BTW, #KickingItWithRoss, you were close with the guess on HBK's overselling. Here's the main thing: Hogan vs HBK was to be a Best of Three, with Hogan winning; however, Hogan changed his mind at the last second, and HBK was pissed. Hence, the overselling.

The story behind Shawn Michaels vs Hulk Hogan is that initially, there were gonna be 3 matches between them. Both of them winning 1 each, and Shawn winning the tie breaker. Hogan decided he could only go for 1 match and he didn’t want to lose to Shawn. That’s when Shawn Michaels decided, “I’m gonna make this match as stupid as possible.” Which is why he was overselling the entire match. He also did a promo mocking Hulk for being old and broken down
funny story about hogan run at the time, when he did the mr america gimmick, they had him reveal his face under the mask at house shows and after smackdown went off the air. think they told him it was to get people like they was in on a secret when they really wanted it so they could use it at any time if hogan walked or wasn't willing to due business. hence the promo vince did to fire him showing that footage lol

No, you're NOT wrong about the HBK oversell. Shawn actually did not want to lose to Hogan. If you watch the whole match, you'll notice that Hulk & the ref had ACTUAL REAL reactions about that.

The reason why Michaels oversold in that match is because it was meant to be a face vs. face trilogy with Hogan going 2-1.
Hogan vetoed the face vs. face thing, forcing Michaels to turn heel, then later nixed the trilogy, making their SummerSlam match a one and done with Hogan coming out on top.
We did get the 'Who's your Daddy, Montreal?' promo out of the mini - heel turn of HBK's.

Hogan didn’t want to lose to Shawn because it was originally booked for it to be 3 match or something like that with both of them winning but Hogan being Hogan said that’s not gonna happen so it was only one match and Hogan obviously got over as you can see Shawn showing his frustration by over selling

story on hbk n hogan, they were to do 3 matches. Each get a win then hogan wins the 3rd match. But hogan being hogan backed out at the last minute cause he didnt think he should lose any matches. So Shawn decided to oversell the match teach hogan a lesson and humiliate him on live tv. Hogan has done that backing out on so many wrestlers and Shawn decided give him payback. Lot of the wrestlers applauded Shawn for it. Wrestlers were mad from when Andre the giant pass the torch to hogan but hogan disrespected Andre by the way he acted in wrestling and his ego had to have everything his way and refused to pass the torch to anyone. Hogan ruined many of the legends careers thru wwe and esp wcw. Little inside scoop for ya.

Hogan was being the asshole so Michaels got him back by overselling.
