When you were noodling, were you only fretting the one string at the bottom? Can you press two strings in the same fret and it still sounds good? With some frets spaced so far, I would think it'd be difficult to play more than one fret simultaneously if they're not next to each other. I love the sound of this instrument!

Would the people you are jamming with have to be playing a song in the key of d?
They come in different keys or you could use a capo, and/or even retune. Let me know if I can help further.
