who's been in that experience and it's certainly shocking 🤯 when people get into it. Thanks for the honesty Miss McCall ❤ 😊
Though I've never taken illegal drugs, I'd like to see authorities prioritise them in a more rational way. A BBC Horizon episode has ranked 20 substances (including alcohol and nicotine) according to how addictive and damaging they are. You may be surprised at how high alcohol nicotine are ranked and which illegal things are judged less damaging and less addictive than those two.
It's funny how I didn't start on weed until after I tried heroin I was other way around did little cocaine then went on weed and crack back and forth thank god I haven't touched anything for years
that comment about smoking stuff and never doing it again, i did it three times whilst at college and never did again, just didnt need it, but i get how you can become addicted to things,
Davina beautiful brave complex honest and loving an amazing girl. I need to find one like this and marry her and love her until my last breath. Fingers crossed i find it
@KevL75 I can see that point of view and Britain is a unitary state, my point however was just that the official legal name of the country is 'United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Island' and the official nationality is British. Whether the individual wants to be referred to as British or otherwise is up to them, but officially they would be a Briton.
@Fantezism do you think people say "I want to be a drug addict?". The simple 'just say no' is such an ignorant policy and wish. As she said "You don't know if you're an addict or not"! What's good for you, isn't always for others. It's just not as simple as 'nobody really needs drugs'.
I'm an ex heroin addict.5years clean.Just goes 2 show that what i've always said is true, the stereo typical view of a heroin addict is not accurate & what Davina says is sooo true. You are always an addict wether your 2weeks clean,2years clean or 20 years clean. The phrase ex addict for me is to assure ppl I tell its in my past but i'm always very honest. The same can be said with Davina. How incredibly brave she is to discuss it&to fear 4 others doing the same.
@attackofthehatta Scotland is in Britain, so if someone comes from Scotland then they come from Britain. So that is maybe why you would call a Scot a Brit.
How come that the day after using both of these drugs, I had absolutely no interest in them? Plus, you make it sound like it makes you hooked on the first sip/smoke. The only real way for people to get addicted to these things is when they aren't mentally well. The only time I felt I _needed_ some sort of high was when I felt really bad, and at most other times I was quite uninterested in them. Mental problems + some sort of escape(video games, drugs, etc) = most times a no-no.
What about healthy individuals, both mentally and physically, using minimally addictive drugs such as alcohol or cannabis? It's all about being taught the right things at the right age. I mean fuck, starting using drugs at 12-13? When I was younger, I was taught how unhealthy tobacco was, and so I never even touched it until I was 18. (but don't smoke today, since I was old enough to control addiction)
Yes.....but you could say the same about alcohol as a gateway drug!? Legalising makes the drug more pure for starters! And the kids won't have to hide when using it with other kids who are either dealing or using harder 'mixed' drugs!! Legalising WILL change use!!! For the BETTER! Take the crime away from use and it is more easily policed! 👍🏻
Pot is not an entry drug, even without it people have entry by other means, drink, fags or legal. I did acid, coke and LSD before pot, all of which I did only once of each, there are more, but I know the first time is always free so I tried them and didn't go back. The point I am attempting to make is, if anyone keeps it up, it is their personality not the drug, they are the problem. I grew up with drugs of every sort all around, 24-7 and never did any of them twice. Didn't want to pay for it?
Drugs can save lives, too. Just getting that out there. "Drugs" is a horribly silly word to use since it implies all drugs have the same effect. At least shouldn't cannabis or soft sleeping medicine be grouped with heroin or cocaine, or hell, even alcohol.
Still doesn't stop me from not knowing who she is. lol Maybe because I'm not a brit would be the main answer unless she's been in a movie I've seen which I doubt.
@Danikhali doesn't matter if Scotland is in Britain, Logical thinking dictates that Because they come from Scotland it should be shortened to where they come from. So Scotland Becomes Scot. If England wasn't so hard to shorten for clear understanding Britain has to be shortened. Because Americans were known as Yankee's in the Civil war we are Yanks. In the end it doesn't matter, these are just nick names for everyone to know who you're talking about.
Why would I call a Scot a Brit? They don't come from Britain. I call people from england Brits and call people from Scotland Scots. Americans can be called yanks because that was part of our history. There are all sorts of shorter terms for everyone so it is really nothing to get worked up over.
lol Yeah, it's funny when cultural differences happen with different celebs. One person I wish the USA could get rid of is Paris Hilton. lol Who would you like to leave your country? lol
An irritating, face pulling desperado who's style of interviewing is to interrupt at any given opportunity. She spoils BB and will be out of a job soon. Hurrah!!!!!
Cannabis is not a gateway drug per say. It’s the illegality of drugs that make cannabis a gateway drug. Why? Cause you take a puff and realise that you’d been lied to about drugs. That you realise that cannabis is actually quite a lot of fun, so then it begs the question; what are all the other illegal drugs like?
I can't wait until next year when Big Brother goes off the air and Davina does an interview for her new book, in which she'll outline the truth behind Celebrity Big Brother 2007. i.e. Shilpa paid off tv execs and the show was rigged for her to win. How Jermaine, Dirk and Ian were paid to go in and help her, and how they framed Jade Goody, Jo O'Meara & Dani Lloyd for racist bullying that never happened but was artificially created to make Shilpa Shetty world famous! It's going to be a great book!
if cannabis was legalised- kids would see that that heroin was still illegal & should see a difference- i hate that shit arguement for keeping canabis illegal
if NA works for you then fair enuff... personally i hate all that NA shite that she was saying... its always the same kind of... pitch, if you like... the same way in a window salesman will always say the same stuff (what u want to hear) everytime.
i love davina her honesty is so admirable here, so down to earth i have so much time for her
Some comments on here are incredibly cruel about Davina. She's been through a lot in her life and worked hard to get where she is today. So glad she spoke of her addiction and was strong enough to defeat her drug habbit. Should be an inspiration to many!
Welcome to the internet ...ignore cruel comments.
She's so beautiful and courageous. Inspiring.
you're right, i met her the other day, and we chatted about her addiction, she's just as amazing in person than on tele :) x

What an amazingly intelligent and perceptive comment. I can pay you no higher tribute than suggest you take your own excellent advice.
an addiction, by definition, is a serious and destructive thing, whether it be "drugs" or food or whatever else
what an amazingly intelligent and perceptive comment. I can pay you no higher tribute than suggest you take your own excellent advice,

People are wicked to be cruel to a person that was honest about her life on TV.

Davina McCall, 1985
While still married to Boyd, Clapton dated television presenter Davina McCall briefly in 1985.
Wow didn't know that
God bless you Davina!
Davina u seem to be a nice person, have read your article on themail i was shocked to hear you still haven't forgiven your mothers wrong doing.
@KevL75 'Believe it or not' Britain is a country, and the nationality of a Scot is British.
Anyone notice she quoted South park with drugs are bad
@Fantezism do you think people say "I want to be a drug addict?". The simple 'just say no' is such an ignorant policy and wish. As she said "You don't know if you're an addict or not"! What's good for you, isn't always for others. It's just not as simple as 'nobody really needs drugs'.
Exactly. But healthy individuals should be allowed to use insignificantly damaging drugs such as cannabis without being unnecessarily made a criminal.
davina on heroin i think thats the most shocking thing i will hear all year...fair play 2 her 4 kicking the habit
Has she the best smile and mouth on the planet? Top face top model.
On air she was chummy and friendly. When the cameras went off, she'd ignore you.
by the way
not only is Davina beautiful and vibrant
she is an inspiration x
My name is Davina that’s why I searched this
she's more attractive when she's being interviewed
isnt heroine (from the poppy plant) also a plant?
You mean heroin
Love Davina ❤

well shes just saying.....someone who is stupid enough to try drugs may watch this and take notice in what shes saying.
She came to my school for something called wrap splat
yeah...that's not true, actually, speaking from experience.
You're not liberal or open minded if you think there should be stronger laws around weed.
Cocaine addicts are so funny "you've never done coke!? Hm... i think i have some in my purse, let me check... no i don't, can you call your dealer?"
She looked so good in this interview, she's too thin now
Yes.....but you could say the same about alcohol as a gateway drug!? Legalising makes the drug more pure for starters! she talks so much, it hurts my ears, but she is amazing
@libertineoverdose88 i know man i never knew about it

seems pretty smart too =P
Davina is HOT
@Mihaela Not now but when she was younger god yes!
Drugs can save lives, too.

well said.
Very sad.

Beautiful here ❤
Why would I call a Scot a Brit? They don't come from Britain.
I call people from england Brits and call people from Scotland Scots.
Americans can be called yanks because that was part of our history.
There are all sorts of shorter terms for everyone so it is really nothing to get worked up over.
Hatta time Scotland is part of Britain so they can be referred to as Brits as a collective
i sincerely hope your geography skills improved over the past 12 years
lol Yeah, it's funny when cultural differences happen with different celebs.
One person I wish the USA could get rid of is Paris Hilton. lol
Who would you like to leave your country? lol
why do they all talk posh when they are on the old farts show? hes a freak. lol. but i like the celebs he has on
Why is he a freak?
I agree sweety - Davina had her pipe, smoked it and now she's changed her mind. Moderate use of most highs is good to keep things in perspective.
umm, yeah i love davina HATE parky with avengance so yeah :) and no i won't go die, you!
@glenn20081965 oh grow up.
I have no idea who this woman is. lol
She really should have been wearing a bikini.
Self publicizing trout
Why do you think I care about your weird little opinion
It depends on the life . Her is perfect to Do anything they say. Real sad.
Now she's addicted to exercise. She looks very thin and frail these days. Not the Davina we remember.
She looks great for her age and fit. Nowadays if you aren't overweight verging on obese people think you are ill.
An irritating, face pulling desperado who's style of interviewing is to interrupt at any given opportunity. She spoils BB and will be out of a job soon. Hurrah!!!!!
shes lying...i dont know about what but shes lying
She is a finger puppet.
classy woman, NOT
Fuck you
INSUFFERABLE COW.
What a dog!! So annoying on tele 2
And you are perfect are you?
