I used to be a vet tech, and we did all the medical for a local Sphinx cattery. Easily my favorite patients to see… like snuggly little bags of warm velvet. ❤
Some cats know what it means and obey it, believe it or not. My boy Owl would obey "stay" and "come" commands. He was really affectionate, too. Even walked on a leash and harness. I called him my little dogcat.
My ex gf's cat, a small but extremely smart calico named Daisy, knows a lot of commands. For example, "hungry" is the signal for dinnertime and she goes to the food bowl right away. When you say " Daisy jump", she immediately jumps to the top of her cat tree. When you say "Daisy NO" in a stern voice, she stops whatever naughty thing she has been doing and runs to her room. And she is the only cat I've ever seen that adores having baths - as soon as she hears the drawer where the pet shampoo is kept being opened, she makes a happy chirping noise and runs to the bathroom immediately. My ex gf and I used to joke she was half dog :)
One of my cat knows a bit. Decides whether she feels like it. The other cat understands and does exactly what she pleases. I don’t do many commands, like small children I offer two choices. Like small children they like to feel in control.
If you’re interested in a tip for clipping kitty nails, I have good luck holding them in my lap with them sitting paws forward. You can control the non-clipped legs with your legs (gently, obviously!). Plus, you get to snuggle with the kitty whilst clipping the nails, so that’s nice. ❤ Love your videos, Vanessa, and am always happy to see the different colours from your manicures.
I'm still trying find a way for one of mine. She doesn't liked to be held or picked up and she hates having her paws touched. I've tried to desensitize her over the past 3 years - no luck. She completely freaks out. I'm by myself, and haven't been able to do,it alone. All my other cats were fine.
@@thinkingaboutcicadas I have one from a cattery - and he's really good with commands and generally voice input. My two rescues ignore me diligently most of the time. :-D
Oh, my cat knows *exactly* what I'm saying to him. He just doesn't care. 😅 Cats, in my experience, understand human speech just as well as any dog. The difference is that cats don't care what you think of them, aren't particularly motivated by praise, and thus cannot be bothered to do as they're told.
Lots of dirt, oil, grime gets dispersed into a cat's fur. Hairless ones get noticeably oily & dirty after a week or two. I've heard of sphinx cats rubbing against fabric furniture & walls, leaving oily marks. Some get blackheads. Cannot neglect bathing hairless kitties!
One unfortunate thing is that ppl want a cat that won't trigger their cat allergy, or is low maintenance - they assume hairless cat is the solution- but allergens are in the skin oils too, not just the fur. Sadly can lead to re homing. Such funny creatures..
It's probably not good for the grooming setup or the camera, but in my experience it's easier to trim nails if you have a cat on your lap. 😊 Hug them with their back to your belly and do one foot at a time. They can't back away, it doesn't twist their paws into a weird position, and you can distract them with head smooches or scritches or just generally have a better hold on them if they get annoyed.
I tend to do that to but I have to turn my girl around when I do her thumbs and the claws between the thumb and the rest of the paw or I can't clip them, the amount of times she has used my stomach as a springboard...

Mochi is like, "UNhappy hoodie." Also, there ARE bigger baths like this. I recently bought one, 27 liters. Quite the big beast, an entire corgi can easily fit there. Very useful. You can look it up.
After a very terrible and long 10 days filled with stress 24/7, watching this helped me finally relax. I'm not a groomer and this is the only grooming channel I've watched. Whether it's dogs, cats or the infamous Mayo, these videos are always educational and fun. Thanks for helping me crack a smile and forget about life for a while
Vanessa, you are so thorough in your cleansing of the animals you groom!! You can tell you love what you do and are definitely gifted with patience and love for animals! I hope the owners appreciate that!!!❤
Thumbnail looks similar to my Sphinx, Bronte...who recently turned 13....she just got a bath this morning. Anyone thinking about a Sphynx...the oil on their skin doesn't have a hair shaft to go down, so it goes on you, your clothes, your furniture. And regular bathing is a must at least once a week...at least for my girl.
Something I have learned from human ear cleaning videos is that a good part of ear wax is actually shedding skin, so Mochi having such dark wax is probably at least some part having dark grey skin.
If you would sit on a flat surface and put them in between your legs, it will be so much easier to clip the nails. I had my sweet Mollie kitty for 23 years and clipped her nails regularly and that was the way I did it. She didn’t love it but she tolerated it and didn’t move around.
That high maintenance is a reason I'm not getting a Sphynx - that and they are MUCH more active and I just cannot with that. I need a couch potato cat lol But my mother's cat Spade had the ear trouble and I learned how to clean cat ears. SO. MANY. Q-TIPS. Spade was a long haired - Norwegian Forest Cat, I think - but his ears were just gunky all the time. But so long as I cuddled him in my lap while cleaning, he tolerated it. He wasn't thrilled - but he didn't maul me.

Some cats know what it means and obey it, believe it or not. My boy Owl would obey "stay" and "come" commands. He was really affectionate, too. Even walked on a leash and harness. I called him my little dogcat.
I taught my cats commands with hand movements so I think it’s probably possible to teach them verbal commands too lol
My cat knows a few commands, she's just insanely food motivated. Definitely not as reliable as most dogs though, she's a moggy/dsh
One of my cat knows a bit. Decides whether she feels like it. The other cat understands and does exactly what she pleases. I don’t do many commands, like small children I offer two choices. Like small children they like to feel in control.
Mochi the acrobat.
Squid lived up to the mysterious sphyxn reputation and left you guessing.
Love your videos, Vanessa, and am always happy to see the different colours from your manicures.
I clip my cats’ nails with them in my lap, too.
I'm still trying find a way for one of mine. She doesn't liked to be held or picked up and she hates having her paws touched. I've tried to desensitize her over the past 3 years - no luck. She completely freaks out. I'm by myself, and haven't been able to do,it alone. All my other cats were fine.
If you have two people, our cat likes to sit in someone’s lap…second person quickly clips.
I have never seen such food-indifferent cats!
They are their own creatures and are members of MGTOW. Meowers going their own way.
13:22 OMG it looks like you have a little seal in your tub!
haha, I commented the same thing!
It's eternally funny how you instinctively use all the dog commands. LOL.
Come here! Stop that! Stay!
Cats have never heard these in their lives.
It's a FOREIGN language to them, that's for sure. 😂
mine are trained with dog commands however they only listen when they want to 😂😂
@@thinkingaboutcicadas I have one from a cattery - and he's really good with commands and generally voice input.
Cat.."no need to keep repeating your silly commands, I ignored you fine the first time"
The water got so dirrrrrty, I was surprised.
@@fritzkrieg2344 Interesting!
One unfortunate thing is that ppl want a cat that won't trigger their cat allergy, or is low maintenance - they assume hairless cat is the solution- but allergens are in the skin oils too, not just the fur. Sadly can lead to re homing. Such funny creatures..
@@fritzkrieg2344 Also it is hard to wash over after it got dirtied by their oily skin unfortunately lmao
squid kicking his little drumstick leg when you were cleaning his ear was too cute!
I do this with my Tuxedo cat. I mean cats are liquid & foldable 😂😂😂
That's how I do my kitty at home!! I also tend to just do one or two nails when she's very relaxed.
I tend to do that to but I have to turn my girl around when I do her thumbs and the claws between the thumb and the rest of the paw or I can't clip them, the amount of times she has used my stomach as a springboard...

Mochi is like, "UNhappy hoodie."
Also, there ARE bigger baths like this. I recently bought one, 27 liters. Quite the big beast, an entire corgi can easily fit there. Very useful. You can look it up.
Sweet Squid was so scared and putting on a brave face.. seems like he really just wanted a hug when he tried to climb you.
They completely lightened up a few shades after their baths!
Mochi’s ears in the towel strings 🥲
i know theyre fine but seeing the blue rotisserie flop around with the happy hoodie is so cute
Disposable mascara spoolies are really good for cleaning out their nails . I used them on my cat .😂
That death stare!
Holy wow, even the froth outside of the bath is BROWN! I've never seen that with any animal on this channel before
To be fair to the owner: Being the sweetest isn't equal to the most compliant!
Cats- We wiggle, we thrash, we hiss, we growl, we yowl, we scratch, we bite, we run, we hide. We love.❤
Soft, warm, but Angy frën
After a very terrible and long 10 days filled with stress 24/7, watching this helped me finally relax. I'm not a groomer and this is the only grooming channel I've watched. Whether it's dogs, cats or the infamous Mayo, these videos are always educational and fun.
Thanks for helping me crack a smile and forget about life for a while
Squid looked like a baby seal with happy hoodie in the bath tub❤️💕🐱❤️
Vanessa, you are so thorough in your cleansing of the animals you groom!! You can tell you love what you do and are definitely gifted with patience and love for animals! I hope the owners appreciate that!!!❤
Squid is like my cat. If you can get him into the carrier. Once you get him there he turns into a potato and doesn't move 😂
08:06 lol, donkey kick....good thing she hit the wall instead of you!
Look at those eyes!!
WE'VE BEEN BLESSED WITH THE GROWL thank you mic
I came to watch the pets, I stay because of all I learn about different breeds. You are very informative while still letting the cuteness shine.
With the happy hoody in the bath he looks like a little seal
I have never really cared for this type of cat but Squid changed my mind. Such a cutie
Squids, golden-green eyes are lovely! 🥰
They look like a naked chicken from Costco ready for the rotisserie. Sphinx cats are very Egyptian looking. Squid has a gorgeous face.♥️
Poor Squiddy: went from laid-back gentleman to "Why for you bury me in the cold, cold ground?" 😆
Videos like these are why I watch this channel - so informative!!
The happy hoodie put Squid into factory reset mode. 🤣
Squid is GORGEOUS!🐈❤😍
Showing the world, the brown wax inside of a cat ear is a good thing. Also, the hoodie is working for squid however it obviously terrified Mochi.
Ahhh towels work. They are the only way I can trim my cat’s nails. The gloves look like they are very nice for the skin of the four footed ones.
I love Sphynx kitties, they are absolutely freaking adorable, they look like the squishiest cuddliest cats
They looked like little seals with the pink cover over their heads. I don’t normally find Sphinx cats cute but these two are adorable!
I love the cat ones💜🇨🇦👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
You could probably use a sanitized high walled “litter box” for bathing larger cats. Just a thought.
LOL Squid wanted more pets before going into the crate. :)
Cat: Hey i said i was sweet, not easy
The side eye in the happy hoody 😭😂
I love how the cat gave you the bombastic side eye when you stoped her from escaping the bath 😂
Vanessa, have you learned how to sleep semi awake- says my cat who meowed at the cats as if to say "get her!".
Those are really pretty Sphynx putty tats, especially the last one!! Another fun unusual critter!!
Yay! Caught a post early! Thank you for demonstrating all kinds of approaches to an anxious or resistant dog! Absolutely love your commentary too!
My cat wouldn't eat that treat either. I got her to eat one once, but never again. But Temptations, she goes crazy for.
My kitties will wash the dishes, the car, and clean the bathroom for a Churrru.
Calm, but unsure gradient bebby for second one.
Like how Vanessa says thank you and come again!!!😂😂😂😂😂
Like Cornish hens kitties!😂😂
Something I have learned from human ear cleaning videos is that a good part of ear wax is actually shedding skin, so Mochi having such dark wax is probably at least some part having dark grey skin.
Ive never once looked at any hairless cats and thought how pretty they were until now!! Lol i genuinely think this one is adorable! So pretty ❤
If you would sit on a flat surface and put them in between your legs, it will be so much easier to clip the nails. I had my sweet Mollie kitty for 23 years and clipped her nails regularly and that was the way I did it. She didn’t love it but she tolerated it and didn’t move around.
I loved the finality of closing and locking the door on Squid. "Thank goodness that's over."
Squid is gorgeous! His facial structure, color and eyes are perfection.
What a naughty girl! She really didn’t like her paws being washed 😂😂😂 The little boy cat was so good 🥰
At the very beginning with Mochi, I love the optimism of just standing at the table and loudly saying, "Come here!".
I love both furbabies and skinbabies, but there really is something to be said about the Sphynx ability to frown. I LOVE the frowning!
That high maintenance is a reason I'm not getting a Sphynx - that and they are MUCH more active and I just cannot with that. I need a couch potato cat lol
But my mother's cat Spade had the ear trouble and I learned how to clean cat ears. SO. MANY. Q-TIPS. Spade was a long haired - Norwegian Forest Cat, I think - but his ears were just gunky all the time. But so long as I cuddled him in my lap while cleaning, he tolerated it. He wasn't thrilled - but he didn't maul me.
There's a gift for making people smile. Thank you for sharing it.
Mochi is beautiful!! Love the blue coloring.
I liked the attitude of the last one who resisted all forced direction in or out of his crate.
