What are Declared Distances? | Understanding TORA, TODA, ASDA and LDA.

- Hi. In this video we look at what are the different declared distances for a runway. In this video we look at different terms that are involved such as clearway, stopway and displaced threshold. Using these concepts we look at how the declared distances vary with the presence (or absense) of these.
These distances such as TORA, TODA, ASDA and LDA are used for takeoff and landing performance calculations of an aircraft.
Hope the video is useful. Thank you!

the ASDA can use display threshold and stopway right ?that is if there is a display threshold as well as a stopway
Yes, ASDA can include both a displaced threshold and a stopway.

Welcome!!
3:22 full diagram 👍
This is a good helpful quick guide however I think I can point out one area of this video that's confusing.
You show the displaced threshold with the "Chevron markings" and not the displaced threshold arrow markings. These are very different meanings since the Chevron area CANNOT be used or considered part of the runway that's usable by an airplane on takeoff or landing. .
wow that is really good information. Thank you!
I was also thinking the same, the stopway is what's supposed to be marked by the large yellow chevrons and not the displaced threshold.
Verry nice for me
