Gosh, watching these playthroughs just gets me super enticed to bring out my own copy to a table. I'm about to have a vacation leave this coming Sep 22 for almost a week. I apparently left my MKUE copy at my parents' house (in my home town). I think I did that so there's another thing that I could look forward to when going home for holidays and occasions (aside from seeing my parents of course, that's too of my list and my other board games too 😂).

For years I've heard of Mage Knight. I've never got it as I don't think it would do well with my gaming crew. I finally pulled the trigger yesterday thinking specifically of solo playthroughs.
I figured it would be best to watch a couple videos to try to understand some of the rules before I get the game and dig in and though I don't usually watch full games this one beautifully captured my attention! I truly appreciate this video series!
You may have just changed my mind on how to keep busy during this quarantine...

As long as you can get past how combat works, Mage Knight is AMAZING!

Great playthrough !! Hope you will do the solo conquest. My boyfriend and I love this game and this expansion. We only play cooperative scenarios, it's so fun when it's time for the assaults. Last time with Volkare, I was so unlucky. I had lots of ice attack and ice block and I only drew ice dragons and ice ennemies. And of course, a lot of them had the paralizing effect. But we still managed to kill his army the next round, it felt so great !
NICE!! Yes this game is phenomenal, and I do plan to do a solo conquest play as I think that is my favorite way of playing. There is nothing like taking down those cities at the end of the game!! Thanks as always for watching I appreciate it and good luck on your next adventure!
Thanks Colin, another great play through. You can be forgiven for the errors - sooo many rules to remember! I’ve now played 10 times (mainly solo conquest and Volkare’s Return once -badly!) and still make mistakes. Picked up on a couple of things I’m still doing wrong from your play throughs, so hopefully that will help turn things around for my next battle against Volkare!

Great job Colin! This video playthrough encouraged me to go retry Mage Knight and I finally understood why it is recommended so much. Now I want to try my hand against Volkare. Not sure I’ll do as well as you did!

Superb mate. Done him right in. Got this out a couple of weeks ago but failed miserably. The spell offer was rubbish as was getting no attacks and no monasteries came up in the core tiles so wasn't getting any advanced actions to buy. Was against me from the off so chucked it early. Wasn't happy. Good job Colin. woulsn't mind seeing some Dragonfire in the near future. Love that game!

Tell me about it, I have NEVER done that well! 2 keeps right next to the City was lucky though, really couldn't of planned that better. Can't wait to get this out again!!
Haha, just realized that you ended up taking all the damage during this game from (relatively) minor enemies, but you aced both big assaults without a scratch! =D

I meant to ask, you seemed to handle this scenario pretty well and without much difficulty. How often do you find yourself winning versus Volkare?
This is only my 4th or 5th time and I only beat him one other time. You have to remember I did take some risks and it paid off. . .but it could have gone the other way that is for sure!! Still a great challenge either way.
Amazing!!! You just beat Ricky Royal :) You guys are awesome! Great fun in every Mage Knight playthrough. My recent attempt at volkare ended up badly, I got 2 summoner dragons and not half the unit power you gathered, he crashed me :) Despite that, it was a lot of fun!

you cant draw more cards for the keep AND castle. you can only choose the higher bonus. see ultimate rulebook- page11-paragraph 7- line B, 3rd bullet point.

Hi Colin, although I'm late for years, I've just started to watch your series, as I just purchased the Ultimate Edition recently.
I have 2 questions here:
1. In the rule book, it stated Volkare act like a city, does that mean we only need 2 Move to initiate combat with Volkare? Because you used 4 Move to initiate in this video.
2. At the last turn after u defeated Volkare, why you still have the Determination card to play sideway as 1 Influence? I thought you already used it to block attack from Volkare? The 4 Blue Cards in starting deck should be 2 Stamina, 1 Crystallize (Crystal Joy in Goldyx Deck), 1 Determination.

For me, Volkare is not immune to spells, but only to non attack or block effets.
I checked this one in the rulebook it specifically states he is immune to spells unless I have an older version which is quite possible! Regardless thanks for watching!
One Stop Co-op Shop it's weird, I also checked my rulebook. Page 9, it says Immune to arcanes means "Volkare is immuned to all effects which could destroy him, prevent him from attacking or affect him in any way". Page 27, is says this symbol means "the ennemy is not affected by others effects than attack or block". Is it written elsewhere ?
I have a feeling I have a different rulebook, problem is I am travelling this week so I can't check. I will get back to you on this next week!
